NEW BOOK BY GESHE KELSANG GYATSO RINPOCHE
« on: June 06, 2015, 04:34:14 AM »
http://www.tharpa.com/uk/the-oral-instructions-of-mahamudra-en.html

This is the English translation of the book he wrote in Tibetan.

To those who want to gain authentic realisations, this book will appear as a wonderful transmission emanating from the joyful freedom of a yogis heart pointing out the essence of the Ganden Oral Lineage.

Sadly, there are also some unfortunate souls out there who rather than shut their non-virtuous mouths and delight in attaining realisations, prefer to waste their dwindling life span criticizing this author with baseless and pointless accusations. They miss the point completely of having even met the Dharma and their opportunity to achieve permanent liberation will soon be lost. I pray they will learn to develop virtuous minds and seize the essence of having been born human.

These instructions on mahamudra are the essence of Guru Yoga. What an inconceivably fortunate opportunity we have been given! Homage to Drubchen Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, may we always be together in the living lineage!

Thank you for high-lighting the newly translated book. Many are not aware of it. As for those that do not wish to open their minds and hearts, I guess it is their karma or lack of merits. May they find their way out of the darkness into the light. Om Mani Pedme Hung

Grandmapele,

I understand this controversy has made things difficult for both sides, so I do understand where some of these people criticizing Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche are coming from, it is just that many of the criticisms are not just pointless but they're not even true.

For example, there is an image on the cover of the new book of Guru Sumati Buddha Heruka. The critic says that this image is a painting of Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, that it is inauspicious to paint a Guru on a lotus if they are still alive, and so on. I am close friends with the artist that made this painting and know the truth. The image is not Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, it is Guru Sumati Buddha Heruka. The artist, who is very experienced in the Dharma, wanted to paint him very youthful, and she is well known for painting quite youthful aspects of holy beings. That the face of Guru Sumati Buddha Heruka bears resemblance to Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche truly comes only from the artists' practice of Guru Yogs. The artist was not directed to paint Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche on a lotus, nor was it her intention to do so in order to help 'create a myth' that Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche is Guru Sumati Buddha Heruka and the only living holder of the Ganden Oral Lineage. For his disciples, of course he is regarded as an emanation of Guru Sumati Buddha Heruka, of course! The importance of having such a view is supported by extensive scriptural references. Whether or not he is the 'only' holder of said lineage is irrelevant nonsense, but he is definitely a holder of it, and having been requested to share it, he wrote the book so people could benefit.

The only reason they're trying to discredit Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche is that he has criticized the Dalai Lama's sectarian abuse of people's rights. It is truly unfortunate for the world that the Dalai Lama has instituted the ban ("cultural revolution" in his own words), and unfortunate that his actions have solicited such extensive criticism and discrediting information about him. If he just respected everyone like the Buddha taught, there would have been harmony and no need to confront him or bring the 3 Jewels into disrepute.

Since the Dalai Lama is so insistent that he is carrying on the legacy of the 5th Dalai Lama, he should, as the 5th did, admit he was wrong about the Dharmapala, lift the ban, tell people to stop harming others, write a new praise to Dorje Shugden, built a temple for Dorje Shugden, and personally make a statue of this Protector.

That being said, even if Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche was the only one to receive the oral instructions in their entirety, this would not be the first time in the history of the Gelugpa lineage Gurus that there was only one person who received the oral instructions in their entirety. It was often the case that many people received portions of the oral lineage, but only one received them completely. This is explicitly mentioned in the book Enlightened Beings, which is the liberation life stories of 6 of the early Gelugpa lineage Masters.

And even if Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche were to boast such a thing, it would also not be the first time in the history of the Gelugpa lineage Gurus to boast such a thing. Gyelwa Ensapa was particularly an explicit yogi who did not hide his attainments and who boasted things on various occasions. Does that make him arrogant? Not necessarily.

It is always rejoice to see great masters like Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche's work being published, be it as book or audio or video. There are many great masters out there, and if we choose to believe your Guru and not to believe other masters, then we should not condemn other teachers, because this rock the fundamental of Buddhists vows, i.e. create schism, and worse still create schism within sangha communities.
