2 SUMAA Leaders were Arrested in India
« on: July 26, 2018, 10:36:09 PM »
Two anti-Tibetan protesters leaders were arrested in India under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act is an Indian law aimed at effective prevention of unlawful activities associations in India.

I wonder if the CTA was involved in this arrest since they will get the greatest benefit if SUMAA cancels their upcoming protests against Tibetans due to this arrest.

2 SUMAA leaders arrested under AP Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act

ITANAGAR, Jul 24: The Itanagar Police on Tuesday arrested the general secretary of Students’ Union Movement of All Arunachal (SUMAA) Suraj Ligu and convenor Tarh Rikham under the provisions of the Arunachal Pradesh Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 2014.

The arrest of the student leaders came in the wake of recent SUMAA movement against the Tibetan refugee issue at Bomdila in West Kameng district.

SUMAA is currently spearheading a movement against the Tibetan refugees in West Kameng district for allegedly having permanent structures outside their designated settlement areas, besides possessing fake trading licenses, permanent residential certificates and scheduled tribes certificates apart from refugee cards.

The students’ body has been demanding for immediate rollback of Tibetan Rehabilitation Policy (TRP) 2014 which provides for 20% job quota, trading licence and land lease rights for Tibetan refugees, besides seeking a written agreement from the Central Tibetan Administration not to claim Indian citizenship, PRC and ST certificates in Arunachal Pradesh, and a Tibetan refugees’ population dossier.

When contacted by EoA, SP Capital M Harsha Vardhan confirmed the arrest of two leaders and informed that they are arrested under Arunachal Pradesh Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 2014 as per an order from West Kameng district Deputy Commissioner.

The West Kameng District Magistrate has already promulgated a prohibitory order under section 144 of Criminal Procedure Act (CrPC) in the entire district, apprehending likely breach of peace and tranquility in view of SUMAA’s second phase agitation at Bomdila which was scheduled on July 24. The 15-day ultimatum served to the District Administration by SUMAA to verify the backgrounds 14 Tibetans also expired today.

The Capital SP also informed that an extortion case is also registered against SUMAA members at Naharlagun police station. Both the arrested persons are now in Jully jail, said the SP.

The SUMAA activists were seen protesting at Itanagar PS premises this afternoon demanding immediate release of their leaders or else put them all in the lockup. The security at the police station was later tightened with deployment of CRPF personnel.

Later, hundreds of agitated SUMAA activists ‘gheroed’ the Jully jail and reportedly indulged in pelting stones and burning tyres.

OC of Itanagar PS, Inspector T Bage said that the mob in hundreds tried to ransack Jully jail, but was dispersed after CRPF and IRBn personnel’s intervention.

The OC said that the two arrested leaders were produced before the DM, Bomdila through video conferencing and a case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Arunachal Pradesh Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, 2014.

This is horrible! How can they do that? How can they arrest Indians for protesting against the corrupt, unfair, biasness given to the Tibetans. This sound absurd because why should Indian tolerate this unfairness. It seems that Tibetans does not have to do anything or follow Indian laws, they can do anything and they are given so many benefits, benefits apparently Indians do not even receive or is hard to come by. Of course, the SUMMA students who are well educated, well aware and well informed are going to be upset and going to protest. They have every right to do so.

The two leaders arrest is definitely being encourages/instructed by someone who was influenced by the CTA. This is my feeling and you know what this is gonna spark more problems for the Tibetans and the CTA. Rest assured, this will call for more Indians to retaliate and hate the Tibetans. Very silly to arrest them. We need to keep watch this news!

I do think that this is a good news story.

The press is now reporting again the problems that these Tibetans are doing to the people of India.

There are now public protests against the arrests and anger against the Tibetans and their illegal actions.

This gives the Tibetans and the CTA a big "Black Eye" because of the renewed anger against them.

What the CTA may considered to be a great victory is actually a great defeat.

