Democracy or Division

By: Shashi Kei The world has always thought of the Tibetan Cause as a nation’s fight for freedom and democracy. It is therefore to be expected that the Tibetan government in exile (Central Tibetan Administration, CTA) would be operating under a democratic system today and ever ready to extend that philosophy of government to Tibet…

The area in front of the Potala Palace is not a small space and to fill it up with people is no small feat. This mass gathering of people in July 2011 to listen to Xi Jinping (Vice President of the People’s Republic of China, and future leader of China) is indicative of the huge…

Indians are famous for their openness towards deities from other religions, believing that holiness and sacredness does not manifest as just the gods and goddesses they are familiar with. So it is no surprise that in a little village in India, these women dance joyously for Dorje Shugden…   Dance is often described as an…

Speak, rap…and swim for Dorje Shugden!

In today’s stressful world, for both young people and mature adults, we put ourselves through a tremendous amount of stress, problems and difficulties, and sometimes we need to find a source, an energy or a power that can help us, that can relieve us, that can perhaps give us a little bit of light to…

Will the Karmapa save Dorje Shugden?

When the ban on Dorje Shugden was implemented and steadily maintained by the Dalai Lama, practitioners of the Gelugpa sect were most affected amongst Tibetan Buddhists. Being one of the most influential sects in Tibetan Buddhism, they came to lose their power due to internal separation within their core monastic institution and ostracism by the…

The Centrality of the Practice in the Geluk during the 20th Century

Particularly in the early days of exile, a number of claims were made about the centrality of the practice of Dorje Shugden in Geluk practice, in particular, that the deity was the main protector of the Geluk. This claim seems to be strongly linked to a doctrine connected with the 19th and 20th century charismatic…

Favorable Conditions

We learn – for example, at this year’s US Festival, where Gen-la Dekyong granted the empowerment of our Wisdom Dharma Protector, Dorje Shugden – that the function of our Dharma Protector is to dispel obstacles and provide favorable conditions for our spiritual practice. The last phrase is important, because the conditions may not at first…

The Decision to Surrender

A lot of people get confused how one practically surrenders completely to the spiritual guide. It seems as if you would become a lifeless zombie frozen, incapable of acting. The reality is it is the exact opposite. Right now we are a lifeless zombie incapable of acting since we are completely controlled by our delusions…

Possession by Dorje Shugden – The Oracle: Reflections on Self

Contemplate This

.…Instead of turning away people who practise Dorje Shugden, we should be kind to them. Give them logic and wisdom without fear, then in time they give up the ‘wrong’ practice. Actually Shugden practitioners are not doing anything wrong. But hypothetically, if they are, wouldn’t it be more Buddhistic to be accepting? So those who have views against Dorje Shugden should contemplate this. Those practicing Dorje Shugden should forbear with extreme patience, fortitude and keep your commitments. The time will come as predicted that Dorje Shugden’s practice and it’s terrific quick benefits will be embraced by the world and it will be a practice of many beings.
