The Secret History of the 14th Dalai Lama

As peaceful protests against the Dalai Lama over his ban on the worship of Shugden intensify, his propaganda machine ─ the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) ─ have endeavored to portray Shugden devotees as a group of violence-prone extremists who collaborate with and are funded by Beijing. Discrediting those who refuse to bow down to the Dalai Lama’s authority within the Tibetan Diaspora is nothing new.

Behind Tenzin Gyatso’s veneer of enlightenment lies a secret dark history of repressions and human rights abuses, committed against the very people he is supposed to protect.

The Shugden community is aptly described as the latest victim of the Dalai Lama’s prolonged attempt to establish an absolute powerbase among the exiled Tibetans throughout the world. It is by no means the first to have been targeted by the Dalai Lama and the CTA.

H.H. Dudjom Rinpoche

In 1963, His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche, acknowledged as head of the Nyingma school within Tibetan Buddhism, was arrested in Siliguri by the Indian authorities on charges of espionage for the Chinese. Although he was later released, it was whispered that his popularity with Tibetans was seen as a threat to the Dalai Lama.

Not only did Dudjom Rinpoche have many followers, he was also opposed to the idea that all Tibetan Buddhist schools should be amalgamated under the leadership of the Dalai Lama. On being asked what his opinion was on the issue of amalgamation, Dudjom Rinpoche said,

Part of our purpose is to preserve all lineages as methods for attaining enlightenment. We should sustain our own tradition while respecting and rejoicing in the virtue of other traditions.

From Dudjom Rinpoche’s statement, it was evident the Nyingmapas were ready to co-exist with the other traditions within Tibetan Buddhism. Yet, later on, the Dalai Lama would declare that the reason for their reluctance to work with the others was because they could not abide Shugden followers.

It wasn’t enough for the Dalai Lama that the head of the Nyingmapas had been accused of being a Chinese spy. His followers had to be set against the Shugdenpas as well. Obviously, the price of disobedience to the dictates of the Dalai Lama was very high indeed.

If anyone were to ask why the Indian authorities would act as the henchmen of the Dalai Lama by arresting Dudjom Rinpoche, a closer look at the shared history between the two is sufficient.

Geopolitically, India has a number of territorial disputes with China. By helping the Dalai Lama, the Indian government proved itself capable of being a thorn in China’s side. The collaboration between New Delhi and the Dalai Lama would deepen. The latter would even authorize the use of Tibet’s secret guerrilla army ─ funded by the CIA ─ in India’s wars against Pakistan.

Dudjom Rinpoche wasn’t alone in his opposition to the Dalai Lama’s imposition of absolute power. In a bid to unify all Tibetans in exile, the Dalai Lama, through his brother Gyalo Thondup, sponsored the formation of the United Party in 1964.

Although some of the United Party’s programs that promoted understanding and cultural unity found support among the Tibetans, it was when they tried to push for religious unity that many objected. There were at least 13 settlements within the Tibetan Diaspora that stood in the way, known as the Thirteen Group.

The Thirteen Group included the leaders of the Nyingma and Kagyu schools. More damaging for the Dalai Lama was that the groups secured the support of the 16th Karmapa, who agreed to be their spiritual leader.

Other lamas, including the famous Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, also joined the opposition. They also elected a layman, Gungthang Tsultrim, who acted as their political leader in their fight against the United Party’s bid for religious uniformity.

Unable to persuade them to conform, the CTA, then known as the Tibetan Government-in-Exile, decided to once again enlist the help of the Indian authorities. Bringing pressure to bear, New Delhi ordered relocation for 24 prominent members of the opposition. Two of those ordered to move challenged the orders in the Indian High Court and won.

Embittered by their legal defeat, Dharamsala decided to orchestrate the assassination of the political leader of the Thirteen Group, Gungthang Tsultrim, who was shot from close range on March 13, 1977. The assassin, by the name of Amdo Rekhang Tenzin, admitted to being paid 300,000 rupees by the Tibetan Government-in-Exile to commit the act.

H.H. the 16th Karmapa Rangjung Rigpe Dorje and H.H. the 14th Dalai Lama

By siding with the opposition groups, the 16th Karmapa Rangjung Rigpe Dorje was marked as an enemy by the Dalai Lama. When he died in 1981, a search for his reincarnated successor began. Two candidates emerged and the Dalai Lama exacted his revenge on the Karma Kagyus by supporting Ogyen Trinley Dorje instead of Trinley Thaye Dorje, the candidate backed by the enemy of Tibetan independence, the Chinese government in Beijing.

