The Dalai Lama has just inaugurated a three-day international Buddhist conference Friday in Nalanda district in Bihar, India with the theme: "The Relevance of Buddhism in the 21st Century."

"He said the 21st-century Buddhists must use their intelligence and conduct analytical observation rather than blindly follow the faith," he said.

I wish more Tibetans especially in India would heed His Holiness' advice.

The Tibetans in India has been following the Dalai Lama's advice on banning the Dorje Shugden practise blindly for the past 21 years. Isn't it ironic that on one hand the Dalai Lama encourages analytical observation but on the other hand encourages blind faith in Him that allows dictatorship to continue in the Tibetan society. Many modern Tibetans had began to practise analytical observations since they are now being brought up in countries that encourages that, including India.

Is this why the Dalai Lama goes around stirring the pot in the 17th Karmapa issue, the 11th Panchen Lama issue, and the Dorje Shugden issue? to see if his followers are just cultist followers or real practitioners of the teachings? To see, if they really know the essence of the teachings of the Victorious One, The Awakened One, to see beyond the upfront instructions and question and debate to seek the truth?

If that is the case, then his students are failing big time!! Not only that, they have created negative karma by causing even more suffering for many. Or, is that again another way for those who have the karma to suffer those pains to suffer it and exhausted them?

From a mundane point of view, that is so very disturbing a thought.

Whatever are the divine methods and thoughts of the Dalai Lama, disharmony is created which is against the Dalai Lama's consistent teachings.

Maybe time to change the methods and lift the Ban on Dorje Shugden and harmony will be restored.

I totally agree with what His Holisness emphasize on “the 21st-century Buddhists must use their intelligence and conduct analytical observation rather than blindly follow the faith,"

Unfortunately when religious been used and mixed with politic the inteligence which supposed to be use to analyze the pure doctrine of Buddhist teaching has been distorted for selfish objective which just to benefit political agenda.

For example, Dorje Shugden practice which has been ban by the Tibetan leadership. Under what logical explanation has it been justified? When we used our intelligence to conduct analytical observation it doesn’t make sense at all. There is only suffering caused from the ban. On this point a lot of people which are His Holiness supporters are still blindly follow what His Holiness had advice so isn’t it sound contradicting?

Shouldn’t His Holiness advice the Tibetan leaders to practice what has been advice first and show by example. Dorje Shugden ban is a serious ostracise matter that going on for the longest time and looking at how much effort, fund, resources that the Tibetan leaders used to implement it’s very sad.

Many people around the world use their intelligence to analyze Shugden ban issue and so many disagreement has been voice out. We wish that the Tibetan leadership and His Holiness can look into this and walk the talk too.
