Shugden followers go online in their battle against Dalai Lama
« on: October 20, 2014, 07:17:35 PM »
Today, an extremely biased report from Hindustan Times:

"Dorje Shugden, referred to as 'Dolgyal' or 'demon king', is an ancient Tibetan deity denounced by the Dalai Lama. Its follower who revere the century-old deity as a 'protector', have in recent past intensified the protests against the Dalai Lama demanding him to lift the ban on rituals involving Dorje Shugden.
However, supporters of the Dalai Lama said he had not banned any practice and that Buddhism does not allow for such restrictions."

... and of course, Shugden Buddhists are still accused of murdering those 3 monks. Not that anyone has ever been found guilty of the crime. If a crime actually took place?

Okay, the Hindustan Times is a really bad newspaper, but maybe people believe stuff they read (I was told not to believe the Indian/Nepali papers--- at all--- when I was in India.)
But interestingly, they also had some similar issue of getting things messed completely up when it came to the Kagyupas:
So one of their lamas wrote a letter to the editor, because they just get blatant facts wrong, kind of wonder if like someone from DL school buys somebody, just because the Indian police get bought sometimes....

Media the world over are biased and have their own agenda - whether intentional or unintentional. Tabloid media especially are well known for not doing in depth research and will follow the popular line. As such, it is important that people don't just believe what they read but explore and investigate themselves. After all, that is what the Buddha has himself advocated - that we should all not just believe blindly but to check the validity of whatever we are told. I just hope that there are journalists of merit out there who will tell the true story of Dorje Shugden and the injustice of the ban.

Dragging out the one single unsolved murder and making Dorje Shugden practitioners responsible for it is ridiculous. Firstly, whether the murders were done by Dorje Shugden practitioners are not remains to be proven. And even if it was proven, all Dorje Shugden practitioners cannot be held responsible for the acts of these individuals. It's like saying that since this particular serial killer was a Christian, all Christians are bad. That kind of generalisation is irresponsible and illogical.

The true story of Dorje Shugden and the criminal oppression of its practitioners would be a great story for any wannabe pulitzer prize winning journalist!

I recall reading in one report that the murdered victims were dealing with arm sales in Taiwan and it had to do with  financial conflict of that sort which led to their brutal murder.  One of the Dalai Lama's brothers was named in the involvement of the arm sale in Taiwan.  I wish I had saved that report now to share it with you.

I agree with grandmapele. Go to that link and read up.
How can Dorje Shugden be an Enlightened being and was worshipped by all high Lamas and then suddenly DS became a spirit? Does that means all the high Lamas were wrong in the first place thus the ban?
If DS is really a spirit how is it that there are still so many practicing DS and also demonstrating for the ban to be lifted?
No harm was ever done by the practitioners and lets hope the ban be lifted as soon as possible.

Good research Solomon Lang! Just from the sheer numbers of newspapers and periodicals in India you have found, I wonder how all of the respective newspaper editors going to fill up their work quotas daily to make them of interest to the readers?  From the article,  it is really nothing new from Tibetan Buddhism perspective point of view. The editor of the newspaper are trying to portray that there are some group of outlaw rebellious against their leader. In fact, this was a typical lopsided news thinking that HH Dalai Lama is the head of all sects of Buddhism in Tibet and unknowingly that each respective sect has their own spiritual head . Most probably, this “news” was cut and paste from some other sources!

Quote
The government-in-exile also accused the Shugden followers of making baseless allegations against the Dalai Lama and that they act as a tool for the Chinese government to slander spiritual leader's reputation.

The statement has clearly shown that CTA are ACCUSING the Shugden practitioners! CTA has not been able to provide any prove but kept accusing Shugden practitioners on against HH Dalai Lama. On the other hand, Shugden practitioners have all the proves and evident but CTA just ignore it. Look at the link shared by gramapele:

Read the attached link, thank you.

There are also many other links such as http://www.dorjeshugden.com/all-articles/news/attack-on-dorje-shugden-followers/ , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_K2lLe1H4cA#t=189
It is the CTA actions that have been harming HH Dalai Lama's reputation!

