To have foresight or to seize the right moment?
« on: December 08, 2013, 03:57:09 PM »
This teaches us to view things in a wider perspective and look beyond us.Every achievement in life starts from a small step.We have to be practical and down to earth. If we have great ideals but do not carry them out step by step, things will not turn out well.On the other hand,if one knows how to seize the opportunity but do not have any plans to achieve it,the results will be not promising as well.
To me both are as important.Which is important to you?

Basically we need both great deals and plans to achieve the results. Lack of one of them will not bring us to any of the results if we were to achieve will only be short term and nothing at all.
I would like to take this example as an analogy of Compassion and Wisdom in the Buddhist teaching. Compassion is like the great deal where we know that this is a great idea to strike the deal and Wisdom is the right plan and method to execute and close the deal successfully.

For just having great compassion by knowing what is right and wrong does not enough to benefits other because we need wisdom to action accordingly or correctly to be able to benefits others in long term. Compassion and Wisdom work hand in hand to bring the greatest benefit and to many in long term.

Both are the same. Whether to seize the moment or to have the foresight, both requires that one carries it though step by step. If we practice the Dharma and do purification practices along with accumulating merits, we will have the merits or karma to meet the right opportunities for worldly or dharma path. We need to have the foresight to do that and when the opportunity arises, we seize the opportunity.

That is what I think.

Both is equally  important .Foresight thinking is important becos it allows us to prepare ahead...its essential for us to make good decisions on where to go and what to do next...Seizing the right moment when opportunity knocks on our door and grabbing it when it comes, and trying it out is better than missing the  chance so that we do  not regret later.

We may predict the future outcome based on our past experience. But how many have the foresight to know the future accurately? Anything can happen in the future. We can plan all that could be planned, the future outcome is still subjective.

Seizing the right moment is an important factor in ensuring we succeed or we fail. We may lack the foresight, but if we are aware and mindful of the rare opportunity that comes knocking our door, we will succeed. This opportunity is definitive and will produce the results that we want if we work on it. If we miss this opportunity, we may not get it again.

Buddhism taught us to live the present, to forget the past and to not worry about the future. Hence, i would say seizing the right moment is more important than having the foresight.
