The enthronement ritual is traditionally performed at the end of the medium or long Dorje Shugden Kangsol (propitiation text), originally composed by Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche in Melodious Drum Victorious in All Directions, and is an investiture of power and authority placed upon Dorje Shugden by the practitioner.

The enthronement prayer seals the merits of Dorje Shugden’s blessings in a particular location, image or practitioner’s life. Through this ritual, one is able to consecrate statues, pictures and thangkas of Dorje Shugden. It is also a request for Dorje Shugden to reside in a particular location, thus blessing the place and dispelling various negativities and interferences.

Most importantly, the enthronement ritual plays a key role in supporting the growth and flourishing of the Dharma, particularly if performed in a location that will be used for the practice and furtherance of Lama Tsongkapa’s rare lineage.

OM SARVA BI PURA PURA SURA SURA AWARTAYA AWARTAYA HO BENZA PARANAKAM(recite 3x)

The enthronement ritual begins with the recitation of a special mantra that enthrones and empowers Dorje Shugden, followed by special requests that delineate the reason and purpose of the enthronement.

HUM
We enthrone you as the holy venerable one
Inseparable with root and lineage Vajradhara gurus,
Grantor of infinite easy attainments
And dispeller of all obstructions on the path without exception!

In the first verse, Dorje Shugden is enthroned as a fully enlightened monarch who has the same qualities as our root Guru and the rest of the enlightened lineage Gurus stemming directly from the Buddha.

With this Buddha nature, Dorje Shugden is also enthroned as the protector deity who bestows all common and uncommon attainments. Common attainments are those that are common to both Sutra and Tantra, for instance Bodhichitta, renunciation, valid view of reality and so forth. Uncommon attainments are those specific to Tantra, such as those of the generation and completion stages.

We enthrone you in the nature embodying the three refuges;
The fully enlightened, verbal and realised dharma’s sovereign,
Holy dharma, peaceful, freed from all attachment,
And Sangha, untiring in serving others’ welfare!

Next, Dorje Shugden is enthroned as the holiest object embodying the Three Jewels of Buddha, Dharma and Sangha, in which we take refuge.

From emptiness’s great sphere, whatever various forms will subdue
Full distinctly appear like the moon’s reflection in water;
Principal of all Tantric sets’ countless mandalas,
We enthrone you in nature of the yidam deity!

Dorje Shugden is then recognized as having direct perception of emptiness or Shunyata. He is praised as being equal to the Tantric deities and is thus enthroned as an equal of a Buddha-Yidam. In this verse, the practitioner recognizes Dorje Shugden’s enlightened qualities and enthrones him accordingly to create the merits to achieve the same qualities.

In form of a red raksha protecting, without exception,
The temple libraries of Jambudvipa,
The teachings, and Sangha assembly upholding them,
We enthrone you as principal of all dharmapalas!

In this verse, Dorje Shugden is praised as the special guardian of the scriptural and oral lineage teachings. We also request him to protect practitioners and members of the Sangha, thereby protecting the spread of the lineage and its teachings.

Powerful king granting all wished common and supreme attainments
To anyone who properly relies on and propitiates you;
Bestowing all easily like a wish-granting gem,
We enthrone you as protector who fulfils all hopes!

We, master, disciples, and entourage,
Entrust ourselves to you, protector, guard us unceasingly!
Pacify all negative circumstances and grant accomplishment
Of whatever desired attainments at our mere wish!

In the final verse, we request Dorje Shugden to remove all difficulties and problems resulting from our negative karmas that may distract or pull us away from the spiritual path. Lastly, Dorje Shugden is entreated to accomplish whatever purpose that the practitioner requests.

Dungkar Monastery (in Tibetan means white conch-shell monastery) is Domo Geshe Rinpoche’s monastery, it was destroyed but was rebuilt again last year by the local people. When the construction plan was going on, suddenly a swarm of bees appeared on the site, the people found it annoying and planned of get rid of the beehive on the day of reconstruction itself, or else the work could not begin. However, on the day of reconstruction itself, suddenly all the bees were gone, and what was left behind was a white color beehive, and it looked just like a WHITE CONCH-SHELL.

June 14-15, 2010, The 11th Panchen Lama Bainqen Erdini Qoigyijabu, Vice president of The Buddhist Association of China, was having two days Dharma teaching at his home monastery, Tashi Lhunpo.

He was teaching on “The Three Principal Paths” to both sanghas and lay people, also giving blessing by touching their heads. This is the first public dharma teaching by 11th Panchen lama after his enthronement.

