In 2003, he was appointed as the 101 Gaden Tripa and official spiritual leader of all Gelug sects for a period of seven years.

This highly placed Lama surprised the Tibetan Buddhist world when, upon the termination of his seven-year office, recently, he announced that he was joining Shar Gaden! And his whole Ladrang followed him!

Shar Gaden was the monastery, which was set up to preserve the practice of Dorje Shugden, for the benefit of all sentient beings. It was set up by monks, who were steadfast in displaying loyalty to their lineage Lamas and practices, Dorje Shugden being one of them. It was established as a monastery against a backdrop of the Dalai Lama’s ban on Dorje Shugden practice, and all the subsequent severe ostracizing and ‘bashing’ of Dorje Shugden and Shugden practitioners.

So Gaden Trisur Rinpoche Jetsun Lungrik Namgyal Rinpoche is a fine example for others to follow and is cause for great rejoicing for the benefit of all. May Je Tsongkhapa’s teachings continue to spread and benefit all through the flourishing of Shar Gaden Monastery!.
