Power vs Integrity
« on: September 26, 2013, 05:47:01 PM »
This is an interesting video on integrity. Hollywood star Goldie Hawn shared this story:

Small | Large

Goldie Hawn held on to her integrity and didn't give in to the power-that-be in her quest to be an actress in the cut-throat film industry...

When people in power flexing their muscles to get their ways and taking advantage of innocent and desperate work seekers, I wonder if their karma is heavier than the criminal such as rapist, who use violence?

I admire celebrities in the cut-throat environment in Hollywood who are able to adapt and surface to all that stifle.  Without integrity and just power celebrities will not withstand Hollywood or in any society for that matter.  The power of the game is Integrity a quality to have and respect in everyone.

May Goldie Hawn have many golden years in Hollywood!

Thank you very much for sharing such as in inspirational story. Goldie Hawn believes in integrity and perseverance to make it. It is such a good example to learn from. No matter what industry or specialization we are in if we take the easy way, not building a foundation, a solid character for the job, sooner or later we will give in to higher pressure. It is also a lesson on patience, how patient we are in pursuing our dreams.

It is not only in the entertainment industry that such power play exist. In virtually all levels of society, regardless of country, culture or religion, power play exist. This is samsara. People take advantage of people, animals, religion and what not to get what they want, hoping to get some kind of happiness; which in reality are just some relieve from their suffering. Because of the ego and the resultant selfishness, others' suffering is disregarded.

Rapes, robberies, frauds, lies, cheating, covering etc are all manifestations of this selfish minds. That is where the Dharma can cure us of this.
