Nepal Arrests Activist for Holding Tibetan Flag

More recently, Nepal showed just how serious they are about this policy when they took Adak, a Tibetan activist, into custody after he posted a picture of himself holding a Tibetan flag in front of Kathmandu’s Boudhanath Stupa.

The truth is, Tibetans living in Nepal have enjoyed a whole host of kindnesses and freedoms — they have been granted Nepali citizenship, own swathes of land, run million-dollar businesses, own large homes and properties, have the freedom to travel in and out of Nepal as they wish, and have religious freedom. Yet, they just do not seem to care about the country that has given them so much; instead of holding the Nepali flag, Tibetans continue to fly the Tibetan flag, a symbol of Tibetan independence, in order to provoke the Chinese leadership and harm their host country Nepal’s relationship with China

If one needs any more proof of Nepal’s ‘abandonment’ of CTA and Tibetans, this latest arrest speaks in volume. Nepal is dead serious in ensuring the curtailment of any protests relating to the Tibetan cause within its soil so as not to jeopardise its cordial relations between Nepal and China.

But then again, such loss of support was already obvious when the Nepali authorities closed down two offices related to His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Tibetans — the Office of the Dalai Lama’s Representative and the Tibetan Refugee Welfare Office in 2005.

This is but another obvious result of CTA's failure in maintaining ties with Nepal throughout the years. Considering that CTA has failed to address the earlier red flags of Nepali’s growing dissatisfaction and resentment, it is not surprising that things have come to this with Nepal now. In fact, CTA will definitely be irrelevant soon if they persist on their current self-serving stances.

Wow Nepal is really super efficient to catch those who break the law with regards to protesting against China huh? They must be dead serious in ensuring their relationship with is smooth and well. I guess who wouldn't when your country is going to be developed China with billions pouring in.

Today more and more countries are trading with China and welcoming China investment that will boost their economy, hence, it is no surprise to see everyone aligning with trade rather than war. This is a far better future than what is expected from the western leaders.

Nepal is being smart this time and sorry Tibetans, you should stop standing in people's way and causing trouble. Tibetans need to appreciate what they have, wherever they may be, and they should follow the rules of that particular host country otherwise they should just pack up a go, no one is stopping them, and at the rate they are going, they'll be packing up real soon. Don't throw rocks when you are living in a glass house!

Nepal is going in the right direction to ban ALL ANTI-CHINA activities in their country! They started by closing down the CTA and Dalai Lama office that stopped Tibetans from using them like how they did to the Indians. Tibetans are naturally ungrateful. They do not learn or practise Buddhism and they do not deserve to be treated well. All aids to them should be taken away and they need to be taught a huge lesson seriously!

Nepal has received lots of help from China. China so far is one of the top 3 direct investors in Nepal, they have help to stimulate the economy of Nepal. As for the Tibetans, what can they give Nepal. Nepal is a developing country, they need a lot of support financially and also modern technology. Since Tibet issue is a very sensitive issue when it comes to China, it is better to stay away from the CTA. Tibet issue will never be resolved because China will never allow Tibet to be an independent state.

Besides the numerous investment that China has invested in Nepal, China will give Nepal army about $21 million in unspecified “disaster relief materials” over the next three years, as Beijing strengthens its ties with Kathmandu. After a devastating earthquake in 2015, which killed 9,000 people, China was among the first countries to send rescue and relief teams to Nepal. There are many more contributions from China to Nepal.

Nepal will not risk their relationship for Tibetan and will definitely keep an eye on the Tibetan movement in Nepal. Nepal has already stopped the celebration of Dalai Lama birthday this year. They worried the gathering will bring havoc and unpeace to the public. This is how strict Nepal is and Tibetan will not have much freedom. It's better for Tibetan to just stay low and if they already became Nepali then just be loyal to what they are now. CTA will not help them in any way and they have to be grateful to Nepal for allowing them to stay there and some even granted citizenship.
