You have to get that deal, the pressure is on. That multi-million dollar project will either make or break your career, and you know that you need to ace your sales pitch to the right person to catapult you onto a fast-track path to success.

So there I was, stressing out for a month before our sales pitch for a massive project. We were in full force for our preparations – our presentation, ideas, concepts, strategy and plans had to sell. I had heard that we weren’t the only ones tendering for the project and we were up against some of the top players in the industry. What kept me grounded during the late night slogging was my prayers and faith in Dorje Shugden. That’s about it.

After a month of late nights and meetings, we were up for our presentation. It was finally here, and we were all ready. We had given it our all and were mentally prepared. As we walked into the meeting room, to our horror, we found out that the man-in-charge, the director, couldn’t attend the meeting. He was the one that would be key in deciding who gets the tender, and he wasn’t there.

So we had to present, to 3 other guys, the executives, who would then convey their thoughts to the director. It wasn’t the same, and we were dismayed. After our presentation, we thanked them and left, knowing that luck wasn’t on our side and that the message from our presentation wouldn’t be conveyed to the director by the executives in a manner we would’ve liked. This promising 3 year contract we had a shot at was fast slipping away.

I called them up a few times after to ask for another meeting with the director, this time to present our pitch to him directly. I didn’t get any callbacks – I was desperate and so were my prayers. Each night, I had prayed for another opportunity. It was all I asked for. One day, a thought struck me, that instead of sitting around and waiting, I should go directly to the office, to create an opportunity for myself. Why not? There was nothing to lose.

So the very next day I went to the office, and just as I was walking to the entrance of the building, the director, the guy I needed to see, was walking out! So I stopped him on his way, and literally introduced myself and a short brief of what our company had to offer in less than 2 minutes. I think I must have made an impact and did a pretty decent job – he immediately scheduled in an appointment for us the very next day to give our team an opportunity to do our full presentation again! I was over the moon.

We did our presentation, and we nailed it. There were some negotiations on the quote, but after that was settled, we got the contract! The director was impressed with what we had to offer, and he did say that when his executives told him about our team, he was half-hearted and wasn’t very interested. He was glad we were able to present what we had to offer directly to him.

Sometimes we just need the right conditions to appear, and this time, I believe very much that it was because of my consistent prayers to Dorje Shugden that we got a second chance. I do not think that it would be so coincidental that all the right thoughts and conditions arose from sheer fate. I also reckon that I was blessed with the power of persuasive speech, to turn the mind of the director around! It definitely is the divine help and protection that my guiding light, Dorje Shugden, gave to me and I am eternally grateful for the boost He has given to my career.

When I first became involved actively with the study of the Lamrim, and as I did further research on the Internet about the Gelugpa teachings and its lineage, I came across the controversy of Dorje Shugden. At first, I searched more to find out what it was about and quickly realized that I just could not make any sense of it AT ALL!

The statements of the Dalai Lama seemed contradictory and it didn’t make much sense at all to me. Then I saw the images of monks demonstrating with banners asking the Dalai Lama to stop…. lying???? Some were even describing him as a… dictator??? Then, he also said that his own teachers were… wrong??

I had been through some parts of the Lamrim by then, and had the determination to study it more as it was answering all of my questions. So I decide to COMPLETELY ignore the topic of Dorje Shugden. Every time I came across it on the Internet, I just did not look at it, did not read anything about it and kept it at the back of my mind, to be explored later when I would have sufficient knowledge and be able to understand the dynamics at play.

I did this because there was one answer from the Dalai Lama to a formal request for clarifications sent by Western Gelugpa monks: “Your main concern should be the study and realization of the 18 volumes of Lama Tsongkhapa”. And so, following the Dalai Lama’s advice, I too set myself to study the Lamrim before entertaining a polemic in my mind.

It was only months later that, through the kindness of my teacher, I was given more detailed explanations and gained more understanding as to why the whole thing seemed to make no sense at all: The very fact that it made no sense indicated that sense is to be found at another level, at a larger scale. Then, instead of undermining my determination to learn and practice, the controversy made it stronger. I realized that His Holiness was acting out of great compassion and with a pure and sincere motivation. His actions are truly remarkable! The controversy is helping many and will continue to help many more!

I run my own business, and very, very soon after having connected with the Dharma and with Dorje Shugden, my business collapsed and all my ventures got suspended or cancelled. ALL! And all within only four weeks. I had 18 employees in October 2008; by the beginning of 2009, I only had two left and we were working only four-day weeks with salary cuts.

