So... what is the point?

We get through one adversity and there comes another one.
We get through again and there comes a bigger one...
We secure this or that part of our life, or we think we do, and then a big threat comes about that needs us to counter it (if we can).

Very much, what we do in this life of ours is just like what children do when they build sand castles on the beach that the high tide destroys and then they rebuild them.
Well, it's like this but with one difference though: the children know that the sand castles won't survive the waves, they even enjoy the slow decomposition of the castles, but we, adults, have managed to convince ourselves that we could build sand castles that are wave resistant, and in all fairness we have succeeded sometimes at building some sand castles that have resisted through a few high tides, but they always fail us eventually.

Facing adversity again and again like this, facing disappointment, facing unfulfilled expectations, this is Sisyphe all over again!

Eventually, we will fail, our bodies will fail us, and we'll have to let go of all that we have built, possessions, comfort, reputation, even our children will only have a memory left as the object of their love, for we will be gone.

The only constructive way to direct our efforts in "fighting" all these adversities that existence throws at us is to embrace a Dharmic life by which we build conditions to better ourselves, to gain compassion, to gain wisdom, to gain freedom and then to give back the LOVE.

This is constructive, short term, medium term and long term, everything else only gives you medium term improvement at best...
That's the point.
