It is amazing that Lobsang Sangay still serves as the President of the CTA after years of disappointment and no results. However, Tibetans in exile are slowly moving further away from CTA as they see that there is no change and improvement in their life after 60 years of being a refugee.

Many Tibetans had moved out of India and many of them found success in the country that they are in. This shows that Tibetans can make it and they are just lacking the opportunity to be successful which CTA can't and won't give.

The CTA wants to keep all the Tibetans in India so that they can use the Tibetans to get donations from the whole world. They manipulated the Tibetans and the sponsors into believing how pity they are and they do not have anywhere else that they can go. That is their main intention.

This is what Tibetans have to suffer from, under the ruling of the backward and corrupted government. Free Tibet movement is the longest movement ever in the world, it has been 60 years now but there is no result. The CTA does not want to take the responsibility so they created the Dorje Shugden ban to put the blame of a Buddhist deity for their failure.

In fact, I think CTA is sabotaging their own movement. Without the Free Tibet movement, CTA can no longer get donations from the west and they will not have money to survive. In order to ensure they continue to get the free money, they have to make sure Free Tibet movement continues. That is why, they are not keen to make the Free Tibet movement a success.

Lobsang Sangay has no shame at all to continue to ask India for help. He thinks Tibetans are entitled for the help given by India and they always take India for granted. The "Thank you India" event was just a show without sincerity. As a result, the Indian government didn't even bother to send representative to attend or make it a big event.

It is really amazing that the Central Tibetan Administration is still hoping to get Free Tibet. It is only logical to make friends with China as there is no way that they could ever win and get Tibet back.

For so long the Tibetan Administration has made no move to get their country back in a way that could bear results. If you want something from China, you have to speak with the Chinese authorities.

It makes no sense at all to travel the world, spend countless money donated to the Tibetans and speak to those who can't do anything about the matter.

Should we help Lobsang Sangay and give him the contacts he needs?

Lobsang Sangay definitely knows who he can contact in the Chinese government to have a dialogue or negotiate with them so the Tibetans can go back to Tibet. He should know by now, it is not possible to have an independent Tibet. The best the Tibetans can get is the autonomous status.

If Lobsang Sangay really wants to serve the Tibetans, he will work hard to bring the Tibetans back to Tibet. But instead of finding ways to negotiate and improve the relationship with China, Lobsang Sangay continues to condemn China for suppressing Tibetans in Tibet. What is exactly in his mind?

In addition, Lobsang Sangay does not trust and respect the Dalai Lama. It is Dalai Lama's wish that Tibet is to be part of China but given the autonomous status. Obviously, Lobsang Sangay wants an independent Tibet, why is he going against the Dalai Lama? The Dalai Lama is said to be the emanation of Chenrezig, he must have the clairvoyance to know an independent Tibet is impossible. Why doesn't Lobsang Sangay believe the Dalai Lama? Dorje Shugden followers are not against the Dalai Lama but Lobsang Sangay is.

Well, from the news in Phayul below... Lobsang Sangay sure is a huge con artist... he's managed to swindle 1.5 million and claims it is never a loan and does not need to be paid back! But every con artist, there is always another bigger con artist and Sangay has found his match with Penpa determined to get to the bottom of this 1.5 million drama. Sleepless nights for Sangay... wonder how rich is CTA to pay this one off and shut Penpa's mouth? Karma comes back for all the bad they did to Shugden practitioners!

LEH, August 3: The fifth hearing in Case No. 20 held on Friday at the Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission (TSJC) tackled the issue of whether the USD1.5 million dollars procured by the Tibetan Community Development Fund (TCDF) from the Tibet Fund was a loan or a grant.

The arguments revolved around the sixth of the eight issues framed, the 8th point in the 10-point clarification issued by the Kashag, which the plaintiff Penpa Tsering denied as a baseless allegation.

The plaintiff attended the hearing with his lawyer while the defendant was represented by his lawyer, Home Kalon Sonam Topgyal and Kashag’s Under-Secretary Tenzin Phuntsok.

The plaintiff had said that the amount is listed as loan in the Tibet Fund account book but doesn’t reflect in the TCDF account, which owns the Office of Tibet building. He said the issue was brought to the CTA auditor’s notice in order to ensure that there is no legal and accounting hassle in the future because of the discrepancy in the documentation in the respective offices.

He also refuted the defendant lawyer’s claim that Sikyong explained the issue to the representative individually at the 2016 Representatives meeting in Brussels.

The defendant team maintains that the 8th point in the 10-point clarification is true and explained, “The Tibet Fund, from the beginning, didn’t expect the USD 1.5 million dollars to be returned or have the slightest perception of it being a loan which is why it remains unspecified in the TCDF account book as we foresee no legal predicament arising out of it.”

The defendant who needs to prove that the auditor was influenced by the representative to reflect the amount as loan in CTA audit called the concerned CTA auditor Tenzin Shedhen to testify in the court of what transpired during his visit to the Office of Tibet, Washington in April 2017.

