psylotripitaka has a point. we cannot assume by just looking at a book cover from afar. I would like to think that Robert Thurman, a Tibetan Studies professor, a Buddhist and a student of the Dalai Lama will have managed to straddle both the academic world and the spiritual world. That does not mean I condone his slandering and bad mouthing of other lamas in their practice. Afterall, these practices have been around for a few hundred years.

The Christians have a phrase - let no man put asunder what God has put together. in this case, let no man put asunder what the Buddhas has shown. If we are Buddhist, we better believe in karma which will boomerang to catch you.

All said, it is disappointing to see a respected writer and academician undermine himself.
