Buddhas appear as ordinary to bring people to the Dharma through skillful means, even manifesting themselves as birds, demons and evil persons. Lama Tsongkhapa's teachings need to be protected and that's why we have Dorje Shugden. If we read about the histories of all these Dharma Protectors, we will understand why they manifested and why they needed to take on certain forms. However, that doesn't mean you have the right to criticize other practices different from what your Guru teaches. Unless one is enlightened, one can't read others' minds. Many saints were condemned by their contemporaries. Work on oneself diligently instead of being distracted by hearsay. If you are a practitioner with a qualified Guru, it would be best you follow what your Guru tells you. However, that doesn’t mean you have the right to criticize other practices different from what your Guru teaches.

Unless one is enlightened, one can’t read others’ minds. Many saints were condemned by their contemporaries. Work on oneself diligently instead of being distracted by hearsay.