Shedhen testified that the document reflecting the amount as a loan was obtained from the Tibet Fund.

The defence lawyer, also required by the court to prove how the amount was a grant, said it had to be listed as loan in the Tibet Fund’s book out of necessity as it is not convenient to list USD 1.5 million dollars as a grant suddenly.

“In fact, in March 2018, $7,50,000 was written off from the Tibet Fund’s book and the remaining is to be written off by January 2021, and recording it as loan in CTA’s account could pose more risk,” he added.

The plaintiff said the amount was listed as a loan for a duration of 30 years at the time and all the subsequent Tibet Fund’s letters use the words, “shall,” “will,” “hopes to,” and so far had not stated that any amount has been written off.

Speaking to the media afterwards, Lobsang Dakpa, the defence lawyer reiterated the amount was used to purchase the building of the office of Tibet, Washington, and there is no hint of a case of corruption.

Plaintiff, on the other hand, said, it is strange how the CTA chief auditor feels it is okay not to list the amount as loan in the CTA book, that the court also deems peculiar given that the total amount is not written off yet.

The TSJC today announced that the next hearing will take place on August 7, 2019.

Lobsang Sangay is really good at lying to the Tibetans. Just look at his  5/50 vision which is totally a lie. He just wants to buy himself more time to enjoy himself while throwing all his problem to the next successor. He will be retiring after 50 years and naturally, the burden of Tibetan cause will be in the hands of the next president.

He is the worst president anyone can get for their country. He did not do anything at all for 60 years and all he did was created more problems for the Tibetan community. Under his leadership, the Tibetans in exile lost the hope to go back to Tibet.

Tibetans should just ditch this president of theirs and move on with their lives. They have to accept the fact that they will never get an independent Tibet back anytime soon. It is best for them to go to Tibet under China or migrate to the west.

Just too bad he isn't smart enough to think BIGGER, otherwise, CTA could be getting subsidies from China. Now China is going to reward 300,000 yuan (U.S. $42,582) for anyone who would give them information that would lead to the arrests of social-media users deemed disloyal to China. More Tibetans are gonna get it for spreading bad PR on CHina and communicating with the CTA.

China Raises Reward for Informants in Tibet

Chinese authorities in Tibet are offering large cash rewards to informants in a bid to stamp out online activities considered threatening to Beijing’s control over the restive Himalayan region, with amounts paid out now tripled over amounts offered last year, sources say.

Rewards of 300,000 yuan (U.S. $42,582) are now being promised for information leading to the arrests of social-media users deemed disloyal to China, according to a notice issued on Feb. 28 by three government departments of China’s Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR).

Behaviors specified as illegal include online activities aimed at “attempting to overthrow [China’s] socialist system,” “advocating extremism,” “destabilizing national security,” and “defaming the People’s Republic of China,” according to the document, a copy of which was obtained by RFA’s Tibetan Service.

Also banned are online expressions of support for exiled spiritual leader the Dalai Lama’s “Middle Way Policy,” which calls for greater autonomy for Tibet while acknowledging Beijing’s sovereignty over Tibetan areas now part of China.

Attempts to send information on conditions in Tibet to foreign contacts will also be severely punished, the document says.

Authorities in Tibetan areas of China frequently monitor online discussions and search cellphones for what they consider politically sensitive content, and foreign news broadcasts are heavily restricted.

'No space left for anyone'

“Under these new regulations, the Chinese government is basically curbing the free flow of online information from within Tibet,” Tsering Tsomo, director of the Dharamsala, India-based Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD), told RFA in an interview.

“And though [the authorities] have linked these regulations to the protection of cybersecurity and national security, in fact they are just another way to keep people uninformed and to bar them from expressing their views,” Tsomo said.

“Raising the amount of the reward to informants from 100,000 yuan in 2018 to 300,000 yuan this year is a threat to citizens who are simply exercising their freedom of expression,” Tsomo said.

Also speaking to RFA, Sonam Topgyal, a researcher at the Dharamsala-based Tibet Watch, said that similar restrictions on internet activities have already been in force in Tibetan areas of China “for a long time.”

“These laws have even been implemented in elementary schools in Tibet,” Topgyal said, adding, “The Chinese government has left no space for anyone to criticize the government in any way, and has deployed informants within different parts of the Tibetan community.”

China’s roll-out in February of the raised reward amount comes amid the launch of a separate Tibet-wide campaign against organized crime and “black and evil forces” that sources in the region say is being used as an excuse to crack down on Tibetans and has led to mistrust within local communities.

The campaign has resulted in the “detention, arrest, and torture of human rights and environmental activists and of ordinary Tibetans promoting the use of the Tibetan language,” TCHRD said in a report released in May.

I didn't know CTA minds so much that when someone is not allowed to express their views and given freedom to what they want to do. CTA is such a hypocrite, they criticise China for restricting the Tibetans to express their views but the CTA is also suppressing Dorje Shugden practitioners!

