btw, the green kadhampa lineage is not gelug, right? is it a new lineage? I know vaguely that it is reverting to Atisha's lineage... who is the head of this lineage and what monasteries is this related to? Just curious. thanks.
yes, green kadhampa lineage is not Gelug. Similarly, Tara is not Manjushri too. (both are manifestation of Buddha and disciple of Buddha Shakamuni)
Gelug is New Kadhampa, whereas Kadham is old lineage headed by Atisha and His dispicles till the establishment of Gelug. As explained before, the reverting back to Kadhampa is to extrigate from the messy affairs present within the Gelugpa and to restore the purity of the Buddha Shakyamuni Teachings.
All along the Kadhampa teachings are present within the Lamrim system that most of us are studying. Hence, it is not a new lineage at all and the restoration of this lineage is headed by Serkong Tritul Rinpoche. The monasteries belongs to Kadhampa sect.
As disciples of Serkong Tritul Rinpoche, we have to follow Him as if Nagajurna to His Guru, Saraha without questioning. Sometimes, Enlightenment Beings give appearance to certain ways that we find it hard to understand, but every actions has an underlying reason.
Just to relate a story, that although Saraha appear broken many ordain vows, in the end He called upon massive crowd and put up a show then embrace His prositute consort manifested as Charkasmvara. This lead to the massive crowds generating faith and took refuge to Nagajurna. This are some of the skillful means displayed by Enlightenment Beings to tame sentient beings
One thing is obvious that we DO NOT defy teachings that is passed down by the lineage Masters. Whatever that is recongised or acknowlegded by the qualified lineage masters such as Tutelary Buddhist deity, Protectors and Masters etc. when disacknowledged these will bring harmful influence to the teachings and sentient beings.
