100,000 people attend this? So--- like 100,000 people will walk around saying Shugden is bad and being mean? Oh dear.
So, look, you know, here we have an issue, which I think we could address much more easily in a democratic system. So, people following the Dalai Lama, who mixes religion and politics is pretty upsetting, when he turns people against say....um... Shugden practitioners. But keeping people from travelling to hear him, which China apparently thought was the answer, is really not going to help. There is too much dogma here, on both sides: China wants control, and the Dalai Lama wants control.
Okay, so a democratic form of government with a few tenants would really help--- both China and Tibet--- China could still divide the wealth like Sweden or something if that is what they are worried about (though I didn't notice their wealth was completely divided over there, at least not according to NPR) --- but they need to understand that it won't help anything if they try to control people's thoughts and actions.
So, basically, allowing people to move and think freely, separating church and state, and educating the populace would be very helpful; saying.... don't go to the Dalai Lama and listen to him.... well.... I went to a teaching of his once, a long time before doing Shugden, and I thought.... hmm... this guy isn't very logical and I have met lamas which really are like Chenrezig to me (the 17th Karmapa, which the Dalai Lama didn't pick, and China didn't back.... the real one, Shamar Rinpoche's one....). So, to each their own, I said, on who likes the politician lama..... what China isn't getting here, is that they have made themselves very unpopular, obviously by taking over Tibet, and when they won't let people go and listen to 'his holiness' Dalai Lama that it makes people want to go over there even more, and also makes them REALLY dislike their Chinese government. So, you know, the Dalai Lama is definitely not my lama, but China should lighten up and let people go over to see the Dalai Lama; China and Tibet governments should both stay out of recognizing lamas--- governments do not need to be involved in religion --- look at Europe during kings--- look at the U.S. during witchhunts.... keep them separate..... Of course, to help the countries, people need to have access to education and be taught to think for themselves and reason logically--- this is hard when we have the CTA on one side saying do what we say or else (including doing Shugden prayers) and China saying do what we say or else....
Could we please try, think for yourselves.... not that this is easy, since we all affect each other's thinking; we have some liberal thinkers in the west--- though it is hard to get the establishment out of the thinking, the only real way to have people think for themselves is to teach them how to analyze and reason in a system where they can go and investigate things for themselves.... like the freedom to go to a teaching.... the freedom to decide to follow the Dalai Lama or not.... if the Dalai Lama were not in politics--- then what would be the problem? That would solve a lot of the problems, if Tibet would understand to get the Dalai Lama's despotic control out of the way and replace it with open thought--- otherwise Tibetans are between whatever the Dalai Lama decides today or whatever China decides today..... neither of them needs to tell anyone what they will do with their religious practices today.... Maybe China would like a democracy someday? After all, they have long left their imperialist roots, so maybe they would like to try, now that their people are well educated, to move toward democracy.