I would like to urge all to social media more and let the whole world to know about the discriminations and violence that has been done to the Shugden practitioners. What we want is just basic human rights as well as religious freedom for the Shugden practitioners! Please lift the ban!

Hundustan Times had merely quoted what the Central Tibetan Administration(CTA) had claimed about the security threats from Dorje Shugden followers, CTA's baseless accusations of the murder, violence and arson caused by Dorje Shugden followers and how Dorje Shugden followers were tools used by Chinese government to slander Dalai Lama!

Hindustan Times had not presented any story or true account about the negative effects of the ban on Dorje Shugden and His followers in this article! Without further and proper research, Hindustan Times had chosen to critize and attack these online social media sites that were established to help lift the ban on Dorje Shugden.

Reporter Naresh K Thakur from the Hindustan Times has given a very biased and untrue account of what had truly transpired. This article does not serve any purpose other than to create more confusion and wrong views about Dorje Shugden and His followers! This article is misleading! Hindustan Times had failed in its public duty to report responsibly and truthfully! However, wise readers can discern clearly the extreme biasness in this reporting! Wise readers need not guess whether CTA had any influence in this.....  I ask that Naresh K Thakur and the Hindustan Times to report truthfully and independently!  The Law of Cause and Effect or Karma is real and very fair, Naresh K Thakur and Hindustan Times must realise this or else they shall regret over their untrue reporting.

This article in the Hindustan Times is clearly misleading and an unfair attack on the Dorje Shugden followers. Mr. Naresh Thakur obviously did not conduct a thorough research on this subject when writing this article. Seems to me that he is trying to please His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Either that or he have been used by the CTA to spread the untruths.
Just wondering how the peaceful protestors are seen as extremists by the Tibetan government-in-exiled. As always, Shugden believers are always accused as the murderers of the three monks. What about the confusion the CTA is causing by the lies they are spreading and the disharmony among the Tibetans? Seems to be that the Tibetan government is killing the Tibet race.

It's journalists and media like these that create confusion and rumors just so their articles sell. But it would have more appeal to more people if this particular journalist had done more researches and present them to readers of the media. That would have sold more copies if that was the main reason of Hindustan Times. Unfortunately it was not.

Basically the Hindustan Times is just repeating what the Dalai Lama and the CTA is saying. To me it is just "lazy reporting". It is the safest way sometimes for reporters to fill their quota by reporting what is the view of the "authority"; in this case, they deemed it to be the Dalai Lama and the CTA.
Basically the Indian psychology is in denial or "cognitive dissonance" has kicked in to confirm their pre conceive views as in that the Indians has been hosting the 'exiled Tibetan government" since 1959 and even before that of the 13th Dalai Lama for 3 years. In recent times the Indian has put pressure that the title of "exile government" description be dropped resulting the name changed from "TGIE" to "CTA". The Indian, I expect would we the last to change their opinion of the Dalai Lama given they also have a common foe in the form of China.

So please expect Indians, the Indian press and the Indian Government to be pro Dalai Lama and the CTA because they have the most to loose and will look stupid otherwise. It will means 55 years wasted.

It's the CTA's that have been attacking Dorje Shugden followers online and offline, there are proofs scattering all over, if only there were more people who cared enough to gather them and show the world the truth. I'm pretty sure that there are some Dorje Shugden practitioners who are "bad", but just like anyone else, there must also some Dalai Lama's devotees who are "bad"; We can't really say anything as it's not definite.

How can people even do this? They claim that people are wrong and they make this completely biased newsletter and accuse the Shugden people for following a false deity just because the Dalai Lama put a ban on the worship of Dorje Shugden. Then people also accuse shugden people for the murder of monks. The Shugden people didn't even do anything except believe in something which is in their human rights unless in this modern day and age there cannot be a little religious diversity. Why must people be so closed minded and biased?

Aren't the people being punished enough? They are being discriminated, for a crime that is not even a crime, accused of murder and being ignored by the world because one person says that there is nothing he is holding against the worship of Dorje Shugden. We have to tell the world on all online platforms to show the world what is happening and to teach them to not be so closed minded. Bring the information to them and we must increase in numbers. We must lift the ban.
