I thought Rabten was really well spoken and right on.  I found it interesting some history he gave from back in 1996 when the ban first really got officialized, and some Dalai Lama person came in and was upset with the "spirit worship."  I was other schools of Buddhist too-- so for me this would be really wonderful if this ban could come down and people would be allowed to be seen talking to Shugdens in India etc.  I saw the results of the ban in India and Nepal back in 2001.... and I also kept getting asked what Dharma Protectors do I pray to while in Dharmasala-- but I was so new I didn't actually pray to Mahakala yet--- which was the lineage I was with's protector--- and i hadn't heard of Shugden until someone told me about it in nepal--- and then I found out we could hang out with Shugdens but better not ask them anything about their practice so the DL people wouldn't get mad.... so for me, it was interesting to hear how this was from someone who was already teaching in the NKT--- was already very much involved with Shugden--- right when the nonsense first began in earnest.  Interesting history.  Anyway, Rabten is really good at explanations.
