The Dorje Shugden controversy has been on going for over 300 years since the time of the Great Fifth Dalai Lama and Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen due to jealousy. Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen’s popularity and influence invoked jealousy amongst the Great 5th’s supporters to kill Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen. The attempts were unsuccessful, as Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen did not have the karma to be killed. Recalling his promise in one of his incarnations as Duldzin Drakpa Gyeltsen to arise as a dharma protector to guard Nagarjuna’s Madhyamika, Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen showed the perpetrators the only way of killing him.

Since the time of the Great Fifth, there have been several attempts to destroy Dorje Shugden yet there has been no success till today. Can there be such a powerful spirit that no lama has been able to subdue him, not even Avalokiteshvara himself?

For those who have taken refuge, why is there such great fear towards a spirit. It is illogical as a spirit cannot be more powerful than high lamas and refuge in the three jewels.

Pabongkha Rinpoche, a renowned Gelug Lama of the 20th century received this practice from his root guru. Pabongkha Rinpoche is a recognized reincarnation of Changkya Rolpai Dorje who was responsible for widely spreading the practice of Dorje Shugden among the Gelugpa tradition.

Dorje Shugden is accused of being a hungry ghost and vengeance-seeking spirit and his detractors say that propitiating him will bring about much obstacles to spiritual practice. If this is true, then wouldn’t this have prevented good rebirths of Dorje Shugden practitioners? Dorje Shugden has been practiced for over 300 years and he has been the protector of numerous lamas and practitioners. We do not see any of Dorje Shugden practitioners going to hell as Pabongkha Rinpoche, the renowned teacher, has reincarnated back. Similarly, other great lamas in the Gelug tradition such as Ling Rinpoche, Trijang Rinpoche, Zemey Rinpoche, Zong Rinpoche have all reincarnated back – just to name a few.

The Dalai Lama has relied upon and received teachings from the above-mentioned Shugden Lamas. Does it mean that the teachings received from Shugden Lamas are valid and pure only when Dalai Lama said so? And the Lamas and teachings are evil when HHDL changed his mind about the nature of Dorje Shugden? Buddha Dharma does not depend on changing feelings. We have witnessed in the last few hundred years how the Dalai Lamas have praised, accused, built a chapel to dedicate to Dorje Shugden, split the sangha communities to segregate Shugden practitioners and persecuted even children of practitioners.

Name one Protector who is being propitiated by ALL lineages. There are none. Why is there so much talk against Dorje Shugden, alleging that he is a spirit because not all lineages propitiate him?

Name one Protector, enlightened or unenlightened who has received just as much accusations and persecutions compared to Dorje Shugden. NONE.

What is the basis that Dorje Shugden is being singled out? The irony is  that today, Dorje Shugden is the most talked about and widespread protector!

Name one Protector who has been subjected to this many attempts by high lamas to destroy him YET, unsuccessful. NONE.
Doesn’t this tell you that perhaps he is NOT a spirit as claimed but is enlightened?

If the teachers of HHDL and the many high lamas who practice Dorje Shugden are wrong, then we should not be seeing their incarnation returning. This is not the case as incarnations are returning and Shugden monasteries are growing all over the world, harmoniously.

This video is poorly done, with such weak points that perhaps are only able to affect the views of unexposed and uneducated people who refuse to open their eyes to readily available and logical facts.

Contemplate This

.…Instead of turning away people who practise Dorje Shugden, we should be kind to them. Give them logic and wisdom without fear, then in time they give up the ‘wrong’ practice. Actually Shugden practitioners are not doing anything wrong. But hypothetically, if they are, wouldn’t it be more Buddhistic to be accepting? So those who have views against Dorje Shugden should contemplate this. Those practicing Dorje Shugden should forbear with extreme patience, fortitude and keep your commitments. The time will come as predicted that Dorje Shugden’s practice and it’s terrific quick benefits will be embraced by the world and it will be a practice of many beings.
