Himachal minister skips Dharamsala Tibetan function

I bet the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) did not expect the Himachal minister Kishan Kapoor to not attend the official function to commemorate the 59th anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising Day that was moved from Delhi to Dharamsala. First, it was the national ministers who were told not to attend the 'Thank You India', now you have the state minister skipping the Tibetan event. The message is clear, India is no longer supporting the Tibetans. Get ready for an early end of the lease and pack up!

DHARAMSALA: In a major shock to the Tibetan administration in Dharamsala, state minister Kishan Kapoor, who was invited as the chief guest at the official function to commemorate the 59th anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising Day, skipped the event.

The minister and Tibetan minister evaded the queries in this regard.

The event was organized at Tsuglagkhang (the main temple of the Dalai Lama at Mcleodganj) on Saturday.
It remained a low-key affair owning to the controversy due to which the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) had to cancel its 'Thank You India' event scheduled at Delhi on March 31 and April 1.

The event was cancelled after the an advisory was issued from the ministry of foreign affairs asking the dignitaries to stay away from the programme

Following the advisory, the CTA was forced to shift the event from Delhi to Dharamsala.

It was presumed that the had its bearing on the Tibetan National Uprising day function.

CTA had announced that the Kapoor, minister for food and civil supplies and an MLA from Dharamsala seat, would be the chief guest at the function. However, Kishan Kapoor failed to turn up. Only BJP MP George Baker was present at the event.

Well, looks quite dark in India for the Central Tibetan Administration.

The karma of many years of only caring for themselves has caught up and India has turned towards China. Yet, the CTA has not worked to improve the conditions even for their own people. Therefore the Tibetans turn towards India to become an Indian citizen or they go back to Tibet in China. Have you read this article? Give up the Tibetan cause, get an Indian passport http://www.dorjeshugden.com/all-articles/news/give-up-the-tibetan-cause-get-an-indian-passport/

It is without a doubt much more fruitful for the Indian Government to be friend with China as the Tibetans have little to offer. China on the other hand can be a powerful ally and help India to improve. Another humiliation for the so-called President Sangay. His Central Tibetan Administration is doomed. There are fewer actually almost none of the world leaders willing to be seen with the Dalai Lama. With the US President who is not interested with their cause, the Tibetans really have no where to go.

Isn't it nicer to just make peace with China? Nobody can change history

Wow another slap in the face for the CTA. So many ministers are one by one not attending any of their functions and instead choosing to mend their tense relationship with China. I guess this is the new wave where things will really change in the world and whereby two of Asia's giants - CHina and India will rise to be the next big superpower in this world.

So where will our little CTA be in this huge wave especially since they have been sucking up to the West and condemning China. Well now... all the West is sucking up to China... so how now CTA? What you going to do now? Your days are numbered and if you don't realign yourself be smart about who you should be courting... then better start packing up!

What is clear is that India is definitely distancing itself from Tibet. After all, there is no economic benefit but instead, India has much to lose with supporting CTA. In addition, just because India has done so much for CTA even at times to India’s detriment in the past, it is not a given that India would continue to do so.  After all, India owes its responsibilities to its people and not Tibetans. Unlike CTA who has no qualms about throwing its people under the bus to serve their own interests, the Indian government naturally takes its duties to its people seriously and will ultimately prioritise its’ people welfare, which at this juncture doesn’t encompass continued unfettered support to CTA.

Although the Himachal minister were skipping the previous function, but it is confirm that for tomorrow's opening of Thank You India event, the Cultural Minister and the BJP secretary will attend the event. I do think it is because the Dalai Lama's name still command some respect among the Indians. I am happy for them, but at the same time, it is sad, is there any other figure within the Tibetan refugees in exile that can command such respect?

The answer would be NO. This is why CTA to doomed. The moment His Holiness passes away, CTA is just going to close shop. Just watch. Who on earth will give them/Sangay the time? What do they have that anyone wants? If you say Buddhism, well there are plenty of great high lamas who is doing great, spreading Buddhism without them. CTA had better lay low during these few months and not jeopardise India & China's meeting.

Lobsang Sangay is leaving to Delhi to attend the Cultural Festival of Tibet event, a part of the year-long Thank You India campaign organised by the Central Tibetan Administration. The article mentioned that the former Chief Minister of New Delhi, Smt Sheila Dixit will preside over the opening ceremony as the chief guest. It remains to be seen whether any of the Indian government officials who are still in power will attend this event.