The role of the Dalai Lama in the selection of the 17th Karmapa was nothing short of extraordinary. As a lama of the Gelugpa school, he had no religious authority to confirm the reincarnation of a Kagyu lama, much less the Karmapa himself. What motivated him to do so remains shrouded in mystery but it was, all the same, an act of betrayal.

The secret history of the Dalai Lama is slowly emerging into light. It has remained secret because most people do not associate such acts of deceit and violence with the self-proclaimed “simple monk” that the mainstream media presents him to be. This history portrays Tenzin Gyatso as the politician who uses his monk’s robes as a façade. It is time we brought down that façade.

  1. Awesome article! Yes, it’s strange how the Dalai Lama backed China’s candidate for Karmapa (orgen Trinely) over Thaye Dorje, the legitmate Karmapa, who had the backing of the head of the school. Thanks for writing this article.

  2. who and how believe you ppl? Your cunning policy of distortion of history of HHDL won’t success forever… Bod Gyal Lo and long live HHDL

  3. 1963 I think HHDL was young and he was following ur master trijang rinpoches idea. And later he became more mature and wiser..

  4. The Dalai Lama has no say and power over the religious affairs of the other sects of Tibetan Buddhism yet he meddles and exerts his ‘power.’ Since it is nor religious then I wonder what is it for?

  5. This is interesting. Dudjom Rinpoche himself said that his release was due to the direct intervention of the Dalai Lama. Another biography of Dujom RInpoche written by a direct discipline: Chado Rinpoche also notes that some fanatic Gelugpa lamas tried to put him in jail and the Dalai Lama immediately intervened for his release.

According to internal source, – Dudjom Rinpoche, Shugden followers at the time were after him as he did a lot of Torma to subdue Shugden. Dudjom Rinpoche became the main destroyer of Shugden and he wrote in great detail how he and Chatral Rinpoche subdued Shugden. Please check his autobiography.

The Dalai Lama later appointed the main student of Dudjom Rinpoche – Tulshig Rinpoche as his tutor.

  6. @haogan33 if Dorje Shugden has been subdued I doubt the demonstrations will have any power to create so much trouble for CTA and the Dalai Lama and all the activities conducted to over the ban would not be effective.

Nonetheless it is not only for political power the Dalai Lama moved against Dorje Shudgen practice and people, but that the Dalai lama truly supports the spread of Je Tsongkhapa’s teachings in a very skillful way.

  7. Dalai Lama has not supported the spreading of Je Tsongkhapa ‘s teachings in a skillful way, has the pure Gelug lineage been contaminated by him ? Je Tsongkhapa did not take Padmasambhava ‘s empowerment. The 5th Dalai Lama had Nyingma ‘s empowerments and he has written extensively texts on Nyingma teachings. He also mixed his own 5th Dalai Lama ‘s nectar pills with Padmasambhava, along with Atisha, Je Tsongkhapa and other Mahasiddhas’ sacred pills. Go to Sera Jey and request for that nectar pill.

Try to implement something that The Gelug founder has not introduced into the lineage, tell me it is creativity or breaching the guru samaya ?

Has Je Tsongkhapa mentioned a word on Nyingma teachings in his Lamrim Chenmo ? You can bet Dalai Lama kept on mentioning Nyingma ‘s teachings in his Lamrim teachings in Sera in year 2013. Can anyone get the hint why the Dharma protector Kalarupa not protecting Dalai Lama’s benefactor Ling Rinpoche when he was on the way to Dalai Lama’s Lamrim Chenmo teachings, his legs were damaged in the fatal car accident on the way to Sera ?
It is not a matter of trying to be all- rounded to all sects, Kagyu ‘s Lineage guru Marpa ‘s son tried to curse and kill Yamantaka ‘s lineage guru Lalita Vajra, what had happened to him then ? Has the Yamantaka’s practice not powerful enough, why bother to introduce some other teachings when Milarepa had learned from Nyingma gurus, he was not satisfied with the teachings and went on seeking Kagyu’s Lineage guru -Marpa ‘s teachings ?

Look at the super king size thanka/ paintings of Guru Padmasambhava at Sera in 2013, where is Tsongkhapa ‘s image when Dalai Lama is preaching the Lamrim Chenmo ?