Just put yourself in Indian's shoes. Imagine, you have a big house with a lot of people staying in it. One day, a group of people just appear in front of the door and ask to stay in your house temporarily. This temporarily becomes 60 years.

During these 60 years, you are very kind to give them their own rooms, you allow them to have their own space. At the same time, you pay for their expenses and sometimes you give them money. But for the people who have lived in the house before, they have to go out to work and give you money to pay for the expenses. Do you think it is fair?

This is what is happening now in India. The Tibetans are given so much by the Indian government but the local Indians are neglected. The Tibetans have not given back anything to India for the 60 years of kindness. This is why many Indians are very upset and angry at the Tibetans.

It is unjust for the 2 activists to be arrested by the law. They are just protesting against the inappropriate actions of some of the Tibetans by breaking the law. Tibetans as refugees should be more careful and alert. They should not give any problems to India because they are the guest in this country,

Only the Tibetans are able to pull it off because of the generosity of India. India has been and is still very kind to them and that is why they are able to take advantage of them. They do not contribute to anything that India does. They are exempted from tax but still get so much of aids and resources from the government.

Soon India will be fed up the Tibetans taking advantage of them. The Indians are already unhappy with them being in their country because they are creating problems for India to have a good relationship with China. Indians will certainly not let Tibetans jeopardise their future with China and they might even consider to kick them out of the country to protect the future of its 1.3 billion citizens.

Very good analogy. But you forgot to add- their lease runs out in about 39 years and yet these guests are planning for 50 years. So what does this tell you? Blood sucker Lobsang Sangay sure is sneaky. Even the Indians got tricked and didn't even question the 50 years. I really don't blame the SUMAA leaders as they are protesting the negative elements of their country. It is their rights in caring. The Tibetan in exile had never ever benefited their host and never to support. It is high time having hosted these ungrateful guests for 60 years.

I agree that this is a good way to look at the Tibetan-Indian situation. This is exactly what it is. The Tibetans are overextending their period in India and somehow the Indians are paying the price of it. The Tibetans are supposed to fight for their country and return to Tibet as soon as possible. However, 60 years had passed but there is no progress on their mission.

Now that the president of CTA, Mr Lobsang Sangay had announced that they are expecting another 50 years to accomplish their goal which is independence for Tibet. The whole situation became even more ridiculous now. The Indians are too kind to the Tibetans and that is why Tibetans keep taking advantage of India. Many Indians has been expressing their frustration towards the Tibetans on social media platforms.

India government had given the Tibetans so much privilege but they are not grateful as usual. India had made the process of Tibetans to become an Indian citizen easier but instead of trying to get their people to do that, they purposely made the process on their side harder for fellow Tibetans. Clearly, they do not view India as a good place to be in the future despite all the kindness that they get from India. If that is the case, why are they still in India? They should have left and stop taking India for granted.

The CTA is making themselves more hated to the extent that their own people are protesting against them. While the CTA continues to corrupt and use the remaining resources to pretend they are doing great. At the rate they are going, they may be made out of business by their own people.

CTA’s attempt to erect a gate at its entrance shelved due to protest from locals
[Monday, November 19, 2018 19:34]
By Tenzin Sangmo

DHARAMSHALA, Nov. 19: As CTA wraps up its two yearlong construction and beautification of Gangchen Kyishong compound, it came across objection from the local residents in the premise against the planned construction of a light iron gate at the entrance.

At the beginning of this month, the local residents of Khuled village, better known as Ward no. 3-4, near Library, upper Gamru, filed a complaint to the MCD stating how the construction of a gate would affect the lives of its 5000 residents and about half a dozen taxi drivers.

Following the construction of the foundational base for the gate, Gankyi saw a visit of members of MCD as a result of the written complaint, spearheaded by a 40-year-old local resident Desh Raj.

The incident was published in Hindi publications the next days that also included instances of locals questioning the construction of five-story T-building built on Khasra no. 134.

