Cloning Buddhas
« on: October 30, 2015, 11:27:46 AM »
Does this degenerate age, justify the creation of Dharma-inclined & Dharma-gifted children, through scientific methods, like the sheep, Dolly? And possibly name such children as 'reincarnations' of great lineage gurus?

Thinking that the effect (Dharma-inclined & Dharma-gifted children) could be produced without the cause (the practice of Dharma in previous lives) is hardly an intelligent start.

It would not work. People would rather call them “Dolly”.

What if they clone them from their relics &/or remains, & introduce them to the world like real tulkus?

Not knowing whether the clones are actually tulkus or not, they would be just lying.

If they give up lying, they can still produce real tulkus, through Dharma practice.

Dharma-inclined & Dharma-gifted children created by scientific methods, like the sheep, Dolly, are not divine like reincarnations of lineage gurus. We cannot create divinity i. a laboratory.

Dharma-inclined & Dharma-gifted children created by scientific methods, may not have karma like lineage gurus who had a successful supramundane bodhisattva career, & lived a long life.

I think that this is the best answer to your own original question. Still, if one considers one's own channels, drops and winds as a laboratory together with the elements to be therein manipulated, one definitely could create divinity, such as the illusory body, in a laboratory.

But then the tantric metods to create the pure illusory body which is both supramundane and immortal are thoroughly scientific, and surely more scientific than much of the so-called materialistic “science”, together with its ludicrous, self-contradictory dogmas and preconceptions.

I think it is possible to clone the physical features by using the DNA of a tulku but the consciousness cannot be cloned. It would be a completely different personality. So it would be ridiculous to introduce the cloned person as a tulku.

I think a person's personality can be cloned.

I think a person's personality can be cloned.

This is because you hold the ludicrous, materialistic view that mind is a function of the body.

Yes if the mind can be clone then, it follows that the self is the same as the 5 aggregates which is wrong according to the the teachings on Emptiness. Hence, we cannot clone the mind. Further we can conclude, if the clone of the physical Buddhas are not the Buddhas, what we see as the Buddhas are from our minds, manifested for our untrained minds.
Hence, the real Buddha is not the bodies nor the aggregates. Nor is it different! Contemplate this.

Why need cloning?

Buddhas have the abilitiy to emanate. Does it answer the lack of Buddhas?

Let's start worrying about the problem now, & do something about it.

"The robot apparently shares the ideas and personality of Bina by creating a database of her memories, beliefs and thoughts, along with information taken from social media interactions and blogs she shares.

Eternal life looks scary in this way!

I agree with fruven! Buddha emanations are the far better solution!

Can the CONSCIOUSNESS of a Buddha be cloned ? If the answer is no then obviously we don't get more Buddhas via the process of cloning !!  :)
