Foreign Embassies Holding Charity Fundraiser for Chinese Handicapped Children Received 5,000 Yuan in Counterfeit Money
Yesterday [December 9th], foreign embassies in Guangzhou held a charity fundraiser to help China’s handicapped children and collectively raised 330,000 RMB. However, someone unbelievably took advantage of the foreign consuls’ inability to identify Chinese counterfeit money and spent 5,000 yuan of fake money to purchase items at the charity sale. The counterfeit money was discovered when the donation were collected and countered by the Federation of Handicapped People, all of them being brand new, sequentially-numbered 100 yuan bills, and the Consulate General of Korea alone received 800 yuan in counterfeit money. Reporter “SSer-???” of Yangcheng Evening News said that she personally witnessed the disappointed look on the face of the Consul General of Chile.

This is so sad. I think it is extremely pathetic that people would go so low as to provide counterfeit money towards causes that do so much for others. It is so unfair. This is practically stealing. The poor children would not be able to benefit from that certain amount of counterfeited money. I hope that someone will do something about it!

The Chinese have lost their core humanitarian values which is the direct result of their cultural revolution. The Chinese government is well aware of this and they have been promoting Buddhism as a religion to educate the masses and reinstill humanitarian values in them. Moral decay can be a very big problem for a country as it will slowly erode the country's stability and reputation. At these times, Dorje Shugden would be the most effective method to help tame these people and make them come to their senses.

Poor but proud, this is my philosophy. People can go ask the China Disabled Persons’ Federation how much money they collect each year and how much money the Chinese government spends aiding disabled people each year. It’s okay for foreigners to hold charity fundraisers, but please go back to your own countries to raise money, go back to your own countries to hold charity sales, as this would be a net inflow, and thus real charity. But to hold a charity sale in China is definitely a fake philanthropic act. We Chinese ourselves have philanthropic acts such as charity sales and charity performances, and even though there are both real ones and fake ones, I’m not against them, as we can deal with them all by ourselves.

For me, this is a sign of the widespread materialism that is rampant all over China for the last 2 decades as China rushes towards economic supremacy. Due to decades of poverty, the Chinese had become especially hungry for success and there's this thick atmosphere of cut throat need to succeed. This would be generation of wealth and power and all these would lead towards saturation, excess and soul-searching amongst many Chinese who would eventually become disillusioned by wealth.

That is where many would look for spirituality and the first that they would look for would be spiritual traditions that they would be familiar with like Buddhism. To a smaller extent, this is already apparent in Chinese society today. I think Dorje Shugden would be ideal like I have mentioned and elaborated on many previous threads. Dorje Shugden would be high appealing because the practice can alleviate temporal problems and obstacles and can lead many towards the Dharma. Hence, the many temples and monasteries that propitiate Dorje Shugden would become pivotal for this time and Dorje Shugden's time will come. It is just a matter of time and all this whether deliberate or not is the direct consequence of the Dalai Lama's ban.

Here we have people with a good heart, arranging to raise funds for the needy and then some people take advantage by using counterfeit money. Just goes to show how evil minds will go to great lengths to try to cover up their trail of dirty money.

It's a shame that some people would stoop to doing this, to deprive some Underprivileged Children from receiving some charity.

As a nation progresses materially, the lack of  virtues/morality will set in. Last 20 years, China has evolved into the second biggest economy in the world, and the traditional big powers like the United States and the European Union have been pushing for China to take a more assertive and responsible role in international affairs. Although their real intentions may be mixed, we could not deny the fact that the world, which has witnessed and welcomed the rise of China, actually longs to see the new emerging power turn into a strong helping hand for relieving the miseries of the distraught planet.

This event must have been a let down for organisers, recipients and Chinese government alike. To findout at the end of the day that their hard work for organising an event of such nature was being taken advantage of. The disappointment of the recipient for having been short changed. And to add salt to the wound, the Chinese government were insulted that foreigners were raising funds for the Chinese. What a slap on their face knowing how much pride Chinese have.

My opinion is that a socialist country must first go for spiritual reform before economic reform. Chinese have been deprived of any spiritual practice for decades. I heard from a few sources recently that Chinese government are now relaxing their rules on spiritual practice. This is indeed a nourishment to the soul of the millions who have been thirsty of it. How timely.

But we have let them down on this particular occasion. The disappointed face of that Chile consul general well represents the group of “good friends” from abroad who wish to do good to China but meet with disappointment instead.
