Title: So no more searching for H.H Dalai Lama's reincarnation?
Post by: christine V on November 09, 2018, 11:05:45 AM
Did i understand wrongly on this news? That H.H Dalai Lama has new idea to get whom the next H.H Dalai Lama. And, no more searching for the reincarnation of Dalai Lama?

Will the entire Tibetan Buddhism change to new system followed H.H Dalai Lama new methods?

Dalai Lama says high priests to discuss adult successor

83-year-old brushes off terminal cancer rumor but reveals 2016 treatment
YUJI KURONUMA, Nikkei staff writer
November 05, 2018 22:24 JST

DHARAMSHALA, India -- The 14th Dalai Lama on Monday said a committee of high priests are deliberating over the selection of his successor. The spiritual leader of the Tibetan people also hinted at terminating the traditional practice of finding an infant reincarnation of the Dalai Lama.

In an interview with Nikkei and other news organizations, the 83-year-old said his successor will be "a high lama or high scholar," or a person "around 20 years old."

At least 130,000 Tibetans live in exile, including 85,000 in India. Most of the world's 6 million Tibetans live in the autonomous Tibetan region of western China and regard the Dalai Lama as their spiritual leader.

Though the Dalai Lama did not spell out his intentions, the plan he described is seen as a strategy to keep China from interfering in Tibetan affairs by nominating an infant successor favorable to China.

He also revealed that he once had prostate cancer but is now "completely cured," thanks to radiation therapy he underwent in 2016 in the U.S. He brushed off reports that he is suffering from terminal cancer.

The Dalai Lama has been living in exile, in India, since 1959, after an uprising failed and China abolished the Tibetan government.

Since 1974, he has demanded that Beijing grant Tibet a high degree of autonomy, a shift from the previous demand for independence.

Beijing regards the Dalai Lama as a separatist who still seeks independence.

At the onset of the interview, the Dalai Lama said high priests representing the "people" are deliberating the selection of his successor. "Whether the institution of [the] Dalai Lama should continue or not, it is up to [the] Tibetan people," he said.

The high priests' committee will meet as early as Nov. 29, for the first time since 2011, to discuss a method of succession under which "one elder, truly popular and respected, can be chosen as Dalai Lama."

"I think sooner or later, we should start that kind of practice," he said of naming a new Dalai Lama who is around the age of 20, if a high priest or scholar is not selected. As for infant reincarnation, he said, "eventually [that] becomes [a] disgrace."

China has grown wary about who might succeed the Dalai Lama. Rumor has it that Chinese authorities seek to name a successor on their own, someone who is loyal to Beijing.

In regard to China, he said, "Tibet is historically independent but today it is [of] mutual interest [to have] Tibet in the Republic of China ... as [Tibet] was [a] poor country." He added that he will continue to demand that China preserve the "Tibetan language, culture and environment."

Referring to talks with China on Tibet's demand for a high degree of autonomy, the Dalai Lama said, "Since we don't seek independence, I don't think [political dialogue] is highly necessary."

The talks have been suspended since 2010.

But he showed a forward-looking stance. "I think eventually [the] dialogue will [re-]start," he said.

The Dalai Lama also discussed his thoughts on Myanmar's Rohingya Muslims, who are being persecuted in the Buddhist-majority country. He touched on the famine in Yemen, the Middle East's poorest country, which has been under bombardment by Saudi Arabia, a Sunni-majority country.

"You see in Yemen -- the people, particularly children -- there is starvation. And Syria, very sad, very sad. In this case, the worst thing is that [the conflicts are] in the name of religion. Shia and Sunni -- unthinkable," he said.

The Nobel laureate revealed that through talks and letters over the past year he has urged Aung San Suu Kyi, Myanmar's de facto leader and another winner of the peace prize, to settle the Rohingya problem.

He said Suu Kyi "clearly mentioned that there are internal problems." Hence, he is not able to advise her. "I cannot do anything," he said.