Dorje Shugden followers were told to give up the practice, they are not allowed to practice what they want. For people who refuse to give up the practice, they are segregated and threatened. Many had to flee from the Tibetan community to safeguard themselves. CTA actually encourages Tibetans to harm Dorje Shugden practitioner, this is worse than becoming an informer.

All CTA does is condemning China, they did not think of what the Dalai Lama wants. On the surface, it looks like they respect the Dalai Lama a lot, but in fact they don't. They always go against the Dalai Lama. Dalai Lama to them is only a money making tool. How sad.

You are right Tracy... actually the CTA... especially the one that calls himself "President" do not follow His Holiness's advice all the time. In fact, he and CTA is very very selective. Yes the followed His advice to ban Dorje Shugden and segregate their people but they do not follow His advice to make friends with China and basically to do that you need to stop irritating China with remarks such as "China is trying to wipe out the Tibetan culture".

Obviously, China is not going to entertain CTA and now they will sure not entertain CTA or the Middle-Way approach as they will just sit and wait until the Dalai Lama enters clear light. So CTA can really save it and stop bs-ing Tibetan in exile that there is hope for such developments. Definitely not at the rate they are going about doing their horrible PR. Sangay should just close down CTA already, it's bound to happen anyway when the Dalai Lama goes.

Lobsang Sangay has been the president for the Tibetans in exile for the past 7 years but he has not done anything significant for the Tibetans. As a president, he is not very effective or aggressive. Apart from continuously asking money from the sponsors, I don’t really see him doing anything good.

When Lobsang Sangay first became the president, it seemed like there is a hope for the Tibetans. He is a graduate from the renowned Harvard University with a law degree. Who else in the Tibetan community has a qualification as high as him? Sadly, with such an impressive resume, Tibetans are still refugees.

He has given enough time for him to prove his capability, but so far, he has not produced any result. Since Tibetans are not united, no one has the power to scrutinise Lobsang Sangay and take charge of the CTA. In fact, CTA has created so much problems that no one wants to clean the mess.

Lobsang Sangay needs to really realign himself and CTA. It cannot keep using India for their advantage. India has done a lot for Tibetan and CTA has created so much trouble in India with their protest and ban on their own spiritual practice. Aren't CTA supposed to be more grateful and support India in returns?

Every move and request from CTA now is putting India in trouble or will create tense for its relationship with China. CTA should be responsible for their own acts and stop using others for their benefit. It's enough of 60 years and CTA should think of a way not to burden India anymore.

What the Tibetans do during the visit of President Xi in India shows how arrogant the CTA and Lobsang Sangay are. They don't care how much India has helped them for the past 60 years, they just want to achieve their goal of making troubles for China.

One of the things the CTA has to do for receiving the money from the west is to continuously condemn and disturb China. In order to maintain their support, the CTA's focus is to disturb China. The welfare of the Tibetans and India are not the priority.

But not for long... they can only do this because the have the media darling Dalai Lama at their side. Wait until His Holiness is no longer around and you can see what they end up being.... nothing.
China is obviously waiting for this to happen and because CTA does not know how to make friends with China, they will definitely feel it when His Holiness is gone and China really ignores them and chooses their own 15th Dalai Lama.

If CTA was smart, CTA should have been good friends and with that be able to help or be involve in finding the next Dalai Lama. Now all they can do is condemn China but it won't help them get Tibet back any time sooner or ever.

If CTA was smart, CTA should have been good friends and with that be able to help or be involve in finding the next Dalai Lama. Now all they can do is condemn China but it won't help them get Tibet back any time sooner or ever.

The CTA must know that China is getting more powerful every day. The CTA does not have the intention to reconcile with China or go back to Tibet. Most of the members in CTA have a foreign passport and property overseas, they have a place to go should there is no CTA anymore.

What they are doing now is to make as much money as possible for themselves because when there is no more CTA or Tibet cause, no more fund will be given to support them. This is how greedy and selfish CTA is a leader.

India will not lose its country like Tibet to China. Sangay can stop worrying about that. What Sangay really worries about is if India loses to China and Tibetan in exile will be under China. Sangay never wants to live under China and that's why you can see Sangay continue to irritate the Chinese even though Dalai Lama already said that he's ok to live under the Chinese and wants to return to his homeland. Sangay knew this but never work in this direction. Sangay knows that if Tibetan in the Chinese he will have no opportunity to milk the cow in his way. And most likely he has to run to US. As long as Sangay is still the president there will not be a light for the Dalai Lama and Tibetans return to Tibet. Now Sangay look more like the spy that want to sabotage Dalai Lama and Tibetan wishes.

China has not interest in taking over India but China has interest in taking back some of the territory which they think belong to them. Even though there are land issues between India and China, but both countries find ways to work together to develop their respective country and economy. Why is the CTA not willing to compromise with China? The Dalai Lama also says it will be better to have autonomous status under Chinese ruling, he is not looking at an independent Tibet anymore. Why is the CTA not trying to fulfil the Dalai Lama's wish? It is also time to stop asking India to help. What more can India give to the CTA? 60 years of support is more than enough, time to grow up and move on for the Tibetans!
