 Dear Helena,

I think when we have achieved a balanced view, we would react rather calmly inside whether we receive praises or criticisms, gaining or loosing material things, and enjoying things through our senses or not, when I say calm, I mean there is no big emotional swing internally.  We won't talk about it all the time but simply accept it and just let it go. In other words, we are not carried away by the happy or sad emotions that are associated with the attachments and aversions.

Just my thoughts.....

Thank you for replying and sharing your thoughts, Triesa.

Most appreciated. Yes, I totally agree - as much as we want happiness, we should not be attached to it.

It is like you said, whether happy or sad, bad or good - we should not become attached to it. When anything becomes an attachment, it is no longer a good thing and there will be no balance, so-to-speak.

A calm state of mind is one which has clarity and tranquility to see things as they really are - without duality.
