THE DALAI LAMA RANKED 9TH IN LIST OF WORLD LEADERS
« on: May 08, 2014, 06:29:01 AM »
The Dalai Lama is ranked 9th in the list of world leaders. It is quite amazing that someone who has created schism among Tibetan Buddhists and endorsed discrimination against his own people for practising a particular religion can receive such a ranking. Either nobody is listening to the mass protests by Dorje Shugden practitioners on the Dalai Lama's last tour to the US or they are not bothered by it, or perhaps a combination of both.

Fortune, the global business magazine published by Time Inc., known for its annual features ranking companies by revenue and other lists, has just published its ranking of the world’s 50 greatest leaders. In an era that feels starved of leadership, the magazine says it has sought out figures who will inspire its readers, leaders who energize their followers and are making the world better.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama is placed ninth in the list of fifty, which includes Chair of the Burmese National League for Democracy Aung San Suu Kyi and Pope Francis. The Dalai Lama and the Pope are the only two spiritual leaders in the list. In its brief description of His Holiness, Fortune magazine pays tribute to his tirelessly campaigning for peace, non-violence and democracy for more than 50 years, as well as his efforts to promote inter-religious harmony. Acknowledging his charisma, the magazine also notes His Holiness’s 8.6 million followers on Twitter as an indication of his influence.

I think that the mass media, especially in the west, has deliberately chosen not to ruffle the feathers of popular thought. After all, HH the Dalai Lama is a personality revered within the Buddhist communities and loved throughout the world. To 'out' him as someone who has created politically sanctioned discrimination against a religious minority and thus a violent fracture within the Tibetan diaspora may be considered to be akin to saying that Santa Claus is a paedophile. So i guess no journalist is willing to go out on a limb though i do think that someone who is willing to do so could have a scoop on his hands - after all, the perspective of the Dorje Shugden practitioner is well thought out and presented on this website so that any idiot can make sense of it. It would be a credit to any investigative journalist to present the other side of the story.

I am not surprised that the Dalai Lama is so highly regarded even within secular circles. There's something about the Dalai Lama's incredible charisma and persona that totally embraces his audience that people are just bowled over by it. This is inconsideration of the Dalai Lama's incredible work of uplifting Buddhadharma all over the world and also the further the Tibetan cause. Everything the Dalai Lama does seems to be in huge contrast against the Shugden ban.

It seems that the ban on Shugden is risking everything that the Dalai Lama had worked so hard for. As more and more people in the West realize what the Dalai Lama is doing, this would surely jeopardise everything he had been working for. In other words, there is nothing that the Dalai Lama really stands to gain from the ban. If it was power, there must be some signs that the Dalai lama is gaining more power or prestige from this. There's no signs of this of course and not real signs of any benefit to be gain from upholding the ban. Time to release it and let freedom of religion pervade once more.

The Dalai Lama has always been an advocate for peace and harmony in the international community and that led to his award of the Noble Peace Prize. With this prize, he was even more famous and influential. He is always seen in events that promote peace and happiness. However, fail to see or choose to be ignorant of the ugly side of  the Dalai Lama where he has banned a practice of which is practiced in the Tibetan community for centuries. Many people have suffered as a result of this ban. How could a leader who divides his people ranked so high??

The Nobel Peace prize award for the Dalai Lama was a political move by the western world to subtly undermine China's growing economic power in the world. What actually has the Dalai Lama done to promote peace which is different from every other Buddhist lama in the world? Every lama teaches peace, respect to all, harmony and non-violence. But not every lama has created a schism in the Buddhist world where practitioners of a particular deity are ostracised and thrown out of monasteries. What amazes me is that the Western press has not looked into it, as diamond girl has rightly said - the story is HERE, right here on this website. The points FOR and AGAINST the ban are HERE, on this very website. It only takes a journalist who does not wish to be a lemming to take up the challenge and highlight the injustice of the Shugden ban to the world and he or she will have a SCOOP!

This is not a surprise. After all the Dalai Lama is a Nobel Laureate. His public persona is incredibly captivating and he have spread the dharma far and wide. He is one of the reasons Buddhism is the fastest growing religion in the world. This ranking is just a reflection of that. It is just the way things operate for it seems his ban of the Dorje Shugden practice has not affected his reputation now in my humble opinion should it. This is because the world tend to this the Protector issue is "internal".
That is why I think we need to highlight to the world His Holiness actions with regard to the Protector practice as it is not internal but affects millions of practitioners including Tibetans also. We are not here to negate His positive actions of spreading the Dharma but to work for the people's freedom of practice.

The Dalai Lama has served as an inspirational force for Buddhists worldwide for decades,  working very hard to promote Buddhism all over the world. It is due to his continuous efforts in teaching the Buddhist doctrine and meeting influential people that Buddhism has become mainstream in the USA and Europe. The Dalai Lama was even invited to lead the US Senate prayers on March 6, 2014. It was a historical event for all Buddhists around the world as it marks another milestone of what Buddhism represents; peace, compassion and universal harmony.

However, behind that face that most people see, the Dalai Lama was also instrumental in creating suppression, division, violence among his own people. Those who propitiate Dorje Shugden became the victims of his ban. I hope the Dalai Lama has by now realised his grave mistake. Now that worldwide media is aware and reporting on this (judging from the wide coverage on the latest protests in papers and TV when the Dalai Lama visited the US), I hope the Dalai Lama will without delay remove it before all the good work he has done becomes all but a faded memory and the world only remembers him of this unjust ban.

The issue on the view by the world that the Protector practice is "internal" within Tibetan Buddhism? There are millions of Dorje Shugden practitioners who went underground to practice in "secret" and those who went public about their practice. How can this be an "internal" issue when some of the world's DS practitioners personally attends protests wherever Dalai Lama goes to highlight the ban and news of them goes online and into main stream media.

It is no longer an "internal" issue that concerns Tibetan Buddhism practice but an infringement into "religious freedom" which the Tibetan does not condone to.

The false Dalai Lama is not teaching Buddhism. Some examples:

"Sleep is the best meditation"

"Breathe in, cherish yourself, breathe out, cherish others"

Because of his widely reported disbelief in Mount Meru, many of his followers no longer engage in making mandala offerings. He has trashed the reputations of his teachers through his fierce sectarian agenda to destroy the Gelugpa Tradition.

Please see that the false Dalai Lama is destroying Buddhism. He doesn't encourage people to refuge in the Three Jewels. What he's teaching is nothing more than humanism. At the recent demonstrations in mainland Europe, many people left his teachings early claiming that they were boring or that he was a fraud. They were disappointed because it's all style and no substance. When does he ever encourage people to rely on Holy Beings? It's all about self promotion and making lots of money. Open your eyes and see the truth.

In a world which is so lacking of LEADERS, I am not surprised that some of the 50 named leaders are not quite what is normally expected of them.

The Dalai Lama is seen as the world leader of Buddhism and having been a Noble Prize winner for peace, would qualify Him as a leader.  The Dalai Lama has done much to expose Buddhism to the west and since the knowledge of Buddhism by a large extent is very superficial, Fortune in lack of choice, will overlook such a great misconduct of repressing religious freedom and persecution of Shugden practitioners by the Dalai Lama.

Journalism is about the truth, and if all the protests by the Shugden practitioners are overlooked, we then have to question the authenticity of the magazine.