This is exactly what I predicted the Dalai Lama and the CTA would do.

Here is a link to my article titled "Silence from the Panchen Lama and China on His Recognition by the Dalai Lama.

"Silence" from the Panchen Lama and China on His recognition by the Dalai Lama!

We are all aware of the 14th Dalai Lama recognizing the Chinese 11th Panchen Lama.

Did you ever hear of any official or unofficial reply from either the Panchen Lama or the Chinese Government?

NO!!

WHY THEIR SILENCE???

You would think that they would be publicly celebrating this wonderful news from the Dalai Lama.

Celebrating the fact that their "Golden Urn" method of discovering reincarnated Tulkus was correct.

BUT NOT A SINGLE WORD FROM EITHER OF THEM!!

Here is a link to an article I wrote about this topic.

Has the Dalai Lama really recognized the Chinese 11th Panchen Lama? "NO"!!!!!!«

Quote

We have read the stories here and on Tsem Tulku's website about the Dalai Lama recognizing the Chinese 11th Panchen Lama.

But did he really do that in fact?

"NO"!!!!!

The Dalai Lama never stated that the Chinese 11th Panchen Lama will be his "Regent" in his next rebirth.

We did not hear him state that the 11th Panchen Lama will "LEAD" the "Official" search part to find his next reincarnation.

Finally we did not hear him state that the 11th Panchen Lama would be the one to "Recognize" and "Enthrone" him as the next 15th Dalai Lama.

The Dalai Lama's silence in regards to these three question is at the very heart of this matter.

So my questions stand as a remember to all that the 14th Dalai Lama and his Lineage can not be trusted.

Unquote

Could these be some of the reasons for the "Silence" of the 11th Panchen Lama and the Chinese Government?

Do they believe that the Dalai Lama is just trying to "Con" them by saying anything to get back into Tibet?

Why hasn't the Dalai Lama or the CTA made any further statements about the 11th Panchen Lama?

The  Dalia Lama drops this "Bomb" on the world and then just "Shuts up"?

It doesn't make any logical sense for the Dalai Lama and the CTA's continued "Silence".

Does the Dalai Lama and the CTA recognize the 11th Panchen Lama as the new "Regent" of Tibet?

Does the Dalai Lama and the CTA recognize the 11th Panchen Lama is going to "Officially" lead the investigation into finding the 15th Dalai Lama?

Does the Dalai Lama and the CTA recognize the 11th Panchen Lama is going to "Officially" recognize and enthrone the next 15th Dalai Lama?

Is the Dalai Lama's and the CTA's "Silence" to these three questions the reason for the "Silence" of the 11th Panchen Lama and China?

Are the Dalai Lama and and CTA up to their old tricks again?

The 11th Panchen Lama and the Chinese Government might just say YES!!!

[Unquote]

Now we can see the "Silence of the Dalai Lama and the CTA on the 11th Panchen Lama".

The Dalai Lama and the CTA had no true plans of making the 11th Panchen Lama the next "Regent" of Tibet after the DL's death.

No true plans on letting the 11th Panchen Lama lead in finding the next 15th Dalai Lama.

No true plans on letting the 11th Panchen Lama "Recognize and Enthrone" the next 15th Dalai Lama.

Just more LIES, LIES AND MORE LIES from the "Buddha of Compassion" the 14th Dalai Lama.

Never ever think that he will lift HIS BAN on Dorje Shugden!!!!

Dalai Lama says high priests to discuss adult successor

83-year-old brushes off terminal cancer rumor but reveals 2016 treatment

This is very interesting. So now His Holiness the Dalai Lama will hand over his throne to another being other than his own incarnation? This sounds like a trick for His Holiness the Dalai Lama to stop his next reincarnation being enthroned the title, Dalai Lama. His Holiness has said that he will be the last reincarnation of the line of Dalai Lamas and there will be no more Dalai Lamas after him. This was not accepted well by many parties including China.