Buddha Unfolding Festival

Each year, from the 15th to 16th day of the 5th Tibetan month, Tashi Lhunpo monastery will be celebrating their Buddha Unfolding Festival. Sanghas are getting ready for the festival one day before the festival.

During the festival, farmers and herdsmen of Tsang area will gather at Shigatse, as well as pilgrims from other places. They believe that even a glimpse of Buddha’s face will help them accumulate tremendous merit.

The 11th Panchen Lama, or Panchen Erdeni (secular name: Gyaincain Norbu), has been recognized as the reincarnated child of the 10th Panchen Lama on November 29, 1995 after the “lot-drawing from the golden urn” in front of Buddha Shakyamuni Statue in Jokhang Monastery and the approval of the State Council.

Gyaincain Norbu was born on February 13, 1990 in an ordinary family in Lhari County in northern Tibet Autonomous Region. His father Soinam Chaghba and mother Sanggyai Zhoima have both completed their primary school education.

They gave birth to a beautiful boy with fair skin, bright shiny eyes with a mole on his right face. His face resembled a Buddha, thus Sanggyai Zhoima’s father named his grandson “Gyaincain Norbu”, which means “The holy victory banner”.

Visiting Reting Monastery

The 11th Panchen Lama Bainqen Erdini Qoigyijabu with a group of people went to Reting Monastery at Lhasa for pilgrimage. This was the first time the 11th Panchen Lama doing pilgrimage at this monastery after his enthronement in year 1995.

Visiting Reting Monastery is one of the Dharma activities the 11th Panchen Lama planned to do in his trip to Lhasa. According history, every incarnation of Panchen lama would pay pilgrimage to Reting Monastery including the 10th Panchen Lama when he was young.

When the 11th Panchen lama and the group of people reached Reting Monastery at 9.30am, more than one hundred monks from the monastery and over 100 local people, all lined up at both sides of the road to welcome the arrival of His Holiness the 11th Panchen Lama.

The 11th Dalai Lama Khedrup Gyatso

Here is the direct quote which is quoted directly from Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche’s autobiagraphy on page 123-124:-

Enthroned as guardian of the Yellow Hat Teachings,
By the Chinese emperor, the Dalai Lama, and his regent

As for this, during the first period of the time of the eleventh Dalai Lama Kedrup Gyatso and the regent Ratreng Hotogtu Ngawang Yeshe Tsultrim Gyaltsen, the Great Dharma King Nechung and the Lhasa Trokang Gyalchen Shugden were both swift to perform activities and both were very renowned to give accurate prophesies.

Resident in Tibet was a high Chinese minister who was powerful and oppressive named Amben Che Trungtang. He had some very important questions to ask for prophecy that he had written in Chinese.

He came to the Lhasa Trode Kangsar Protector Palace and, in front of the image of the Dharmapala, burned the questions he had written in Chinese, and demanded that the Dharmapala (Shugden) give clear prophesies in answer to his questions during an invocation the following day.

When Dharmapala was invoked the next day, he gave explicit powerful answers to the questions in the correct order. Trungtang, with delighted conviction, informed the emperor Dhakong who awarded a proclamation of praise to Gyalchen of the Trokang Temple with a pandit’s hat, and also gave a pandit’s hat to Nechung at the same time.

The regent Ratreng, the Kashag, the Shabpa, the head secretary and so forth, ordained and lay officials from the high to low, and the Chinese Amban and his entourage went to Nechung in the morning and after a ceremonial offering of the new pandit’s hat, then went to Lhasa Trode Kangsar. There, in the center of a large stone courtyard, inside a pitched tent, in an elaborate auspicious ceremony, over the door of the protector palace was offered the pandit’s award.

The Trokang oracle, the temple monks, and general chief monks, with the regent Ratreng Rinpoche, the Chinese Amban, the Kashag, and Shabpa as chief attendees, Tibetan and Chinese people of all ranks were offered a feast and had a huge festival.

With the Chinese emperor Dhakong and the Lord of Buddhas, the Dalai Lama, patron and lama together, they all praised and enthroned Gyalchen Dorje Shugden as principal protector of the Yellow Hat Teachings as praised in this part of the verse.

I have seen with my own eyes a record of this and the previously related story in which the minister Bumtangpa was saved from execution, in the notations of the office of the Kashag of the Tibetan government, in the guest book diary for the respective dates where the essence of what occurred in each instance was described.

From Shugden’ s puja praise:
“Enthroned as guardian of the Yellow Hat Teachings
By the Chinese emperor, the Dalai Lama, and his regent,
You generated the intent to protect the Teachings from now
Until the Buddha, Aspiring One, praise to you!”

从今乃至胜解如来间,发心保护教法尊前赞!