Until then, I lived out of a suitcase, travelling 20 days a month, from the States to the Maldives, Dubai, Singapore, China… As such, I would not have been able to study the Lamrim, as I was away most of the time. So, by losing all my jobs, I suddenly had lots more free time at hand. I must say here that I never panicked in this situation. Instead, I took the opportunity at hand to study the Lamrim; I knew that it was a unique opportunity.

My business never collapsed completely and it survived. As a matter of fact, we are now busy working on projects that are spreading the Dharma, and now, even my working hours have been made meaningful!

This is a story I do not talk about openly to just anyone because in the mind of new practitioners, Dorje Shugden is supposed to “protect” us, so how could he have created conditions such that my business collapsed? If some people heard this story, they may not even want to make prayers to Dorje Shugden or do his practice.

Dorje Shugden is a Dharma Protector and his “role” is to create conducive conditions for people to practice the Dharma. In my case, the loss of business created the conditions for me to practice Dharma and as a result, my life is now meaningful, I am happier and, looking at the bigger picture, I have received tremendous help from him. I feel very fortunate.

I wish for my mind to be completely free of any confusion, and may such achievement come to be helpful to others.

At one point, I wanted to do some business as I had some spare cash from the contract work that I was doing then. At the same time, it was a difficult time for my Lama as he also had financial difficulties. We decided to do a business venture together so that proceeds could also go towards supporting my Lama’s Dharma work.

At around that time, the Protector took trance through my Lama and advised me to study the Lamrim. I complied to the request as I liked to read anyway.

Six months into the business, things started to not work out: I didn’t listen to advice, wanted to do things my way and a host of other things came about to upset things. Sleeping was getting more and more difficult.

Then, somehow, I remembered the stuff I had learnt about karma from reading the Lamrim and Shantideva’s quote also came into mind: ‘If you can do something about it, why worry? If you can’t do something about it, why worry?’ From then, I relied on the Dharma to pull me through difficult times, thanks to the Protector’s advice.

On another occasion, I was once at my Lama’s residence, trying to do some work. I remember I was suffering from a fever at the time and was literally shivering from chills and sickness. Just then, I thought of my Lama and Protector as one, chanted a few mantras and almost immediately, the fever subsided. I know my body very well – when I start to get flu-like symptoms, it doesn’t go away just like that. The symptoms always turn into a full-blown flu before I can recover!

Just recently, I was feeling really exhausted and felt like I was falling ill again. I needed to do something which my Lama had asked me to do and, not wanting to disappoint him, really did not wish to get ill at this crucial moment! So, I thought of my Lama and Protector as one again and the illness did not manifest into a flu as it normally does. I managed to complete what I needed to do!

From that time onwards, Dorje Shugden became my main Dharma Protector. I would do all my prayers daily without fail and put my trust wholeheartedly in him. Whatever assignments or retreats I was given – such as to complete 10,000 serkyem offerings and 10 million mantra recitations! – I would do and complete them happily and without any hesitation or complaint as I trusted my Lama 100%. I knew that all the prayers I needed to do were to help me clear the obstacles we were facing and that Dorje Shugden’s practice was the fastest way to remove the heavy negative karma that we were experiencing.

Looking back all these years, Dorje Shugden has helped me and my family so much. Even during those difficult times, we still had food on the table and a roof over our heads. We were able to get through those years without facing many difficulties. Our financial situation improved quickly and everything in our lives improved and continued smoothly. I can now only repay the kindness of my Protector by being sincere and honest in my Dharma practice and by putting in more effort towards my spiritual growth.

It is also through the blessings of Dorje Shugden, whom I have placed my trust and faith in, that I had the fortune to find sponsors and support to help me set up a branch of our Dharma centre in another city, to spread the doctrine of Lama Tsongkhapa and benefit the people here.

Now, through the blessings of my Dharma Protector, I am able to commit myself more towards my spiritual practices. I have more confidence in myself to pursue what I want to do and not be hindered by family commitments. Now, even my family supports my Dharma work.

I am glad that I did not give up my Dharma practice when I was faced with obstacles. Without the help from my Lama and Dorje Shugden, who have patiently helped and guided me throughout all these years, I would not be who I am today. I am glad that I have moved on compared to most of my old friends who are still stuck in their secular world.

To my Guru and my Protector, thank you for saving me and giving me the best gift – the gift of Dharma.

When I asked the Master who he was, he explained that it was the God of Prosperity and that he would help me with my business. I then asked what prayers I should recite. He replied that it was not necessary to say any specific prayers but only offer incense every morning. So I continued to do this for years until I finally learnt who this deity was in 2008: the Great King, Dorje Shugden!

Since I started to pray to my God of Prosperity, I have been doing well in the management of my family funds. I survived the Asian Financial crisis and also the Tech bubble burst in 2000. During these two crisis, many people lost huge amounts of money. I did too, but somehow, I seemed to recover quickly and always came out of the situation better.

