Shocking – Dalai Lama statue thrown into river in Tibet

Has anyone read and seen this news/video yet? It is dorjeshugden.com's latest posting. I am just really very shocked by it! This is something you really did not expect happening to the Dalai Lama. Especially coming from the same province where he was born, basically his own province. So what does this all mean? Tibetans are certainly losing faith in the Dalai Lama to a point they dare throw a statue/effigy of him into the river. This is definitely unheard of.

Check out some of the comments in the post. One Tibetans person from NYC stated that " I think we will see more of it now and after the Dalai Lama passes, even more will dare to speak out against the Dalai Lama. The Tibetans are interesting in that once, one person sets an example of something not done before, others will soon follow suit."

I am in agreement with this though it may not be nice to see, but more people will speak up and start retaliating or showing their dissatisfaction. Watching the video is pretty shocking because this is not something you would ever expect Tibetans to do with His Holiness's image. But like what the article said, perhaps it is karma coming back to the injustice ban imposed and the persecution of Dorje Shugden practitioners. What they did to Dorje Shugden statue, destroying it, now the karma comes back where people are destroying the Dalai Lama's statue/image.

I cannot help to feel sad about all this. And a little part of me says that the Dalai Lama knew this would come and had probably foreseen this. Question is, was it deliberate and for what reasons? What is your take in all of this?

It is more than obvious that the Tibetans are very unhappy with the Dalai Lama. They do not trust or believe in him anymore as his policies keep changing. They simply cannot believe what he says. The Dalai Lama was once adored and even worshipped; he was the hope for all Tibetans. But now, both Tibetans inside and outside Tibet have lost their faith in him, and even wonder if he will ever return to Tibet as he promised. The 14th Dalai Lama like any dictator fears the first public revolt against their power.

The people of Amdo Tibet have fired the first symbolic shot at their cruel dictator.

To publicly destroy a statue of your dictator is usually punished by DEATH.

Notice their public revolt was not against the Chinese but against the 14th.

The 14th Dalai Lama has given the people of Tibet absolutely nothing.

The Chinese have given them schools, hospitals, roads, bridges and the world highest railway line.

The monasteries and nunneries in Tibet are full of Tibetan born monks and nuns practicing religious freedoms that do not exist under the 14th's rule.

This so called "Buddha of Compassion".

The world governments are now starting to turning their backs on the 14th.

The Indian Government is now turning their backs on the 14th.

Now the people of Tibet as starting to turn their backs on the 14th.

Even the 17th Karmapa has PUBLICLY CRITICIZED the 5th Dalai Lama and his murderous actions against the Karma Kagyu hundreds of years ago.

Now the Indian government has rewarded his actions by allowing the 17th to visit Sikkim in late April or early March 2018.

Don't be too surprised if they allow the 17th Karmapa to permanently iive in a Karma Kagyu monastery in Sikkim.

This will break the power lock the 14th has on the 17th Karmapa.

He will now longer have to rent a room at Gyuto Monastery with the 14th as his landlord.

It was actually the 17th Karmapa who fired the first symbolic shot at the Dalai Lama and not the people of Amdo, Tibet.

Finally we now see that even the 17th Karmapa stated that the Dalai Lama's lineage has engaged in the destruction of Monasteries and the Lineages.

He puts the blame squarely at the feet of the 5th Dalai Lama.

So now we see the courage of the 17th Karmapa to publicly condemn the Dalai Lama's murderous lineage.

The Dalai Lama lineage from the 5th, 13th and now the 14th of murder, destruction and its "Black Karma" has now begun to ripening.

Time for this dictator to take his place with the other overthrown dictators.

Tibetans are sick and tired of the Tibetan in-exile leadership and are showing their frustration by throwing the 14th Dalai Lama’s statue into the river. What’s more shocking was that this incident happened in Amdo, the birth province of the Dalai Lama where he is highly revered.

The failure of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) in advancing the Tibetan cause for 60 years, combined with more recent setbacks like being snubbed by their host India, means that patience in Tibet is wearing thin. As more world leaders distance themselves from the Dalai Lama and the CTA, the chance for Tibetan autonomy or even the return of Tibetans in-exile to Tibet is bleak. The Dalai Lama is still branded a separatist with no sign of dialogue with China in sight.

For all the negative actions done to Dorje Shugden practitioners for decades, including denying their basic rights to health care, food, education etc., and encouraging ostracism and discrimination against them, the karma now returns to the CTA in manifold ways. The Tibetans now denounce their ‘God-King’, signalling that the CTA’s final end is not too far away.

Considering the almost God-like reverence almost all Tibetans have for the Dalai Lama in the past, such drastic turn of event is very telling of the level of their frustration and disappointment. Although any disrespect towards any Sangha is not right but more so for the Dalai Lama considering that Tibetans’ deep-rooted respect and reverence for the Dalai Lama. One can only imagine the seriousness of such frustration and disappointment that compelled the Tibetans to resort to such extreme show of anger and displeasure. It is really sad that more and more Tibetans and even non-Tibetans are losing respect for the Dalai Lama largely due to the failures and unscrupulous actions of the Tibetan leadership. The same applies to the Gelugpa hat, which symbolizes Manjushri's wisdom. While the revolt of the populace against the evil criminal is understandable, the symbols of the Three Jewels of Refuge should be scrupulously respected. Otherwise, what is most important is that the evil dalie is placed where he belongs, the garbage bin of history.

