Dalai Lama Will Stop Condemning Dorje Shugden

DorjeShugden.com has just received groundbreaking news from the monasteries that H.H. the Dalai Lama will stop openly condemning the practice of Dorje Shugden.

From 30 November – 13 December 2012, H.H. the 14th Dalai Lama gave 14 days of Lamrim teachings at Gaden and Drepung Monasteries in south India. Commentaries included Atisha’s Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment (Jangchup Lamdron), Tsongkhapa’s Great, Middle and Concise Treatises on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment (Lamrim Chenmo, Lamrim Dringpo and Lamrim Dudon) and 14 other classic texts.

During his time at the monasteries, the Dalai Lama held a private closed-door meeting with all the abbots of the main monasteries, including those of Gaden Shartse, Gaden Jangtse, Drepung Loseling, Drepung Gomang, Sera Jey and Sera Mey. Here, he told them that after this Lamrim teaching, he would stop saying negative things about Dorje Shugden openly.

The Dalai Lama explained that he had said this because people are listening to him now and so, there is no need to talk more on the subject. Actually, there are tens of thousands of practitioners who are still maintaining their practice of Dorje Shugden; the continued growth of their monasteries such as Shar Gaden and Serpom is evidence of this.

This change of tone can also be seen when His Holiness spoke almost jovially on religious harmony and Dorje Shugden during these same Lamrim teachings at Drepung Loseling Monastery on December 9, 2012.

We rejoice that the Dalai Lama has decided to stop condemning Dorje Shugden. This seems to be very, very good news that suggests that the Dalai Lama is now thinking deeper of a much bigger picture. This is a beacon of light for all who respect and cherish religious freedom, and especially poignant for Dorje Shugden practitioners who have kept up their practice, and maintained their faith silently and peacefully all these years.

It is a sign that human dignity, freedom and basic personal rights to religious freedom are beginning to prevail in this world. The Dorje Shugden practitioners, as in any other religious faith, have the right to practice their personal beliefs without criticism and discrimination from any secular or religious leader.

  1. WOW!!! Very good news to know that H.H. the Dalai Lama WILL STOP CONDEMNING DORJE SHUGDEN in the public!!!

Very good news to DS practitioner too! Everything is over. And I believe the ban is liften soon! Dorje Shugden Is Back!!!!!

  2. The DL’s words were that he “will stop”, not that he has stopped. Besides, he may decide not to condemn Shugden worship in public, but he can still do a lot of harm in private. I personally believe its all another political smoke-screen, something unpleasant is going to happen, and the DL wants to appear squeaky clean.

  3. Dalai lama is very clever. Never trust him!!!!! He will not say anything without a reason.

  4. First see HH IS a Wisdom being he has his reasons….Today I felt the result has been he levelled, Gelug got rightfully weakened they were too powerful, now all are divided, some have shown themselves stupid. That is good. We are no coca cola football club, just angels trying to heal and pray. God bless HH.

  5. This is indeed good news and indicate more favourable future. I place my trust in my guru and he had said HH Dalai Lama is Chenrenzig. Therefore, we should not speak ill of his Holiness even if he had gone against our idea of correctness. Who are we to assume that we understand an enlightened mind and base every understanding on immediate effect of the action. I am sure that the end result of his ban is to benefit all Buddhist practitioners, which we may fathom at current state. I feel that those who had reacted with negative actions should really reflect on their past and transform to truly practise Dharma.

  6. The DL was quoted, on record, as saying that he wished to destroy people’s faith in Dorje Shugden to such an extent that future generations would not even know the name “Dorje Shugden”.
The Gelugpa Lamas that have sold their souls to the DL, I feel nothing but compassion for them, they are destroying the pure lineage of Guru Tsongkhapa.

  7. This must be such a relief for those who have been loyal to Dorje Shugden and our lineage Gurus!

I had the honor to visit Ganden once and the thought of a divided sangha community was just too difficult to fathom and accept. The suffering these Dharma practitioners must ensure can only go very painfully deep due to the contradiction between what the Buddha taught and what is being executed by HH, their spiritual leader.

Now, as HH softens His stance on Dorje Shugden practice, we will begin to see that all this drama is to lead way for the practice of our perfect Protector to flourish. This would mean, there was never a contradiction but merely a very skilfully orchestrated performance to bring DS to millions.

  8. This is truly very good news!! Does this mean that the Dalai Lama approves of the practice of Dorje Shugden, finally? This will definitely give some relieve to us practitioners and it is a sign that the ban may be coming down soon.

After so many years of condemning the DS practice, the Dalai Lama’s stance is softened. So, what was believed that the Dalai Lama orchestrated this ban so that there will be more awareness and practitioners may be true.

  9. I think everyone is getting carried away, the Dalai Lama has not said he approves of Dorje Shugden practice just that he will not condemn it in public. I do not believe he has softened his stance, he is only messing with our minds!!!!!

  10. @ The True Dalai Lama:- so what? Thats much better than before when he was openly condemning it, therefore giving people an excuse to marginalise us! I think we ought to be happy at this news, and see it as a sign that things are easing up. Hopefully with this, people will start to feel less hardline in terms of upholding the ban, and the monks in India can get some relief!

  11. He is crap dumb-ass, exploited by US, EU and Indian politics, and he is exploiting Tibetan monks in the name of Free Tibet. Tibet now is better than what it used to be (drawbacks also being developed Tibet under Chinese rule). This guy is exploiting Tibetans in Nepal as well. Last month, one Tibetan monk commit suicide burning himself in the name of Free Tibet or Exploited by US led Dalai Lama. I respect Tibetans but Not this jackass.

  12. Being me as Buddhist, i always appreciate the every aspect of Buddhism. so, i really wish China could free Tibet.

  13. This is really good news to those Dorje Shudgen practitioners. At least now we can see that a little bit of religious freedom and some respect to others religious belief. I hope more people can follow H.H. Dalai Lama foot steps that not to openly saying negative things about others religious. This is the basic requirement to maintain the a harmony society in the world of religious.

  14. I find it hard to believe that Dalai Lama will stop condemning publicly Dorje Shugden.
    Proof?
If what Dalai Lama said is true, how come he was videoed in California recently reacting irritably and replying in a loud and stern voice to the nun who approached him and respectfully requested that he stop lying?

Contemplate This

.…Instead of turning away people who practise Dorje Shugden, we should be kind to them. Give them logic and wisdom without fear, then in time they give up the ‘wrong’ practice. Actually Shugden practitioners are not doing anything wrong. But hypothetically, if they are, wouldn’t it be more Buddhistic to be accepting? So those who have views against Dorje Shugden should contemplate this. Those practicing Dorje Shugden should forbear with extreme patience, fortitude and keep your commitments. The time will come as predicted that Dorje Shugden’s practice and it’s terrific quick benefits will be embraced by the world and it will be a practice of many beings.