  8. wow, a quit discovery!

  9. Gelug teachings arose from combining the the thoughts of Nyingma, Kayu and Sakya. We do not need to mention Nyingma sources, it is a known fact that Gelug arose from the Je Tsongkhapa who had gurus from all 3 prevailing sects at that time.

Even high level bodhisattvas seek out gurus that they have affinity with, so perhaps Milarepa found that in Marpa.

  10. @malefact

Malefact asked if LamaTsongkapa mentioned Nyingma teaching in his Lamrin. Yes, he used Nyingma teaching extensively in his Lamrim teaching. For example in the chapter for calm abiding or zhi gnas, he mainly used Kamalasila’s Stages of Meditation middle section. Kamalasila is a founding Nyingma teacher. Now tell me what do you have to say.

  11. Let’s not make it messier than what it is…Bhuddism is not about NYingma and Geluk for that matter!!!! If at all there is anyone who embodies the true Buddha dharma; it’s His Holiness the Dalai Lama, who preaches and embrace the true Buddha teachings rather than creating sectarian wars… Recall and reread what happened in history it’s clean and clear.
My infinite compassion goes to all those who encountered the wrong teachers; that’s why one must choose ones teacher very carefully, especially at this degenerated time.
May His HOliness the XIV Dalai Lama live long….
May His HOliness be the guiding light of Tibet
Yes Tibet: the land of snow where you and I both can live.

LONG LIVE THE XIV DALAI LAMA……

  12. So your saying that His Holiness didnt choose his teachers correctly, since both of his teachers practised Dorje Shugden? I think you need to get your facts straight Anonymous. No one here wishes ill upon His Holiness, in fact we wish him long life because he has done much to bring Buddhadharma to millions around the world. All we ask is that he lifts the ban on Dorje Shugden and gives us the freedom to practise as we wish. Telling people that there is no ban, whilst simultaneously presiding over the passing of three resolutions against Dorje Shugden is NOT an indication of religious freedom.

  13. Kamalashila was an Indian pandit from VIkramalashila Monastery, he was an advocate of Svatantrika Madhyamaka teachings, he was invited by Tibetan King Trisong Detsen to go to Tibet to debate with the Chinese monk at the Post Nyingma era after Padmasambhava, the founder of Nyingma sect established in Tibet many many years later.

Trying to discredit the fact that the constructions of Lamrim Chenmo were based on the blueprints of Lamp of The Path To Enlightenment by the Great Atisha and Maitreya of Ornament Of Realization which were 100 % Lord Buddha ‘s teachings passed to the lineages to Nagarjuna and Asanga is libeling the Dharma, the amateurs will say it is disparaging the Dharma, whichever it is, accumulating such great misdeeds. Padmasambhava ‘s Nyingma teachings contained a lot of Bon thirtika and local superstitions with the invalid so- called hidden texts which are not Buddha ‘s teachings.

Having such an incorrect view that the Gelug teachings combined Nyingma teachings is analogous to believing that a $1 Cubic Zirconia is equivalent to a $50,000 pink diamond.

So -called pony- tailed Yogis love tantric sex in Nyingma, but not the vinaya holders of the Great Atisha and Tsongkhapa, unless one ‘s practice is qualified at the Stage of No More Learning. Is Dalai Lama getting itchy at his underpant ?

  14. Is this true? As a Buddhist practitioner, I don’t quite like to know too much politic. Perhaps this is the way to attract more people get to know more about Buddhism. Modern people like politic, as long as there are human community, there are always some people to play the politic games. However, I still pray for His Holiness Dalai Lama live long and come back till the samsara end. He is a great master. We should not doubt this.

  15. There is so much hypocrisy involved and so many decisions made that are obviously politically influenced. Religion and politics should never be mixed, because it has created a result far more detrimental than needed. Either ways, religious freedom should be enjoyed by everyone in today’s society, but obviously, Shugdenpas are far from it as long as there’s a ban against the practise and discrimination towards its practitioners.

  16. Throughout the world today, many use religion to mask all sorts of wrongdoings including the most heinous crimes. People should not just follow blindly. Study, contemplate, debate, reassess the results for yourself. There is no need to hurl a whole load of evil comments on one another. Learn the facts. Research the truth or falsity of rumours. Always reflect on your own results.