China commented that His Holiness the Dalai Lama is wrong to say this because it will be against one of Buddhism fundamentals which is reincarnation. China is determined that there will be another Dalai Lama and they will be the one to have the authority to recognise him since Panchen Lama is on their side. Traditionally, Dalai Lama will be recognised by the Panchen Lama and vice versa.

If His Holiness can find his successor and enthroned him to be the next Dalai Lama, he will be free from the power and responsibility in his next reincarnation. This is actually BRILLIANT for His Holiness the come up with such an idea. He is after all, Buddha of Chenrezig, a fully enlightened being.

Errr exactly what is your point in saying all of the above @Alex?
What exactly is so brilliant about the Dalai Lama ending his line of incarnations? Do share your thoughts completely... not quite sure what you are getting at or insinuating?

How would ending his own line of incarnations be of benefit to anyone? In fact, wouldn't it be more of a disbenefit? Because it allows China to pick and choose whoever they want as the next Dalai Lama. This does not really help the Tibetans at all and I think a lot of them are not too happy with him as we can see those in Tibet started throwing an effigy of him over the river... http://www.dorjeshugden.com/all-articles/shocking-dalai-lama-statue-thrown-into-river-in-tibet/ (http://www.dorjeshugden.com/all-articles/shocking-dalai-lama-statue-thrown-into-river-in-tibet/)

Thank you for posting this topic christine v. I have read similar news to, but this one more interesting, saying that the selection of his successor could be done in a way the pope is selected by the Catholic Church in an election by cardinals. This is something very new to me. How would this work out for the Tibetans?

Dalai Lama: Successor could be chosen via method similar to selection of pope

DHARAMSALA, India -- The Dalai Lama, the exiled supreme leader of Tibetan Buddhism, said Nov. 5 that the selection of his successor could be done in a way the pope is selected by the Catholic Church in an election by cardinals.

"The kind of pope system is ... possible to choose among the high lama, or high scholars," the 83-year-old Dalai Lama said in an interview with the Mainichi Shimbun and other media outlets. He said naming his successor by himself is "also possible," explaining that there were some precedents of past leaders making selections while they were still alive.

Finding his "reincarnation" after his death -- like what was said to have happened with the second Dalai Lama and other leaders -- would be another way of choosing his successor, he said. If this method is not chosen, said the Dalai Lama, "When I become very old ... I will ask if they want to keep the way to choose the next Dalai Lama." He added it is "up to the Tibetan people" whether the institution of the Dalai Lama should continue or not.

As for his health, the Dalai Lama said he was diagnosed with cancer two years ago but it was cured after radiation therapy.

Tibet is controlled by China, and religious activities in the region including Buddhism are restricted by Beijing in an apparent bid to reduce the influence of the Dalai Lama and curb a potential separation movement.

Regarding the relationship with China, the Dalai Lama said he is not seeking independence. He said historically Tibet was an independent nation but "today for mutual benefit Tibet remains in the People Republic of China."

His Holiness the Dalai Lama is certainly giving us alot of hints that there will be no 15th Dalai Lama. His Holiness has been saying about this for quite some time and each time he will make fun of it by suggesting something ridiculous like the next Dalai Lama will be female and it has to be a beautiful one.

It was said that there is a prophecy predicting that the 14th Dalai Lama will be the last but most influential Dalai Lama. There will be no reincarnation of the 15th Dalai Lama. When China heard this news, they immediately retorted back saying His Holiness is going against the fundamental of Buddhism which is the existence of Reincarnation. Seems like China is unhappy with the fact of there is no Dalai Lama after the current one.

I think they had been gearing towards the direction of naming their own Dalai Lama. they are now trying to make the Tibetans in Tibet as happy as possible and not make any troubles for China. His Holiness the Dalai Lama is a very useful and powerful person to have on their side. That is why they will certainly try to choose their own Dalai Lama and hence when His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama said that there will be no next Dalai Lama, they retorted back.

