Horrendous indeed is this picture of a human zombie , under the influence of a powerful drug, LSD, chewing the face of another human being! My take is that, not only was he under the influence of a powerful drug, but that this drug had allowed into this zombie's mind, evil, vengeful spirits, who had taken possession of him as well.

This powerful drug had opened up seeds of powerful negative karma as well as fuel his karmic instincts/tendencies to murderous violence and beastly, animal-like  behaviour.

One of the long term consequences of taking meat is that ,over lifetimes, it will breed a love and craving for raw flesh of any kind, even human flesh. This is what is stated in Shabkar's "Food of Bodhisattvas" , and it actually comes from the 'Lankavatara-sutra' !

Until we are completely purified, we have both good and bad seeds in our mind streams. When we are seated in the comforts of our homes, news such as the one reported from Miami shocked us. However, are we so sure that if tested in extreme situation, are we not capable of committing the same "horror" ?

I have heard of parents eating their children in famine, team mates eating each other up when they were stranded up in the Himalayas mountains. During Polpot's regime, extremely inhuman treatments were administered to fellow country men.

One of the 10 precepts is refrain from taking intoxicants . The holy being understands us  well , we are a mixture of good and bad. Thus all vows and commitments are meant to protect us from "unlocking the devil within".
