Sangay the climate change champion?
« on: September 07, 2017, 03:04:11 AM »
In trying to justify his attack on China as a "destroyer" of Tibet with the ultimate conclusion that the world and humankind will be worse off because of this (and therefore Tibetans should have autonomy - a CTA code word for INDEPENDENCE), "President" Dr Sangay said this recently, regarding Tibet’s significance as the "third pole" and as the water tower of Asia:

“It is a lifeline to over 1.4 billion people down the stream, which is endangered now. Tibet’s climate affects weather of North America and other parts of the world. NASA reports that by 2100 its glacier will melt down. This will happen because of urbanization and industrialization of Tibet.”"

It cannot be denied that any form of carbon hungry urbanization will contribute to the melting of glaciers, but Sangay has conveniently or ignorantly avoided the following facts which are reported by NASA scientists themselves:

"However, the ice cores also reveal that in the past decade BC and OC began to increase again, even on the Zuoqiupu glacier (Figure 2), which is mainly subject to Asian sources. The data suggest that increased black soot arises from Asian sources, especially the Indian subcontinent."

So Sangay, if you want to be a champion of climate change, please talk to your host country India first. *face palm*

Climate change is sad and it is worldwide, unfortunately. Yet for Lobsang Sangay it is all only because "of the urbanization and industrialization of Tibet". This is a bit simplistic, isn't it?

When does the CTA start to look around and see the many problems we face as planet earth. Tibet is only one part of the whole. I think the Chinese Government is interested in protecting the environment and it would be better for the CTA to work together with them to find solutions instead of accusing. How does the CTA help to reduce climate change?

Thank you Ringo Starr, this attempt by Lobsang Sangay to bring in green issues is laughable at best. I love it that you pointed out a lot of the glaciers melting are attributed to carbon emissions from the Indian sub continent.

He is grasping at straws, this will not server the Tibetans people at all and one bit.

I for one do not see the Tibetans in parts of Indian being champions of the environment etc, so its really a longshot by Lonbsang Sangay to try to link China to global environmental issues.

I wonder did Sangay know exactly what is climate change and what causes it. Instead of finding out the real issues and face it. He choose this issues and used as weapon to attack China. Whatever he could relate to China, he will not hesitate to use it without real find out. So much for a Harvard graduate!

Hahahaha... are we sure he is from Harvard? Maybe he paid for his degree? This Sangay is really getting desperate. Instead of going around spewing rubbish, thinking people do not know how to google, he should really try googling the facts himself first before making himself look like erm... not very smart?

Poor Tibetan in exile, stuck with a not so bright President. And just what has he done to help with climate change? What has he and his cabinet use all the million of dollars given to them yearly for? Can they and will they ever be transparent? I just saw the latest news ---- The US government has approved 17 million US Dollars in aid to the Tibetan government in exile (Central Tibetan Administration) in its 2018 budget. The aid will be to help the CTA preserve Tibetan ‘cultural traditions, promote sustainable development and improve education system’. Source from Phayul.

So I really look forward in seeing how the CTA will spend this 17million in the following year and they better show proof, otherwise we know where it all went!

The ineptness of the Lobang Sangay and the CTA brings much questions than answers to mind.

Not much results the past few years.

Could Lobsang Sangay be actually the Chinese mole that he was suspected of earlier in his administration?

It is not the first day that the CTA has to deal with the Chinese, so much experience and know how, why is CTA fumbling so badly now?

Why is Lobsang Sangay suddenly so concern about the climate change that will happen in 2100? Everyone alive now will not be alive by 2100.  Why is he so worry? He should be worry about how to win back their Tibetan people's trust in them. The Tibetans are already losing their trust in CTA because they do not see any progress or improvement happening.

Seriously, if you want to champion something, you better know exactly what the issue is. Then again, Lobsang Sangay's rather over simplistic comments pertaining to climate change and its causes utterly revealed his shady motivation to force this issue to his advantage and also his thinly veiled sabotage of efforts to further the Tibetan cause with China.

It is apparent he is twisting the issue to paint a bad picture of China which serves no benefit save to antagonise China and indirectly jeopardising the relationship/any possibility of negotiations.

After all, if Tibetans in exiles are no longer refugees, the financial aids and donations would not come easily to him or his cronies anymore.

This lame example against China is only to deviate what is really happening! The CTA and Sangay in the first place have done nothing for the Tibetans and they only point fingers at China and insult them in any possible way!

But the end of the line is that the CTA, the Central Tibetan Administration have no results whatsoever so that the only way to keep face is to point fingers at those who have done so much for the people in Tibet!

Good luck Sangay! Any plans for a new career as a climate change expert??

Urbanization and industrialization is happening at global level, not only in Tibet. Same with climate change. How can President Sangay blamed in on China? If China is the culprit for the climate change, I think UN will come after them long time already, they don't need President Sangay to point it out.

President Sangay should mind his own business to solve Tibetan issues than on an issue that he has no knowledge of.