Yes, I read about this too and posted it on a different post.

Yes lots of questions...

Why is the Dalai Lama changing the traditional ways that has been practiced for centuries, in selecting and recognising the future Dalai Lama?

What is the big picture behind this move?

If he is an enlightened being, an emanation of Chenrezig, then how will this affect the next Dalai Lama's selection?

Is the Dalai Lama ending his emanations as Tibet's leader so as to give way to China's Panchen Lama?

How will this affect us Shugden Buddhist?

So many questions...

It is sad because if the Dalai Lama choose not to be recognised anymore, it would mean the Tulku system may have an issue. Who will be the overall spiritual leader of Tibet whom everyone will listen to? Who can be like the Dalai Lama to unite all Tibetans? Is this the end of not only the Central Tibetan Administration, but also Tibetan culture?

Reading the exchanges here, suddenly I wonder if it is not the time to right the possible wrong of 400 years ago. There had always been the question as to the right person chosen for the Dalai Lama. Some say it should had been Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen. So after all these years, could be a handing over to the rightful throne holder. In relations to the prophecy of Nechung Monastery when the South Door is open, Nechung will retire and Dorje Shugden will ascend his rightful place. I do wonder if it is the case of the Dalai Lama and Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen's reincarnate. After all, the Dalai Lama is kinda link to Nechung and DS link to ...... so.... Just my fanciful thinking.

If the Dalai Lama chooses to reincarnate, then I think it should be within China as that is where the majority of the practitioners will ripe for the plucking, so to speak. Being of an enlightened mind, who knows maybe China may be controlled by who?

I have no doubt that His Holiness the Dalai Lama is the real incarnation. But the issue is that are they going to get the real reincarnation the next time round? China will definitely not choose the real one, they want their own candidate. CTA cannot be trusted. So what now?

Some say it should had been Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen. So after all these years, could be a handing over to the rightful throne holder.

Some people believe that this mistaken incarnation of the Dalai Lama goes all the way back to the 5th Dalai Lama.

There were two boys in the running for the 5th Dalai Lama. We all know who won but the other candidate was none other then Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen. The story goes that Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen was a very strong front runner for the position of 5th Dalai Lama. Corrupt noble men and high Lamas were bribed to chose the other boy, the man who is the present 14th Dalail Lama. Many Tibetans believe that the wrong boy was chosen and had not faith in him.

This will all be corrected with the next 15th Dalai Lama. There will be two 15th Dalai Lama's, one from Tibet and the other from India. The Tibetan 15th Dalai Lama will be the incarnation of Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen. He will make Tibet an all Dorje Shugden paradise with Dorje Shugden as the "State Protection of Tibet". He will also replace the Nechung Oracle as the "State Orace" with a Dorje Shugden Oracle. The 15th Dalai Lama with the help of the Panchen Lama will teach Dorje Shugden throught Tibet and the World. The 15th Dalai Lama will worship Dorje Shugden as his personal "Yidam" as we followers of Dorje Shugden will worship him as our personal "Yidam".

You are totally right SabS about the 14th Dalai Lama not being the real incarnation. It should have been Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen as the real incarnation all the way back to the 5th Dalai Lama.

All we must do is wait for the passing of this 14th to be replaced by Dorje Shugden the 15th Tibetan Dalai Lama.

The CTA can do what ever they want with their 15th Indian Dalai Lama.

This is why the 14th Dalai Lama is now trying to destroy his very own Tulku lineage.

He knows that Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen will become the next rightful 15th Dalai Lama in Tibet.

This 400 years of a false Dalai Lama will end with the death of this Dalai Lama.

I don't think there is a mistake on enthroning the correct 5th Dalai Lama at that time. The protectors and high lamas won't be wrong in selecting the correct candidate for the throne of Dalai Lama. Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen just happens to be around at the same time. He is rightfully great on his own and he does not need to be the Dalai Lama to show his greatness. There are alot of high lamas out there that is equally attained and great as the Dalai Lama.