  17. Thank you John N. for writing this article and thank you DS.com for publishing it for more people to be informed of what happens “behind the scene”. Firstly, I am saddened by the remembrance of sacrifices made by our heroes to preserve the pure teachings of Lord Buddha’s teachings and the lineage. Gungthang Tsultrim’s death seems to be just one of many throughout the history of the 14th Dalai Lama and his ministers. In fact, if we consider historical records of the assassination of Tulku Dragpa Gyeltsen, the trend of murdering opposition parties is nothing new in the “management style” of His Holiness reincarnations and those karmically linked to him as his entourage/ministers.

The tendency of the Dalai Lama to impose his authority on other lineages to gain control is also not limited to the case of the Dorje Shugden controvery or the selection of the 17th Karmapa. His Holiness has also, somehow, gotten involved in the instalment of the 9th Jebtsundampa who is the spiritual leader of Mongolia. There is current political conflict in relation to the enthronement of the 10th Jebtsundampa between the Dalai Lama and the Chinese authorities, which is another revelation of how politics always finds its way into spirituality wherever the Dalai Lama goes. This brings us back to the original view that we should never mix religion and politics. Based on the example presented in this article, it is possible NOT to mix religion and politics: the Thirteen Group that was established to protect religious and cultural diversity, which has political elements. To prevent mixing of religion and politics, the group engaged a lay person, Gungthang Tsultrim to lead the group

From i) the many news and information that is supported by evidence and events captured on video and media, which has yet to be disputed and ii) the lack of evidence or information to refute the opposition statements, it is glaring that His Holiness has caused much issues in the spiritual community and, unfortunately, the reason for creating all these controversies remain unclear.

So, until we understand why all this is happening, we should study and practice the Dharma we learn and not add fuel to fire. We should also apply wisdom to determine for ourselves on the spiritual choices we make such as whether or not to embrace the Dorje Shugden practice that has consistently benefited so many beings throughout history as clearly presented by various articles on this website.

  18. These words from Dudjom Rinpoche, who clearly saw the wisdom of the different Tibetan Buddhist Lineages being maintained, strike me as spelling a good enough reason why the schools of Tibetan Buddhism should be left alone:

“Part of our purpose is to preserve all the lineages as methods for attaining enlightenment. We should sustain our own tradition while respecting and rejoicing in the virtues of other traditions”.

I absolutely agree with his view. Each school has its unbroken lineage of teachings and practice that I am sure can be traced back to Buddha Shakyamuni. Each is as authentic as the other schools. Each lineage has brought benefits to countless people and has bought many of its followers to enlightenment.

Following one’s Lineage Guru and abiding by the teachings and practices he has given us, while holding the other Lineages with respect and rejoicing with them , is the way to go.

Politics cannot mix with religion. This is my view.

The Dalai Lama may have his reasons for wanting all schools to be united, which I am not able to understand.

  19. I dont understand why does HHDL need to unite the other sect when clearly He cant even ‘control’ his own sect.
Lord Tsonkhapa combined all teachings and started Gelugpa. As a Buddha, I am sure He would have the omniscience to put all sects into 1 at that time if he felt that there is a need.
HHDL, please release the ban and make sure that your lineage is in harmony first before you go dabbling into other affairs.

  20. Dear any religuous folowers,
Please his Holiness Dali lama is Buddha in human form. He knows what is wrong and what is right

  21. After readin few i stop readin on this site. But jus lik to put simple fact.
HH stop shungden becos it create religiois disharmony n its confirmed by many schugden rinpoche.
HH ask referendum frm monk n 90 percent choose not to share wit schugden monk n thus anyone practicing that diety is not allow in a democratic way.

  22. For no brainers : The Victorious Tsongkhapa ‘s teachings is far more superior than others, one cannot attain enlightenment without fully comprehending the Prasangika Madhyamaka, this is where debate and logic kicked -in. Guru Rinpoche Padmasambhava was rumored that he was killed by the Bon Thirtika, but the Nyingmapa denied. Would you want to follow a guru ( Founder ) that claimed to have miraculous power who was killed by the Bon Thirtika ??

Sorry I don’t , but you are free to practice democracy with no brain.

