Cambodians pray for missing aircraft

PHNOM PENH: Some 100 Cambodians, including Buddhist monks, prayed here for the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 with 239 people on board.

“We pray for the passengers of the missing plane and wish that the plane would be found soon,” said a rights activist, Tep Vanny, who organised last night’s prayers.

“We’d like to share our sympathies with the family members of the passengers on board the missing flight MH370.”

On Sunday evening, about 1,000 Cambodian Muslims also prayed in a mosque on the outskirts of the capital for the missing jetliner. — Xinhua

Malaysia plane: Families go on hunger strike
Report by Sarah Kerr
Tue 18 Mar 2014 08:09

Chinese families of passengers on board the missing Malaysian Airlines plane have threatened to go on hunger strike, demanding the Malaysian government tell them the truth about the fate of loved ones aboard missing flight MH370.

No trace of the flight has been found despite a search of unprecedented scale involving 26 countries, covering an area stretching from the shores of the Caspian Sea in the north to deep in the southern Indian Ocean.

Around two thirds of the 239 passengers on board the flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing were Chinese and have been cleared of any links to terrorism, according to officials.

Considering the heavy presence of US warships in the region where the plane lost contact, the recent ”pivot to Asia” of US geopolitics, the repeated suggestion by the presstitute Western media of the involvement of two Iranian immigrants carrying fake passports, the US subservience to Israeli interests, the thorny relations between Malaysia and Israel, and the US state-terrorism antecedents of downing civilian airplanes belonging to non-compliant Islamic countries, such as Iran, thus killing hundreds of innocent people including children, the odds are that the Malaysian plane was simply downed by one of the many US warships in that region.

Let's not forget the Iran Air Flight 655, which was an Iran Air civilian passenger flight from Tehran to Dubai that was shot down by the United States Navy guided missile cruiser USS Vincennes on 3 July 1988. The attack took place in Iranian airspace, over Iran's territorial waters in the Persian Gulf, and on the flight's usual flight path. The aircraft, an Airbus A300 B2-203, was destroyed by SM-2MR surface-to-air missiles fired from the Vincennes. All 290 on board, including 66 children and 16 crew, died. This attack ranks ninth among the deadliest disasters in aviation history; the incident retains the highest death toll of any aviation incident in the Indian Ocean and the highest death toll of any incident involving an Airbus A300 anywhere in the world.

Its been two weeks since the Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 jetliner mysteriously disappeared, carrying 239 people on board. Search and rescue parties comprising the military forces of so many nations around the world have got together to look for the missing aircraft while anxious family members and loved ones waited in suspense.
It is very heart wrenching to see all the relatives and friends of those on that flight sobbing uncontrollably not knowing what happened or where their loved ones is. May Dorje Shugden guide and comfort everyone affected by this mysterious tragedy.

Buddhist Volunteers Comforting MH370 Families in Malaysia
BY PAUL GOLDMAN

KUALA LUMPUR - As anxious relatives gather ever day in Kuala Lumpur for news of missing Flight 370, some are finding comfort in the form of Buddhist volunteers from the Tzu Chi Foundation.

About 10 volunteers from the Taiwan-based organization are offering round-the-clock counseling for relatives who have spent two agonizing weeks hoping for a breakthrough in the hunt for the Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777.

“They are very, very frustrated because they are not sure where their families are,” said one of the volunteers, Sio Kee Homg.

Every new piece of information triggers fresh emotion, even among those who are resigned to never seeing their loved ones again, he said.

”We hug them, we give them a tissue when they cry, we are physically there to listen to their frustration. We try to talk about something that is more positive.”

He added: “Of course there are family members that are preparing for the worst. They are sort of becoming very calm when they hear new developments. I think that, while they are preparing for the worst, they are still praying hard and still hopeful that their family members are still alive.”

This is indeed very sad news. Until today there is still no news about what has happened to the plane. I feel very sorry for the relatives as they are still in the dark and worried at the same time. I was wondering if there is a way someone can ask for help from an oracle or divination from a Guru for some answers so that the family can get to know what really happened. At least whether they are still alive or not... This horrible incident reminds me of the movie Alive as nobody knew where to search and the survivors had to suffer so much during the process. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alive_(1993_film)

It is always tragic to get news of disasters where many lives are lost. Many religions around the world has gathered and prayed those lives potentially lost and for their love ones to have peace during this time of distress.

This is either the stupidest incident in the history of modern aviation for losing a plane or one of the most brilliant hijack ever pulled. No punt intended but my money is on stupid and incompetence.

Yes. All me prayers to the passengers and the families. From my side of the world where we think everything can be explained easily, we are stumped as to what really happened. Where is MH370? What happened to the passengers? While we all hope they are all safe, the chances of that is slim. I read with tears in my eyes the sufferings of the families and I can only imagine what must have gone through the minds of these passengers.

It is a reminder of the fragility of life and the suffering of samsara; hence one must start practicing the Dharma well.