In 2004, when I bid for a franchise of a popular restaurant, I managed to get it against much competition. I have always felt that in my businesses, “things” always seem to be smooth and when there were obstructions, I seem to overcome them quite effortlessly.

On a personal note, when I heard that my daughter-in-law was pregnant with a pair of twin girls in 1997, I was very happy to receive the news. However, unfortunately, they were born 12 weeks prematurely and survival was difficult. Somehow, once again a miracle happened and after intensive medical care and a 21-day stay at the hospital, both my twin granddaughters survived.

Miracles have been happening more often now since I set up a proper altar and statue of Dorje Shudgen in my house. The protection from Dorje Shugden has not only been for me but for my whole family.

For example, one day, at exactly the same time that I was saying my prayers towards a special thangka of Dorje Shugden, my daughter-in-law ran into a car accident, where she drove into a ditch. She came through without a scratch on her and the wondrous thing is that there was also not a scratch on her car.

At around the same time, my son was the victim of black magic. His conduct during that time was terrifying and he was most difficult to be with. Knowing how compassionate Dorje Shugden is, I prayed for him to help and my son is now fine. He is even most beautifully working for the Dharma now and has become very involved in our Dharma centre.

When I sit down and think, miracles have been happening to me all the time and I know that they will continue. I will always be grateful to that Buddhist master who first introduced me to such a powerful and giving Protector.

On hindsight, our family has been fortunate in many respects over the past 20 years. In all our business affairs – no matter how challenging things became, even when we experienced losses – things would eventually even out and other business opportunities would arise to help us cover the losses and start anew.

As for health, I am grateful that although family members have gone through some surgeries and illnesses, there has never been anything too serious or life threatening. I remember very clearly a surgical procedure my mother had which the doctors said would be slightly complicated. We did Dorje Shugden pujas before she went in for the operation and the complication expected by the doctors did not arise after all. The surgery was done easily and quickly. Even the surgeon commented that he was surprised it went so smoothly.

In my personal experience, the practice of Dorje Shugden gives me inner emotional stability and calmness. His practice gives me clarity and perseverance. When I learned more about Dorje Shugden and his practice, I realized how powerful it was when I could actually find answers to problems disturbing me whenever I recited his mantra. Initially, I was skeptical but when it happened more than three times, I had to believe in it.

There was a time when I was going through many emotional issues and often had trouble sleeping. I had many sleepless nights and this started to affect my loved ones as I became tired, irritable and very unpleasant to be with. One night, when I could not stop crying, I took hold of a small image of Dorje Shugden, held it close to my chest and recited his mantra. I started to feel relief and my tears started to stop. The deep sadness I was feeling gradually stopped choking me and I calmed down. Eventually, I fell into a deep sleep which I had not done in many weeks. The next morning, I felt lighter and relieved.

Dorje Shugden has been a light source to me, giving me balance and hope.

He told me to have faith and trust, and to recite 100,000 Protector mantras; Dorje Shugden would help me all the way and he would also pray for me. That was the biggest relief to me at the time because my ex-husband was a very violent, difficult person who often threatened me and my children. My faith was very strong in the Protector and eventually, I chose to file for divorce.

A few months later, through my Lama’s blessings, I invited Gyenze home. My Lama had said that Gyenze would help me. I never failed to pray and offer serkyem to him every day. I prayed for my divorce to go through smoothly and peacefully. I didn’t want any violence or arguments to hurt either one of us further. Within a few months, my ex-husband called and offered to sign the divorce papers. Everything went through as I had prayed for.

I had to start my life over again. I had to set up a new office for my business and move into another apartment with my children; my mother also moved in to stay with me so I could take care of her better. She was experiencing some health problems then and we were constantly going in and out of clinics. Shortly after, my teenage son also began giving me problems.

It was a very frustrating time but at the same time, I was also grateful that I was able to go through it because I have now truly learned to appreciate the good things that I have in my life. The Protector gave me a base to fall down upon so that I could pick myself up, rebuild and grow even further. I know he has watched over me throughout this time. I am ashamed that I have disappointed him many, many times with my laziness, stubbornness and pride. I still slip but I will continue to improve.

Things are much better now. Both my children are becoming more involved in the Dharma centre and are participating regularly in the activities. I am in a very loving relationship with a new partner and have set up my own home with my children. The things I have wished for are being granted one after another. Please have faith, trust and let Dorje Shugden take charge because he knows what’s best for us and will never want anything from us.

At the time, we were into the fourth month of a retreat that our Lama had advised us to do. His assistant then explained to us that we should add this Protector’s prayers into the retreat. We were given 5 sheets of prayers – prayers to invite Dorje Shugden and his retinue, and prayers for the serkyem offering.

