Despite all the protest and all, Dorje Shugden is a Buddha. Glad that you have made your research and studies before going into this practice. Some of the reasons why Dorje Shugden is a Buddha and not a spirit as claimed by the Dalai Lama is: 1. The lineage lamas like Trijang Rinpoche and Pabongkha Rinpoche , recently Denma Gonsar Rinpoche, are practicing this practice and they will come back life after life to continue to teach. if it was a spirit, then the lamas will not come back and will be reborn in hell. This is not the case. 2. Dorje Shugden helped the Dalai Lama escape Tibet during the Chinese invasion. It is through the oracle that the Dalai Lama was advised to leave and what route to take to ensure his safety. The Dalai Lama also requested a Dorje Shugden Thangka from Trijang Rinpoche before he took on the journey to safe guard him and his people. However, this was not said by the Dalai Lama himself but was confirmed by the Chushi Gangdruk (the guards that protect the Dalai Lama). 3. Many monasteries which practices Dorje Shugden has flourished in India, Tibet and the West despite the ban. May your practice become stronger and my you help in assisting the lifting of the ban.