  23. Hello, one cannot attain enlightenment without fully comprehending prasangika madhyamaka, this is where debate and logic kicked-in.One can practice democracy with no brain. Padmasambhava is rumored to be killed by the Bon thirtika, sorry to disappoint you , do you want a guru that claimed to have such miraculous power only to be killed by his enemy and teachings that contained Bon and local superstitions? Sorry I don’t, for the sake of democracy, one is free to choose with no brain.

  24. In this pure realm, surrounded by snow moutains,
Is the source of complete happiness and benefit,.
    Avalokiteshvara, Tenzin Gyatso.
May you stand firm until the end of existence.

May you live thousands of years for Buddha Dharma and for all sentient beings ! May all your wishes come true for better world and peace on earth ! Remeber, 99 % Tibetan people are still following you and standing by you ! You are sunshine in this universe !! We love you till the end !

  25. From reading most of the articles, there is one thing that I just wanted to point out. Although the 14th Dalai Lama is the de-facto head of Tibetan Buddhism and represents all the different schools for state visits, dialogue or what not, he is really not the head of any school. Each school, be it the Gelugpa who’s head is the Ganden Tripa, the Sakya who’s head is the Sakya Trizin, the Nyingma who’s head is HH Penor Rinpoche and the Kaygu who’s head is the Karmapa. The Dalai Lama may be from the Gelugpa school but he is certainly not its head.

As such, could it be then with his plan to unite all schools into one, the Dalai Lama will appoint himself as the head of the newly formed school and dominate all. During the early days of exile, there must have been much confusion relating to resettlement and the general feelings of hope to return to Tibet. It may in this confusion that the Buddhist schools were willing to have the Dalai Lama represent them as one for the united voice calling for freedom of Tibet. As such the Dalai Lama could have seen a chance to exert his control by trying to merge all schools into one with him as the head. I guess the heads of the four schools saw through his ploy and forced the Dalai Lama’s hand to conjure up imaginary accusations to defeat them. After all, the average Tibetans-in-exile were not learned and having just came from a feudal system would not dare to speak or stand up even if they knew its wrong.

As the years goes by, the Tibetans-in-exile began to see and learn more of the outside world and what it has to offer. Maybe the Dalai Lama realised that he will not be able to sustain his lies as easily and so formed CTA. CTA may look as the Dalai Lama’s attempt at detaching himself from politics and to be the freely elected government body for the welfare of the Tibetans-in-exile but as we now know, its totally not so. The Dalai Lama is still very much in control behind the scene and CTA does not give an iota of care to its people. CTA is just the official right hand man to carry out any misdeeds and to take the blame when the time comes.

Hmmm what an intriguing assumption, don’t you think? Otherwise I can’t for the likes of me think of why would His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, the emanation of Chenrezig bring so much harm to his people and the Buddhadharma, especially with the integrity and purity of lineage masters in jeopardy and being eliminated from prayers. Absolutely terrible!

  26. Reading articles like this brings a disquiet to me. So much politics mixed up in spirituality. It’s enough to put anyone off religion. This sounds like a good plot for a movie to take “Da Vinci’s code” head on.
Can’t both sides agree to disagree without the mud-slinging? There’s no real right or wrong, both sides see themselves as right and the other side as wrong.
So, 2 years after this opinion piece, after all the disagreement on this page, the Dalai Lama has come out and say that anyone can practice Dorje Shugden; that Dorje Shugden cannot harm him, and by inference, cannot harm the Tibetan cause, and by extrapolation cannot harm anyone in the Dalai Lama’s mandala. So, why are we creating all these negative karma being rude, vulgar, violent, obsessive, fanatical and what have you.
    https://youtu.be/D-f8GpxvfUA

There is such a thing as religious freedom and democracy on this Earth that we all live on. There is such a thing as humanity, being humane, being kind and compassionate. The Dalai Lama is the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, so please encourage more peace in his name. Don’t make him seem so blood-thirsty and violent and vengeful.
If we keep looking for revenge, this feud will never end even at the end of time.

  27. Dear Dalai Lama,

Since you started the cruel ban against the 350 year Dorje Shugden practice, how has it benefit your Tibetan society and Buddhism in the world? Things have become worse and most educated Tibetans can see this. They don’t speak out not because they don’t see your ban as wrong, but you instill fear in them and not respect. It is like fear of a dictator. I am sorry to say so. Everyone is divided. There is no harmony. Before your ban there was more harmony and unity.

By enacting the ban, you split the monasteries, split so many families, split regions in Tibet apart, split your disciples from you, split your own gurus from you, split Tibetan Buddhism apart. You have created so much disharmony.

