Just thought Id draw everyones attention back to this thread. There are plenty of prayers to Dorje Shugden on the website which new practitioners may find helpful: http://www.dorjeshugden.com/category/prayers/

If you notice, their all written by some kind of attained master of the Gelug tradition. Even the Dalai Lama himself, the current 14th one has composed summit. Its titled "Melody of the Unceasing Vajra by the 14th Dalai Lama" http://www.dorjeshugden.com/prayers/dorje-shugden-prayers/melody-of-the-unceasing-vajra-by-the-14th-dalai-lama/

It makes you wonder. Yeah so the Dalai Lama gave up the practice and yeah the Dalai Lama is Chenrezig. But how can someone who is CHenrezig make a mistake for 30 years?? And for 30 years, how can Chenrezig have missed the fact Shugden is a spirit (which is what is being claimed now)? And even then, for 30 years not only did he practise Shugden but Chenrezig even composed praises about him! Boggles the mind, theres absolutely no logic in the anti-Shugden peoples arguments!

Yes, one can overlook the fact that the Dalai Lama is Chenrezig which means he is already enlightened. Enlightened beings don't become unenlightened. Therefore it becomes illogical that the Dalai Lama is wrong in the past that Dorje Shugden is an enlightened protector and now he is right that Dorje Shugden is a spirit.

If he is right in the past and he is right now. It is illogical too.

Or he is right in the past and he is wrong now. It points to fact he is fallible. Not making sense if he is Chenrezig.

Fruven,

Has it occurred to you that right and wrongs is from our side and not from His Holiness side? We seem to take right and wrong a discreet objective phenomena i.e. black and white. Why can't is be subjective and not absolute.

In this case I choose to believe with logical understanding the the Dalai Lama was right that the Protector Dorje Shugden is an enlightened Protector and and wrong that he is a spirit. The latter proves my point of subjectivities in that some at present regard Dorje Shugden as enlightened and some a spirit.

Contrast that with the fact that some other religion may regard the Buddha as a spirit. We need to contemplate.

In summary, it is not about what the Dalai Lama said, unless you are his disciple, then his is right. If not follow your Guru.

Thank you for the prayers to Protector Dorje Shugden and I personally like having him as my powerful best friend.

I find that Yontenjamyang's comment to make sense. All the rights and wrongs are in our head. As followers of the Dalai Lama, naturally they will regard Dorje Shugden as "spirit" and as followers of our own Shugden Gurus, we accept that Dorje Shugden to be fully enlightened. It is really our expectations that are playing the game of right/wrong with us.

However, what is wrong is really the ban that should not have affected the lives of Shugden practitioners. It is a violation of human rights and religious freedom to practise. There should not be segregation, persecution, threats and abuse for your religious preference. And most of all, everyone should be given the freedom to purchase their daily necessities, attend schooling, have work opportunity, medical care and financial aids from donations meant to help. Based on these violations, the Dalai Lama should remove the ban immediately to give credence to his teaching on compassion and love of mankind.

If he can even compose a prayer for Dorje Shugden, why after so many years he now claims that Dorje Shugden is a spirit? Can Enlightened Being or Chenrezig make mistake? A mistake that has caused so much sufferings for Shugdenpas. I hope the Dalai Lama/Chenrezig, out of compassion will lift the ban.

I'd like to point out that it is not just the Gelugpas masters and the Dalai Lama who 'made a mistake'. The enthronment prayer listed on this website was composed by the 31st Sakya Trizin Kunga Lodro (http://www.dorjeshugden.com/prayers/dorje-shugden-prayers/dorje-shugden-enthronement-prayer/).

It is indeed like what pgdharma said, illogical that only after 30 years, and even after composing a prayer dedicated to Dorje Shugden that His Holiness realised the practice is not advisable to be practised. Also, His Holiness did grant the right to practice Dorje Shugden to Kyabje Trijang Chocktrul Rinpoche. So why is it that Chocktrul Rinpoche is allowed to 'worship spirit'? It doesn't make sense at all.

It was the Sakya Lamas who first enthroned Dorje Shugden. History shows that the propitiation of Dorje Shugden was first practised by the Sakyas. According to some accounts, Dorje Shugden was inducted into the pantheon of Sakya protectors by Sakya Trizin Sonam Rinchen (1705-1741). Later, Sonam Rinchen placed Dorje Shugden together with two other Protectors: Setrab and Tsi’u Marpo. Collectively, they were known as the “Three Kings” (Gyalpo Sum).

In the Sakya texts, Dorje Shugden is known as Dorje Shugden Tanag, or Dorje Shugden Riding a Black Horse. He holds a butcher’s stick upraised in the right hand and a heart in the left, lifted up to the mouth. He is dressed in robes of a monk and wears a gold riding hat. He sits on top of a black horse. Dorje Shugden is practised in many Sakya Monastery, up till recently when His Holiness 41st Sakya Trizin asked all the Sakya Monastery to stop worshipping.

Thank you for sharing these wonderful prayers of the most powerful protector. They are amazing and they are the prayers of my protector. May the ban fall soon and may the monks in need of DS right now find peace under the pressure of the discrimination with their practice and protector. Thank you again for sharing and thank you for sharing such a positive post.

Thank you Vajraprotector for highlighting the fact that other Tibetan Buddhist schools besides the Gelug, pray to Dorje Shugden too. As we read up and study more on Dorje Shugden, we are directed to the reality that all the allegations made by the anti-Shugden people were not true and the ban on Shugden practice is illogical.

The prayers to Dorje Shugden contained in the provided links are deeply meaningful and they certainly must have comforted and guided many people in their difficulties. There is not a hint of hatred or violence in those prayers at all. How could DS practice be called a spirit worship? I pray that the ban would be lifted soonest so that the sufferings of those affected by this illegal ban could be stopped.

Thank you to all who posted extra links to more prayers to Dorje Shugden in this forum.

It's been very interesting to note that there are prayers from other schools of Tibetan Buddhism like the Sakya school. In fact, one the first prayers to Dorje Shugden came from the Sakyas.

The CTA has muddied the spiritual water so much by fanning the fervor of the followers of  the Dalai Lama and encouraged the discrimination against the practitioners of Dorje Shugden. The CTA are such politicians using the ban on Dorje Shugden practice to distract the Tibetans in exile from the real issue of their inability to bring China to the negotiation table.

But thanks to all who posted links. It's been interesting and informative.
