Thank you Kensur Sonam Gyaltsen Rinpoche for speaking up for all the Dorje Shugden practitioners. Being a monk I believe the monastery is their home. The guru is their parents. How can it be someone out of no where came and tell them to cut off all Dharmic and worldly material relationship with their Gurus. On top of that it is against monk vows. They have dont nothing wrong but just wanted to practice dharma. I hope this letter will wake up many people and stop forcing the monks to do so. It's so unfair to them. They are telling the world that the Shanga who are the people that practice to have the freedom of mind do not allowed to have freedom to practice their protector practice that has been given by their holy guru.

"You forced us monks to cut off all Dharmic and worldly material relationship with them, I cannot do it, because I am a monk, according to Tibetan traditional vinaya code a monk is not allowed to swear. This code is also in Shakyamuni’s Vinaya scripture towards the end, page 392, you can go and check for yourselves. You should request Samdhong Rinpoche, “Please be compassionate, don’t let the monks swear, because monks are not allowed to swear.” But you didn’t request, and you followed Samdhong Rinpoche’s order and you swore, and caused the great Gaden Monastery to fall apart into different factions. I did not swear because I did not want to create schism among Sangha. Some people abuse the vinaya power in their hands, this is widely known, it is like our Tibetan proverbs “The person in charge of the water flour mill is not the main person-in-charge, the head of the farm village is not the government officials.”

These are truly words of a Great Lama who speaks with such compassionate courage. So many monks who have cut off ties and people in the TGIE (now CTA) can learn from this letter. How dare they command monks to go against their vows of not swearing!? Have they not heard of bad karma? This letter gives me courage to continue my practise without any fears and hesitation. Thank you Rinpoche.

Very interesting points of view on the ban from this letter, and can feel the heartache of Gyudmed Kensur Sonam Gyaltsen Rinpoche. Didn't know monks are not allowed to swear. Can anyone tell me why this is so? I really wonder how and why the Tibetan government-in-exile can still hold with their (il)logic for having the ban on Dorje Shugden... its baffling.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. However, every individual has the right to decide for themselves. You decided to continue with your worship, others decided to stop doing that. You can very well defend your action but you don't have any right to speak for other monks and public in general. May you continue to focus more on bhuddist praching.