It is not democratic what you have done to ban a religion within your community. You always talk of tolerance and acceptance and democracy and yet you do not accept and tolerate something different from your beliefs. When people practice Dorje Shugden you ostracize them, ban them from seeing you, ban them from using Tibetan facilities. You know you have done that. There are videos that capture your speech and prove this point. You even had people expelled from monasteries just because they practice Dorje Shugden. Some of the monks you expelled have been in the monastery for over 40 years. Many older monks shed tears because of this.

Many young educated Tibetans lost confidence in you as they saw the damage the Dorje Shugden ban created and they lose hope. Many have become free thinkers. They reject what you have done. So many people in the west left Buddhism because of the confusion you created with this ban against Dorje Shugden which is immoral.

You could of had millions of people who practice Dorje Shugden to support, love and follow you, but you scared them away. They are hurt and very disappointed. They loved you and respected you deeply before the ban. It has been 60 years and you have failed to get Tibet back. Your biggest failure is not getting Tibet back after 57 years in exile. Now you are begging China to allow you to return to Tibet to the disappointment of thousands of people who fought for a free Tibet believing in you. So many self-immolated for a free Tibet and now you want Tibet to be a part of China with no referendum from Tibetans. Just like a dictator, you decide on your own. It was your government and you that lost Tibet in the first place. Your policies and style of doing things do not benefit Tibet and Buddhism. You have been the sole ruler of Tibet your whole life and you still have not gotten our country of Tibet back for us. Our families and us are separated. Yet you create more pain by creating a ban to further divide people. Please have compassion.

No other Buddhist leader has banned or condemned any religion except for you. It looks very bad. You are a Nobel laureate and this is not fitting of a laureate. You should unite people and not separate them by religious differences.

You said Ms. Aung San Suu Kyi did not do right to the Rohingya people in Myanmar due to religious differences, but you are doing the same thing to the Shugden Buddhists within your own society. There is a parallel in this. You separate the Shugden Buddhists from the others in Tibetan society.

You have lost so many people who would have loved and supported you. You have lost so much support around the world. The Shugden Buddhists who love you number in the millions. When you are fast losing support from governments and private people, it will not do you well to lose more.

After you are passed away in the future, the rift you created between the Dorje Shugden and non-Dorje Shugden people will remain for a while and that will be your legacy. Disharmony. You will be remembered for this. Not as a hero but a disharmony creator.

Dorje Shugden will spread and further grow, but you will be no more as you are a human. No one wishes you bad and in fact we hope you have a long and healthy life, but we have lost so much hope and have so much despair because of you. All the hundreds of Dorje Shugden lamas, tulkus and geshes are maturing and there are hundreds of Dorje Shugden monasteries in Tibet who will not give up Dorje Shugden. You have made a mistake. These hundreds of teachers and teachers to be will spread Dorje Shugden further in the future.

The gurus that gave us Dorje Shugden as a spiritual practice and you have called these holy gurus wrong and they are mistaken in giving us Dorje Shugden. How can you insult our gurus whom we respect so much? If they can be wrong, then you can be wrong. Then all gurus can be wrong. So no one needs to listen to any guru? You have created this trend. It is not healthy. Your own gurus practiced Dorje Shugden their whole lives. Your own gurus were exemplary and highly learned.

Dalai Lama you have created so much pain with this ban against so many people due to religion. You are ageing fast. Are you going to do anything about it or stay stubborn, hard and un-moving. You show a smile and preach peace and harmony wherever you go. But will you do the same to your own people? Please rectify the wrong you have done. Please before it is too late. You can create harmony again or you can pass away in the future with this legacy of peace. May you live long and think carefully and admit what was a mistake in having this unethical ban against Dorje Shugden religion.

.…Instead of turning away people who practise Dorje Shugden, we should be kind to them. Give them logic and wisdom without fear, then in time they give up the ‘wrong’ practice. Actually Shugden practitioners are not doing anything wrong. But hypothetically, if they are, wouldn’t it be more Buddhistic to be accepting? So those who have views against Dorje Shugden should contemplate this. Those practicing Dorje Shugden should forbear with extreme patience, fortitude and keep your commitments. The time will come as predicted that Dorje Shugden’s practice and it’s terrific quick benefits will be embraced by the world and it will be a practice of many beings.