It is indeed shocking that the Dalai Lama is not the God King of the Tibetans anymore and his statue is thrown in the water. This is very telling of how much they are disappointed.

But on top, the robes of a monk and the Gelugpa hat has been thrown as well which is very bad. I hope the Tibetans will stop to show such disrespect towards the Three Jewels.

The Tibetans are not educated and many remain ignorant. They are Buddhist by label, not by practise. They do not understand what you do and their faith is blind. Just like any nation that is backward and poor, the lack of exposure and knowledge make them behave barbarically, do things that will not be done by civilized people who have the slightest amount of respect for themselves and others. Throwing a statue of an ordinary leader is already a very bad sign, worst when the statue is believed to be the emanation of Avalokiteshvara (Buddha of Compassion, Chenresig) in full attire of a high reincarnated lama.

While the Chinese have been working very hard to improve the infrastructure and economy of Tibet, they have to look into improving the Tibetans educational level so they can really benefit in the long run. Development on the outside is important but the improvement on the inside is crucial.

That would be the more dharmic way and would be more unbiased

With this kind of sentiment in Tibet, it may not be a good idea for the Dalai Lama to return. He has long gone and people in Tibetan are starting to forget about it. Their new leader is China and the development they have brought to Tibet. Perhaps the small amount of the older generation is still looking up to the Dalai Lama but he has not been able to do anything for them for 60 years! Tibet is no longer the same, it has grown out of feudalism for so long and people are moving forward towards modernization of the country. The Dalai Lama's role and influence are getting weaker and the incident like this is not surprising at all. However, it again has proven how backward the Tibetans are and the things they would do out of ignorance. They have no respect for anyone and is extremely barbaric in their approach to things in their daily lives.

I do agree that the person who had thrown the statue of the Dalai Lama into the river must have been driven to such desperation that against his Buddhist instinct, he could do such a negative action. What more, this took place in Amdo, the Dalai Lama's birth place, where he is held in high reverence. At the same time, I am wondering if its the Chinese's modernisation of Tibet and the many benefits the Tibetans are enjoying could had caused this action. I mean, China is giving the people more in terms of higher standard of living and economic opportunities. What will the Dalai Lama bring with him if he returns to Tibet? Any interaction with the Dalai Lama will have the Chinese government watching very closely and after 60 years away, the Dalai Lama will be returning to basically new generations which means the gap in loyalty. Religious wise, they do have the Panchen Lama who is much younger and endorsed by the Chinese government.

After such a long time in exile, the Dalai Lama is not so close to the Tibetans anymore. The new generation has grown up under the Chinese Government and was deprived of their God King for so long.

And the young Panchen Lama is well loved and highly respected, therefore there is a big gap between the Tibetans in Tibet nowadays and the Dalai Lama. But most of all the long time without any results in terms to get Tibet back, yet promised by Nechung, has disappointed many and I believe that this is a very strong signal of disappointed hopes with the statue of HH being thrown in the river.

I think it is not only the Tibetans in China getting frustrated with the Dalai Lama, quite a number of Tibetans outside of China must feel the same too except they dare not do what the Tibetans in China is doing. The Dalai Lama always changes his own words. For example, in the beginning he said the Panchen Lama in China is fake, then recently he turned around and say the Panchen Lama in China might be real! And all the shocking comments he made on India's politics, his next reincarnation has to be a sexy woman, the refugees in Europe, have made people lose their respect for him. When the CTA is not in power anymore, we might see more monasteries and Tibetans removing the Dalai Lama's picture from their altars.

As such with disgust, threw the statue of the Dalai Lama into the river as an act of defiance. Sad huh! Waiting 60 years and the person you respect the most, with so much hope suddenly just turn arounds and says nope Tibet belongs to China. What will the Dalai Lama declare next that will create more waves? Please let it be "Dorje Shugden is enlightened and we should all practice".

I agree with SabS on this. His Holiness the Dalai Lama has been worshipped as the god-king of Tibet for so long and incident like this is huge because no one dares disrespect His Holiness the Dalai Lama like this ever. Furthermore, this occurred in the region where Dalai Lama came from. From this incident, we can understand the frustration and anger the people have for His Holiness.

The most possible answer will be what SabS had said. Tibetans have been fighting for Rangzen for 60 years together with thousands and thousands of support groups around the world. Everyone is donating and putting in their effort to get back Tibet from China. However, His Holiness decided to change to Umaylam and mentioned about going back to Tibet under China.

60 years of effort is wasted and down the drain when His Holiness changes his direction and attitude towards getting back Tibet. If I am one of the supporters, I will be extremely upset too because all my hard work is wasted no results are produced. I can imagine the supporters feel cheated and betrayed. Hence, someone who is extremely upset might have contributed to the event.