An announcement was made by the Prime Minister of Malaysia last night to say that with deep regret and sadness the flight MH 370 has been tracked  by UK investigators using a new analysis, concluded that the missing plane flew along the southern corridor and its last position was in the middle of the Indian Ocean far from any possible landing site. Hence, it would have most likely crashed into the ocean.
The search for the plane will continue till they find it.
This news probably confirms many people's thoughts, though most, prior to this, still hung on to a thin thread of the possibility of a miracle.
As a bystander a great  surge of sadness came onto me when i heard this piece of news. I can imagine the families and friends of those on board must be devastated beyond words. The suspense and pain and agony have stretched on for 17days . Living life in hell for many. OM MANI PADME HUM . May the pain and  suffering be transformed to a realization of IMPERMANENCE. May all learn from this tragedy to let go and do the right  thing in life. Take refuge in the 3 precious Jewels and transform to an enlightened mind which can be of benefit to others !

Let's hope the search is able to find the black box within 30 days.  It may solve the mystery of the missing flight and the world could learn from it to avoid such a disaster in the future.

MH370 crash: All eyes on Indian Ocean

KUALA LUMPUR: The search for missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 is now focused on the southern Indian Ocean in an area covering 460,000sq nautical miles.

Acting Transport Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein confirmed that the search in the northern corridor had been called off following conclusive evidence that the aircraft had ended in the southern Indian Ocean.

“We are now working to further narrow down the search area, using the four methods I mentioned previously: gathering information from satellite surveillance, analysis of surveillance radar data, increasing air and surface assets, and increasing the number of technical and subject matter experts,” he told the daily press conference here yesterday.

He said the search for the aircraft’s black box will be intensified with the American Towed Pinger Locator – an instrument that can help locate the black box – expected to arrive in Perth today. The instrument will be fitted on Australian ship Ocean Shield.

On the assets deployed, Hishammuddin said two South Korean aircraft, six Chinese ships and the HMAS Success were in the search area.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced on Monday that new analysis of satellite data by Inmarsat and the UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch concluded that MH370 had ended in the southern Indian Ocean.

Hishammuddin said Inmarsat recently developed an innovative technique which considers the velocity of the aircraft relative to the satellite.

“Depending on this relative movement, the frequency received and transmitted will differ from its normal value in much the same way that the sound of a passing car changes as it approaches and passes by. This is called the Doppler Effect.

“The Inmarsat technique analyses the difference between the frequency that the ground station expects to receive and one that is actually measured.

This difference is the result of the Doppler Effect and is known as the Burst Frequency Offset.

To ensure the theory was accurate, he said, Inmarsat had checked its predictions using information from six other Boeing 777 aircraft flying on the same day in various directions. “The theory had been proven accurate.”

“The analysis showed poor correlation with the northern corridor, but good correlation with the southern corridor, and depending on the ground speed of the aircraft, it was then possible to estimate positions at 0011 UTC, at which the last complete handshake took place.

“There is evidence of a partial handshake between the aircraft and groundstation at 0019 UTC. At this time this transmission is not understood and is subject to further ongoing work.

“No response was received from the aircraft at 0115 UTC, when the groundearth station sent the next log on/log off message.

“Therefore, sometime between 0011 UTC and 0115 UTC the aircraft was no longer able to communicate with the ground station.”

He said the final position of the aircraft needed to be determined by an international working group comprising agencies with expertise in satellite communications and aircraft performance.

This is extremely disheartening news. Although I am not directly affected due to being far away from this place but it affects us all. I've read that the plane had ended up in the ocean near Perth. It seems they are all gone. May Dorje Shugden guide them to a rebirth in the Dharma.

Prayers for all those missing, and their friends and relations. The international cooperation in the search is good to see, I hope the mystery of what happened is solved soon.

A police investigation may never determine the reason why the Malaysia Airlines jetliner disappeared, and search planes scouring the Indian Ocean for any sign of its wreckage aren't certain to find anything either, officials said Wednesday.

The assessment by Malaysian and Australian officials underscored the lack of knowledge authorities have about what happened on Flight 370. It also points to a scenario that becomes more likely with every passing day - that the fate of the Boeing 777 and the 239 people on board might remain a mystery forever.

Looking at this incident it remind me of impermanent. When our karma ripen nothing can help but have to face it but one thing we can do is as long as we realize and change ourself to benefit others by following the buddha teaching, anything going to happen we ready to face it. Life is so short and we can't waste no more. Is better we do something now then wait for things to happen later.

Human precious life, for being human is very rare and in order to continue to take rebirth as human is even rare but is possible. So don't waste time for nothing but learn up the dharma and practice them and collect more merits and karma in order to come back as a human and continue to teaching until enlightenment.

As for MH370 passengers, we don't what happen to them but with strong prayer especially to Lord Shugden we pray for great blessing to them.

3,000 Attend Mass Prayer

MH370: 3,000 people attend mass prayer for missing MH370

KUALA LUMPUR: Support among mankind is strength that helps people cope with life’s many adversities, says Malaysian Buddhist Association president Ven Jit Heng.

Describing the support as da ai (universal love), he said this, together with a person’s ability to cope, made a lot of difference.

Ven Jit Heng assured this to more than 3,000 people at a mass prayer for Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 that was organised by the MCA at Wisma MCA here yesterday.

About 20 Chinese families and two Malaysian families whose loved ones were on board the ill-fated flight were also at the prayer session.

MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said everyone wished for the safe return of all on board Flight MH370 as soon as possible.