On Monday, Tsewang Gyalpo Arya, Additional Secretary of Department of Home, CTA, submitted an application to the DMC Commissioner acknowledging the protest and requesting the authority for assistance in the construction of gate to help control traffic and sanitation situation. The application stressed that CTA is willing to help construct a parking spot near the almost complete road connecting the village to Jogiwara road near the residential building of CTA’s members-of-parliament. The application to the MCD commissioner included photos of the traffic situation.

The following Monday, on November 12, the CTA officials met with the mayor who said there is no need to build a gate and if there ever arises a compelling reason to do so, the mayor office will build it.

CTA’s attempt to meet the representative for locals for a friendly discussion at 10:30 am on November 14 failed after the local representative didn’t show up. Desh Raj, the representative later claimed to be ignorant about it.

Raj, producing the plot map of the area acquired from MCD, showed that the road leading to Kashag is under Khasra no. 30 and a common land under the name of MCD.

Raman Kumar, a 24-year-old taxi driver staying in the village said the road from Gankyi entrance has always been their main road and the creation of back road will not serve as an alternative. “Our marriage procession takes place on this road; when someone gets sick, we take this road as it’s the shortest way out. We cannot take a detour in emergencies. Nobody can block this road.”

CTA official reiterated on many occasions that the main purpose of the gate is not to block routes but to control the traffic situation as it gets difficult when high profile Indian and International officials visit the exile administration. The Buddhist leaders meeting commencing at the end of this month taking place at T-building is also why the CTA wants to sort it out sooner than later. His Holiness is scheduled to bless the new constructions at the end of this month.

The locals continue to remain resentful of lack of proper parking spot and expect a parking space to be made possible.

Last Friday, the Mayor Sh. Devender Jaggi, Deputy Mayor Sh. Onkar Nehria, Additional Commissioner Sh. Prabhat Chaudhary, Ward no. 4 Councilor Smt. Neenu Sharma and Executive Engineer Sh. S.K Dadhwal along with other local officials visited the CTA compound. Dharamshala settlement officer, Mr Dawa Rinchen showed them the dead end off the road and the traffic situation. However, the group was disrupted by belligerent local protestors demanding official support.

Tomorrow the CTA officials have a meeting scheduled with Mayor at 10:30 am where they intend to produce the paper necessary to address the allegation. “CTA will never do anything illegal and without permission,” Arya stated.

The CTA and the Tibetans are really taking things for granted. Have they forgotten they are only a guest in India? Have they forgotten this is not their own country and they cannot do just what they want?

The locals have already expressed their dissatisfaction of the CTA putting up the gate but the CTA still want to justify their action and make it as though it is their right to do that. They have no consideration for others, which is very typical of the CTA. They are already hated by the locals, why do they want to make things worse?

If the CTA is not going to do anything to pacify the sentiments of the Indians, they will get themselves kicked out of India sooner or later. India is a democratic country if there are enough people wanting the Tibetans to be out, the Indian government will have to do that. The CTA should always remind themselves that they are only a guest in India, please make sure they don't bring trouble to the host and be obedient.

India arresting her own citizens and putting foreign interests above others. Even as a Tibetan I find this shameful.

I dont understand how Tibetans can keep on creating the problem when they are in a refugee state. Refugees everywhere behave very politely and courteous to try not to offend the government of the country that they are in. Because of 1 wrong move, it can mean homeless all 100,000 Tibetans in Exile.

They have created so much of problems for India especially by risking their relationship China. There are a few times, CTA purposely created a few problems to ruin their relationship with China. They should really think about how much kindness India has given them over the years.

Free land to stay. Resources to build their community. Exempted from tax and even travelling documents. This is how generous India treated them. How can they repay India with more troubles and potentially cost them their future if their relationship with China went south? Tibetans should think that if India goes down, they will not be in a good position either.
