It is a ceremony that would be very hot. During the ceremony, the monks are not able to stop what they are doing to take a drink or wipe their sweat. Hence, there should be a person that would help the monk to do this. While the monk pours the offerings into the fire, he would be holding the vajra as well. It is custom that they do not let go of the vajra during the fire puja. Grabbing the offerings with four fingers and pouring it into the fire with four fingers.
