Geshe la sure know how to bottles an old wine into new package. So apt for our time. The universal truth that will bring world peace as stated in Dhammapada.
Yamaka Vangga (the twin verse)
Retaliation does not lead to Peace
Verse3: “ He abused me, he beat me, he defeated me, he robbed me” in those who harbor such hatred thoughts is not appease.
Verse4: “ He abused me, he beat me, he defeated me, he robbed me” in those who do not harbor such thought hatred is appease.
Anger is conquered by love
Verse5: Hatred never cease through hatred in this world; through love alone they cease. This is the eternal law.

I totally agree with Geshe Kelsang Gyatso teachings. The world will be a better place if there is no war. There will be less sufferings if people practice love and compassion instead of having anger and hatred. To receive such a beautiful teaching from Geshe Kelsang Gyatso is an inspiration and shows that Geshe Kelsang Gyatso is highly attained Mahasiddha and not a spirit worshipper.

When we have love in us, we will not even think of harming anyone or anything. We would be responsible of all our actions and thoughts and will think twice to refrain from harming others.

Even if harm was necessary, this would be done on a compassionate basis without any of the 3 poisons to it.

From Buddhism’s teachings one understands that the real source of happiness is inner peace. If our mind is peaceful, we shall be happy all the time, regardless of external conditions. How could we be able to seek world peace if we ourselves has yet to achieve the same ? Peace has to be blended together with compassion and love . Geshe Kelsang’s is a real Mahasiddha and his words carry weights and wisdom!

What Mahasiddha Geshe Kelsang Gyatso says in this teaching are gems of wisdom. "Only love can bring world peace". To have world peace, we need inner peace within ourselves. This inner peace is attained through the practice of love and compassion, patience and respect for others. This is what Dharma teaches, the use of antidotes, such as "love" and "compassion" as an antidote to "hate"; and "patience" as an antidote to "anger".Over and above this, Dharma teaches us that , in our ignorance and delusions, we "label" people as "friends", "enemies" and "strangers". These are all projections of our mind. In our cyclic existence of innumerable lifetimes in samsara, our current "enemy" would have been our best loved being before.Even in this life, sometimes, within a flash, a friend becomes an enemy.

Only when we have overcome the real enemies within, our afflictive emotions or delusions, will we gain inner peace. From inner peace, outer peace will grow. If we can have peace with our neighbours, there will be no war. World peace will be realized.

The weapons that we make and create are created out of our delusions. Delusions of greed for money or power fuel the making of these weapons. Hence, if there is peace within all minds, there would be no more delusions. These weapons would become irrelevant.

Thank you Geshela, for such a powerful teaching.

World peace is so loosely used for the last few decades by new age spiritual seekers. I often wonder if those who use this phrase has realization of it's context.

As Geshe-la says, "Only love can bring world peace".  We need to start on the personal level, by working with our own minds. We need to meditate, slow down, and notice our negative thoughts. It's not a matter of getting rid of them, that would create a war within ourself, but simply noticing, and then letting go.

We can start by paying attention, by allowing ourselves to care about the fate of our loved ones, only then can we expand to our family members, friends and enemies, our neighbors, then the fates of those on more distant corners of the globe. We can care compassionately about the world around us. With that we achieve world peace.