Prior to the retreat, our financial situation was at its lowest, we were literally broke. We started a small business from home and business was not good at all. It was only when we started doing prayers and serkyem offerings to Dorje Shugden during the retreat that our business started to grow.

Also, my wife used to have frequent nightmares and bad experiences of spirits disturbing her. These unpleasant ordeals also went away when she started doing Dorje Shugden’s practice. Today, she has no more of these problems. We have also been fortunate enough to have had divinations done and Dorje Shugden has always given us clear and precise answers and solutions to situations we were facing.

The above accounts are just a few of many examples of how Dorje Shugden has helped and is still helping my family and I since we were so fortunate to have come under his divine care and protection.

I would trust Dorje Shugden and my Lama with my life. It was by their guidance and kindness that I was given a new lease of life and assisted in many difficult situations.

Yes, I was guilty of that and more! I will be the first to admit I was a social butterfly, a bee even, busy collecting nectar and invariably collecting pollen too. With my limited knowledge of the Dharma now, I equate nectar to good merits and pollen to be negative karma. And boy did I accumulate more pollen then nectar without truly realising this!

The reason I am sharing this is to put into perspective what has transpired over the last 8 months for me. I ‘tripped’ over Buddhism some time back but it hardly left a ‘bruise’. This time, I stumbled upon it in a big way and I must say it has left quite a scar. I’m not equating what I am learning as a negative imprint but a positive one. What I mean is that this ‘scar’ now permanently reminds me of an important turning point in my life.

Looking back now, I think it all started exactly eight years, six months and 13 days from today, as I write this. It was when I met the love of my life, a love at first sight! It is this same person that led me to the Dharma and I believe this is not the first time he is doing this! Perhaps I was fortunate enough to accumulate enough merits to be given another chance? If so, I best not blow this one!

It is through this Dharma path I am now on that I have ‘chanced’ upon Protector practice. I am still very much a fly on the wall in the grand scheme of things. However, I am absorbing and learning a lot being this fortunate insect with a poor excuse for a brain. Even if I do not have a first hand experience to share, I can see the impact it has on the life of my partner and the people around us.

Our business went through a 180 degree turn for the worse at the height of the financial crisis back in October/November 2008 and we were both extremely close to throwing in the towel. But I know now, through the Dharma and inevitably because of Protector practice, we are still afloat and we do see some land ahead. In fact, in hindsight, where we are in our business is so much healthier for us now. Living out of a suitcase and jet setting around the world for work was not a life. How we delude ourselves into thinking we are happy!

We are both much calmer individuals now. We have both grown in our relationship. We are both enriching our lives in ways we never thought we would even have the chance to. Overall, I know we are being ‘looked’ after and that I am blessed to be able to have the opportunity to practice in this lifetime and wish I may continue to do so in lifetimes to come.

I don’t like beating around the bush therefore I am directly informing you the purpose of this letter is to praise The King, Dorje Shugden whom is the greatest Dharma Protector of them all.

For many years now, my family and I have been suffering because of the bad decisions I made in my business dealings. Most of the time when everything has been planned out properly, something negative will appear to impair my dealings. We have been in financial distraught for many years now because of this. Nothing that I do turns out successful although I had put in great effort.

I got to know about Dorje Shugden from a family friend whom is very successful corporate figure. One day while having some drinks over at his place, I desperately requested for help as I was almost bankrupt. By then I already have three children, two of them are a pair of twins. There was just so much expenses piling up but my business was going downhill at lighting speed.

After telling my Johnson of my situation, he brought me to a small room and introduced me to a statue he referred to as the greatest Dharma Protector who can help resolved all my problems. As I was not very spiritual, I was not interested at all with what he was trying to explain to me. All I wanted was money to help solve my current problem!

After some time of explaining, he eventually loaned me some money but with the condition that I do a short prayer of Dorje Shugden every day. Obviously I agreed as long as he gave me the money I asked for. For the next few months, my wife and I did the prayer as we had faith Johnson will not deceive us. We were right in trusting our good friend who has now become my closest buddy and business partner.

The prayer worked wonders as time went by. My business started to pick up once again and slowly I had enough cash to repay Johnson and everyone else I owed money to. From then on, I invited a similiar statue of Dorje Shugden which Johnson has.

Today, my entire family practices Dorje Shugden and we have been promoting it to all our friends and family. My business has become stable now but most importantly, my family and I are much closer and happier. We no longer suffer in hunger every night.

For this, I sincerely wish that my life experience with Dorje Shugden will bring benefit to you and everyone else as well. For I have been benefited tremendously, the time has come for me to spread this marvelous practice.
