New Arrivals @ Shar Gaden Monastery

Sure looks like Shar Gaden is growing as more and more children are being enrolled in to Shar Gaden. Parents are sending their sons there knowing about Dorje Shugden ban clearly shows me their loyalty towards their lineage and practice and GURU! So if anyone is telling you that the Dorje Shugden monasteries are not growing and there is not much news... PLEASEEEEE CHECK AGAIN :)

On the morning of the 8th of July, 2012, 67 new students arrived here at the monastery to enroll as novice monks. Many of these newcomers are from very small villages in Nepal and have come a long way to study at our monastery. In most cases, they have been sent here by their parents to provide their children with an opportunity to receive an in-depth education in the Buddha-Dharma, as well as secular subjects. Shar Gaden Monastery has an outstanding reputation for providing a disciplined and rigorous study program, so it was an easy choice for these families as to where their children would receive a comprehensive education.

The monastery will take full responsibility for providing the accommodations, health care, education, daily sustenance, monks robes, including any and all other needs that come up in caring for these newcomers.

Each new novice monk has been randomly assigned a senior monk who will now serve as their personal teacher. The appointed personal teachers will take care of the new students on a day to day basis and also provide him with additional education as needed.

WELCOME TO YOUR NEW HOME!

These monks just arrived at Shar Gaden not Serpom, although a few months back while I was staying at the Shar Gaden Guest House in Delhi, about 50+ monks arrived on their way to Serpom. Both monasteries have grown considerably this past year alone.

Dear Losang_tenpa

Are the 50+ monks that went to Serpom migrated from other monasteries or novice monks?

Thank you dsiluvu for a wonderful update of Shar Gaden Monastery. It is so promising to see these young monks pursuing a wonderful educational life within the cloister of the monastery. They have such wonderful merits to be little monks in the making and may they be blessed by Manjushri Dorje Shugden to grow up to be great scholars and Dharma teachers so they can proliferate Lama Tsongkhapa and Dorje Shugden out into the world.

I think that these monasteries will eventually outgrow their mother monastery because being alone, the monastery has to struggle and learn how to do things better and faster than others in order to survive and proliferate this tradition. If the ban comes down within the predicted timeframe, there's even a chance for unification with the mother monastery. Then Dorje Shugden would be spread faster within the monastic circles. All in all, the future of Dorje Shugden rests with these young monks. They will be next generation of Dharma teachers that will spread it all over the world.
