Achok Rinpoche’s Teachings in Serpom Monastery

DorjeShugden.com is pleased to share these pictures of Achok Rinpoche giving teachings and oral transmission of Lama Tsongkapa and his two disciples at Serpom Monastery in India, in conjunction with the month of Saga Dawa.

Celebrated throughout the fourth month of the Tibetan lunar calendar, Saga Dawa is the threefold festival that celebrates the birth, death and nirvana of Lord Buddha and is considered the most important time of the year for Buddhist practice.

It is said that the month of Saga Dawa is so sacred that any merit accumulated through the performance of a good deed or religious practice is doubled during this time. The middle of the month, the full moon day, is the most important and on this day, merit from worthy acts is said to increase by 100,000 times.

Such worthy acts may include going on pilgrimage to sacred places, making offerings, circumambulating and prostrating around Buddhist monuments, or engaging in retreat. In the monasteries, the monks engage in the reading of sutras, Cham dance rituals and other auspicious practices. Saga Dawa is also a particularly auspicious time for the giving and receiving of teachings, such as in the case of Achok Rinpoche.

Born in eastern India in 1976, Ven. Achok Rinpoche was recognized as the 4th reincarnation of Achok Rinpoche of Lithang in Tibet. Until 10, he focused on the memorization of basic ritual texts. From the age of 11, he began his formal education in Buddhist philosophical studies including Madhyamic, Abhidharma, Paramana and Vinaya all based on the works of Lama Tsongkapa and his disciples, under the personal guidance of his Spiritual Guide, Kyabje Yongyal Rinpoche. In 1998, at the age of 22, Achok Rinpoche sat for the examinations of the Gelugpa Cultural Society and obtained the Geshe Lharampa degree with the highest honor, making him the youngest monk to obtain such a high honor outside of Tibet.

An erudite young lama of the Gelugpa tradition, Achok Rinpoche currently lives in the USA and gives regular teachings at the Gadenpa Buddhist Center in New York. We at DorjeShugden.com rejoice that Achok Rinpoche is turning the Wheel of Dharma in Serpom Monastery, and pray for the growth of Rinpoche’s dharma activities and the flourishing of Je Tsongkapa’s lineage.

  1. Few years ago, I have honored met Achok Rinpoche in Serpom Monastery. He look very young, smart and intelligent. He can talk and even translate his Guru Kyabje Yongyal Rinpoche’s teaching for the audience. And Achok Rinpoche also very good in ritual. He is one of the young Lama who will spread Dharma in this region widely, I believed. And he have ton of Dharma knowledge and can speak few languages in fluent, because of this will make him more easy to approach in variates culture such as Western and Eastern countries.

Rejoice for Achok Rinpoche given his teaching and oral trasmission of Lama Tsongkhapa. So fortunate to receive teaching and transmission from Achok Rinpoche in this Saga Dawa month, because the merit will be multiple into 100,000 times. Rejoice!

  2. We happy to see that more and more qualify young high lama are very intelligent. They can speak and understand multiple languages. This is important as communication is the tool to spread dharma. We also feel glad if the Tsongkhapa lineage can spread from Tibetan to Western country. More and more people can enjoy the glory of the dharma. Sooner or later We will find all dharma sisters and brothers all over the world. We pray for all lamas healthy and long life to continue spread dharma.

  3. I sincerely rejoice that many young, capable, intelligent, multi-lingual lamas are rising and giving Dharma teachings worldwide. May Achok Rinpoche spread the light of Je Tsongkhapa far and wide.

  4. Another living proof that Dorje Shugden practitioners are not practising spirit worship, which would result in one taking rebirth in the lower realms. Serpom Monastery is really well kept, clean, neat and tidy, the pictures look great.

Rejoice that Achok Rinpoche is giving teachings and oral transmission of Lama Tsongkapa and his two disciples. Dorje Shugden is sworn to protect the teachings of Lama Tsongkhapa, more specifically the teachings of the Middle View. If Dorje Shugden Lamas were unpure in their body speech and mind, and wanted to Destroy Tibetan unity, or whatever, why would they waste time teaching and giving transmissions such as this? Wouldn’t they want to concentrate more on “getting more from China” as such baseless accusations has been propagated, instead of spending time teaching others.

  5. We all must work hand in hand to bring down the ban. There is more and more proof that Dorej Shudgen practice brings benefit and it is definitely not a spirit for the future generation and sentient beings in particular.

With Dorje Shugden in the future, he will bring Je Tsongkhapa’s teachings to all corners of our world.

  6. Rejoice for all at Serpom Monastery ! For many years they have been neglected and struggled since they openly declared their devotion to their lineage Gurus in the practice of the great Dorje Shugden.
Young and highly talented teachers as Ven Achok Rinpoche’s presence and teachings at Serpom Monastery brings great blessings to all at the monastery. Teachings and oral transmission of Lama Tsongkhapa is very powerful and it’s perfect for all Dorje Shugden practtioners, as DS is the protector to guard the purity of this teaching. And to receive this teaching during the Saga Dawa would magnify the merits received.

  7. Timely discussion – Coincidentally , if anyone has been needing to merge PDF files , my friend found article here http://goo.gl/s3bXtw

Contemplate This

.…Instead of turning away people who practise Dorje Shugden, we should be kind to them. Give them logic and wisdom without fear, then in time they give up the ‘wrong’ practice. Actually Shugden practitioners are not doing anything wrong. But hypothetically, if they are, wouldn’t it be more Buddhistic to be accepting? So those who have views against Dorje Shugden should contemplate this. Those practicing Dorje Shugden should forbear with extreme patience, fortitude and keep your commitments. The time will come as predicted that Dorje Shugden’s practice and it’s terrific quick benefits will be embraced by the world and it will be a practice of many beings.
