KATHMANDU — The International Buddha Dhamma Conference (Dorje Shugden) has started from Thursday.

Organised by the Nepal Rastriya Dorje Shugden Samaj, the three-day conference is focused on promoting Buddhist literature, preaching and philosophy, and ways to bring together the followers of Buddhist religion in the world, said the organisers. A total of 80 representatives from various 20 countries including Nepal, India, Mongolia and Italy are participating in the conference.

Speaking on the occasion, Defence Minister Bhimsen Das Pradhan acknowledged the Buddhist philosophy as spreading a message of peace, non-violence, fraternity and harmony, while saying the Nepal’s constitution has granted freedom of religion.

Likewise, former minister Krishna Gopal Shrestha lamented the failure on the part of the government and Nepali people alike to spread the Buddhist literature and philosophy to its maximum limit.

The Samaj’s Chairperson Basundhara Shrestha expressed hope that the conference could help maintain and spread a message of peace and unity around the world. (Trainee journalist Prakriti Pandey)

The Chinese Government has invested 100's of millions of dollars into Nepal infrastructure.

Nepal's Government has as a result now taken a pro Dorje Shugden position.

The 14th Dalai Lama has lost any power he had in Nepal.

China and Dorje Shugden win again.

It is good that the Nepali government comes out to reiterate that the Nepal’s constitution has granted freedom of religion. Everyone wants a happy life. No one wants conflict and having to live in fear. Life itself is hard enough as it is. Why make a difference of opinion or worship  a source of conflict and pain? Can we all not agree to disagree and be able to be harmonious?

So, glad that there's this conference to foster unity and solidarity. Bravo to the Nepali government for seeing the need for such and be a part of something positive to move forward with.

Wonderful conference for many to come together to share on the Buddhadharma. Conferences like this are important to bridge different cultures and understanding of the dharma based on the different school of thoughts. Nepal is paving its steps to another level and to be closer to the international arena and hopefully solving the poverty issue of the country soon!

Rejoice that there is such an International Conference organised by the Nepal Rastriya Dorje Shugden Samaj.

To maintain harmony in a country, freedom to religion is very important and Nepal goverment has done a great job by granting the freeodom to religion thru their constitution. When is CTA going to wake up and do the same to allow their people to have freedom to choose their religion?

It is obviously good reflection of the Nepali leadership who understands the value of religious freedom and respect as well as observe such a basic right in allowing for such conference to take place. Quite unlike CTA who trample upon people’s choice of religion and even criminalise those who disagree with CTA’s stance about religion but yet shamelessly claim to be democratic in nature.

Kudos to the Nepali government who walks the talk and also to those who made such a conference happen. After all, any effort towards promoting, maintaining and spreading a message of peace and unity around the world is definitely a good thing.

It is truly great news that the Nepali government gives the right to the Dorje Shugden people to have this conference in Kathmandu and shows that they are a democratic country who values religious freedom and the right of all people to express themselves freely and safely without fear of repercussions.

And on the other hand the sad truth about the Tibetan Administration in Exile or CTA who does everything against religious freedom and democracy. It is such a disaster for the Tibetans that this government leads them yet they do not act in democratic ways - so what message do they send out!?!

Why does the CTA want to be in charge when they don't act according to basic democratic rules?

For me this is a no brainer, modern people these days would always welcome religion freedom. We have internet these days and can use our very own judgement to believe or pray into what we want to and do not need anyone especially the government to come and tell us we cannot pray to this and can only pray to that and if you do not wish to follow then you will be ostracised, separated from your loved ones, denied of basic human rights to access to public services and many more. Sounds very familiar right? That's CTA!

More details on what transpired during the conference including the resolutions made are found at;

Such encouraging news on the positive winds of change and totally agree that “the most significant difference that this conference has made is that it has given a platform for those loyal to the true Gelugpa lineage to get organized, to combine their efforts and resources, and to focus on the common issues, all of which come together to pave the way for the future of Je Tsongkhapa’s tradition”.

This is such a good news for Dorje Shugden practitioners ????????????????????????. Dorje Shugden practitioners from all corners of the world including Lamas and representative of Lamas were also at the meeting. Such meeting is good so that all Dorje Shugden practitioners will be in contact and in the same track and everyone gets to speak up their opinions and suggestions to better the lives of the Dorje Shugden practitioners. I hope they will continue to hold this kind of meeting once a year or once every 2 years to update and discuss on any issues that arises.

Agree with @Belinda Mae that it really is such good news for Dorje Shugden practitioners.

It really is great for Dorje Shugden practitioners from different parts of the world to come in contact and work with each other to better the lives of the Dorje Shugden practitioners.

It is further so encouraging for all to show support for each other in the face of the problems and difficulties cause by CTA’s illegal and illogical ban on the Dorje Shugden practice. Such great show of comradery, the spirit of friendship and community in a group who keep each other upbeat despite the difficulty of their circumstances. After all, we, Dorje Shugden practititioners are all in this together.

This is a big improvement for the Dorje Shugden issue. All the Dorje Shugden lamas join forces to work towards lifting the ban. We wish very much that positive results will manifest from this conference and more and more Dorje Shugden people will come together to end the sufferings of many around the world?
