The Love and Blessings from Tzu Chi
« on: December 18, 2013, 05:01:40 PM »
The Love and Blessings from Tzu Chi never fails to impress me. Here they are and they are doing it again! Helping those in need especially during the critical time. Tzu Chi move me a lot.. Master Cheng Yen's instruction is really amazing! Whatever Master Cheng Yen does... is just amazing! She inspires so many who wants to do more and helping people is one of them. May Tzu Chi continue to grow and inspire many...

Since Tzu Chi Foundation’s arrival in Tacloban on November 15, the organization has achieved success with its Cash-for-Work program starting on November 20th. In less than a month, 280,000 people have regained strength and cleaned their homes. Through the relief fund from Cash-for-Work, the participants can face rising inflation and purchase materials for rebuilding. Since December 14, there will be three days of large-scale aid distributions to conclude the emergency stage of relief work.

After Typhoon Haiyan swept across the Philippines, the disaster has devastated nearly all the houses by the seashore. Tzu Chi’s Cash-for-Work program covers areas from Anibong Elementary School to San Jose Barangay, Tzu Chi volunteers worked hand-in-hand with local residents on cleaning the streets of 70 barangays (districts). In working with Tacloban’s waste management plan, 40 trucks, several loaders, excavators and other heavy equipments are arranged to remove post-disaster debris in avoidance of pandemic diseases and rejuvenate the city’s vitality.

In following Master Cheng Yen’s instruction, “Education is a priority in rebuilding a disaster area.” Since December 11th, Tzu Chi Foundation has built pre-fabricated classrooms in Tunga Central School and Scared Heart School. An estimate of over 50 classrooms will be built. The pre-fabricated classroom can be used for 5 years. Good ventilation and safety measures are the design features. The classrooms projects hope for students to return to school and study in a safe space.

Tzu Chi organisation will always be present go help and give assistance immediately,  especially locations where disaster strikes. Their leader's leadership is highly appreciated around and world and admired by governments and its citizen. Spreading the dharma can be done in many ways but the best is to be kind to those, those who seek help and show them care and hope.

Tzu Chi has a lot of experience responding to natural disasters like hurricanes, earthquakes, typhoons as well as human disasters like epidemics, famine and poverty. The organisation is committed to compassion and relief that has helped millions of people in the world. It also provides medical assistance to poor people in its hospital in Hualien, Taiwan. Tzu Chi is headed by Venerable Master Cheng Yen, a Buddhist nun with an extraordinary vision. She has overcome many challenges in order to bring relief to the poor and needy. Tzu Chi has more than ten million members in more than forty countries. Since the establishment of the Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation in 1966, the organisation has brought relief to people all over the world. Its work ranges from rebuilding communities after natural disasters to providing bone marrow transplants.

Tzu Chi are seen everywhere in the world, offering mental and monetary relief to victims of natural disasters, warfare or human-caused accidents.  They have been called “living Bodhisattvas” by beneficiaries of their assistance as well as others who have witnessed their charitable acts.

Master Chen Yen, is the embodiments of purity, virtue, compassion and universal love.

Whenever there is a disaster, Tzu Chi Organisation will be the first to be there to send relief and aid, even faster that governments. They are fast in their actions and ever ready to go to help. THis is the culture that was created by Master Cheng Yen to her disciples and members. It is in line with the Buddhist teaching of being compassionate. They are really compassion in action and they help all not withstanding culture, religion race and gender. On top of sending relief, they also help the community rebuild their lives. Not only recently in areas hit by Haiyan typhoon, they have have successfully rebuilt communities in Sri Lanka after the Tsunami and earthquake victims in China.

The Taiwan Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation is building dozens of semi-permanent classrooms in Zamboanga City to help ease the shortage of rooms in public schools being used as temporary shelters by villagers displaced by the war between rebels and security forces late last year. At least 80 pre-fabricated rooms made from aluminium and polypropylene are being built in the villages of Talon-Talon, Tulungatung, Taluksangay, Ayala and Sangali. On Tuesday, the Tzu Chi Foundation led by Dr. Anton Lim has turned over six classrooms in Talon-Talon National High School to Mayor Maria Isabelle Salazar. Lim said each pre-fabricated room cost around $7,200 (P326,952) which did not include the platform worth about $700 (P32,000). The classroom can hold up to 75 students and is designed with adequate ventilation and sound-proof walls.

I have always been impressed by Tzu Chi and their compassionate works. The nun who heads the organisation, Master Cheng Yen, is incredibly humble and she still makes candles for sale everyday to sustain herself. In modern society, people are more drawn to compassionate community work - and for Buddhism to grow, certain people will be more attracted to community work than sitting meditations. For these reasons i believe that different Buddhist schools will appeal to different people because of our vastly differing mindsets.

Tzu Chi with the guidance of the Buddha's teachings and his disciple Master Cheng Yen had to endure a lot of challenges to arrive at what they are today. It was definitely not an easy journey and continues to be challenging. However, their motivation and focus has been consistently on helping others. They are practicing Boddhicitta in every decision and action they make. Many around the world have benefitted from their care and generosity . Kudos to Tzu Chi !! It would be great if many many more organisations can emulate them to help others !

The Tzu Chi Organization is fast becoming a household name as the organization that is at the forefront in every relief effort any where in the world , where disaster has struck, be it a natural or man-made disaster. Tzu Chi stands for all that is beautiful in Lord Buddha's teachings, love and compassion, peace and harmony. Tzu Chi's work crosses borders , be they racial or religious. Tzu Chi is like a breath of fresh air.

Buddhism badly needs to revamp ts image. With violence in Buddhist countries like Thailand, Myanmar and Sri Lanka and self-immolations of Tibetans(mainly the monastics) in China in their struggle for Tibet's Independence, Buddhism's image of a religion of peace and compassion has been severely tarnished. Furthermore, within the Tibetan community-in-exile, a huge schism has been created by the ban on the practice of Dorje Shugden. Much violent treatment has been meted out to Shugden practitioners.Peace can only begin to find its way back into the Tibetan community with the lifting of the ban. May the ban be lifted soon.

Tzu Chi Foundation literally means “Compasionate Relief”. Whenever there is  any disastrous  event in any countries or remote areas, Tzu Chi’s volunteers in blue  and white will be seen roaming at the site. These volunteers are there to render mental support, relief, faith and prayers to all the affected parties. Through these years, Tzu Chi Foundation under the wings of Ven. Master Cheng Yen has in fact touched the hearts of many in the world. Besides Tzu Chi Foundation is also well known as the charitable organizations . Ven. Master Cheng Yen is indeed a very respectable and compassionate  teacher
