I think the idea in HH the Dali Lama befriending the Western nations was that through economic leverage (business, money of course) these western nations would influence China to relax its policies regarding Tibet... Yes it seems that we (America) are in economic "bed' with China and the best result so far is the "Autonomous Region of Tibet" under Chinese control. I believe in a peoples' right to a free and independent state if they desire, and am sorry our influence has not been greater to accomplish that. My prayer is that Tibetans can achieve their goals with out further physical violence and loss of life.

You all have been following your master for decades and decades.
You should have protested there itself, why protest now.
master is master, and he never let's you suffer nor abandon you.

your points are right, and your master must have heard and seen, before the comments that propped out in your heart.

Patience.................................................................................................................

As the years go by there are less and less Tibetans who have actually seen their homeland. Once in Singapore at an official conference, met one young Tibetan from Tibet and he said they had to change their names to chinese one too.

Also, met a Tibetan girl from Taiwan who was a news presenter in Chinese. Ok, Taiwan is not China (at least not for the Taiwanese) but what I mean is that Tibetans wherever they are in the world are slowly adapting to their environment and one day even if, actually when, Tibet gains independence how many from outside would actually leave everything they have wherever they are and return to their Motherland?

I'm glad that Tibetans are keeping the protests, demands, and voices heard. Culture also is being preserved.

FREE TIBET!!

Sonam Gyatsho (Keshav Gurung)
(name given to me by HH Dalai Lama's teacher)

Eventually Tibetans both from within and without might lose their enthusiasm for their cause of a free Tibet.