However, I do believe the prophecy of Dorje Shugden oracle taking over Nechung oracle's places as the state oracle. Nechung oracle has been manifesting mistakes and many of them are grave mistakes which created alot of problems for Tibetans and the Dalai Lama. A renowned mistake of the Nechung Oracle will be the cause of the 13th Dalai Lama. He is the direct cause of the death of the 13th Dalai Lama. The oracle was executed because of this.

Then, another one will be during the invasion of China into Tibet. Nechung told His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama to stay in Tibet. Luckily Dorje Shugden took trance and told His Holiness to leave Tibet immediately which turns out to save His Holiness' life. China shelled Potala Palace that very day. All these mistakes are serious mistakes that show the incompetence of Nechung to provide assistance to the CTA and Dalai Lama anymore. It's time to let Dorje Shugden oracle take over the job.

Nechung oracle has been manifesting mistakes and many of them are grave mistakes which created a lot of problems for Tibetans and the Dalai Lama. A renowned mistake of the Nechung Oracle will be the cause of the 13th Dalai Lama. He is the direct cause of the death of the 13th Dalai Lama. The oracle was executed because of this.

Sorry Alex but I don't agree with your view.

We have so many FAKE Tulkus out their who have BOUGHT their titles.

Taiwan is known for it's many Tibetan and Chinese Tulkus who bought their titles.

Protectors may not make mistakes and also corrupt Oracles and High Lamas don't make mistakes.

These Oracles and High Lamas know exactly to whom they are selling these titles to.

THE HIGHEST BIDDER!!!!

There is no "Mistake" on their part, just greed.

Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen was the other candidate for the position of the 5th Dalai Lama.

He was considered the next choice but evil Noble families and corrupt members of the government chose some one else.

Money can by power, properties and the title "Dalai Lama".

You do admit that we can chose the wrong person for the Oracle of Nechung.

You call it a "Renowned mistake".

Why not the "Renowned mistake" of the 5th thru the 14th Dalai Lamas?

The 14th Dalai Lama recognized the Chinese Gov'ts 11th Panchen Lama but has never said another word about it.

Does he really believe the 11th Panchen Lama is for really or is he trying to "Buy" favours with the Chinese Government?

Is the Dalai Lama "Selling" a Tulku title for his own personal gain?

He is now talking about destroying the Dalai Lama Tulku Lineage.

This does not sound like the true "Buddha of Compassion"?

It is my heartfelt believe that Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen is the true Dalai Lama and it was stolen from him by the corrupt backers of the fake 5th Dalai Lama.

The 14th Dalai Lama is trying to stop Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen from becoming the next 15th Dalai Lama.

He will fail!

Long live Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen the next 15th Dalai Lama!!!

Why is everyone so interested in the searching of the Dalai Lama's reincarnation? It was mentioned in a tantric scripture that the 14th is the last Dalai Lama. You do realise the role the Dalai Lama plays throughout history? Since Tibet is now part of China, there is no need for a Dalai Lama because Tibet is no longer independent.

Also, it is none of the US business whether the Dalai Lama takes rebirth or not or China gets to decide the 15th Dalai Lama's reincarnation because that's family closed door business for China. So the USA should mind their own business, especially Trump who couldn't care less for the Tibet issue. They should also stop sending the CTA monetary support which has proven to be a waste because the CTA has achieved nothing after 60 years!

This is very interesting. You are saying a tantric scripture had stated that there is no more Dalai Lamas after the 14th? What you mentioned sounds logical too since Tibet is no longer a country and need not a "Ruler" anymore as the Dalai Lama had been.

Yes, I do agree that Trump really has no business in the issue of the 15th Dalai Lama at all. Just because USA sponsors the refugees, that doesn't give them the rights to interfere with the sovereignty of another country and their internal affairs. Always seeking internal strife of others so they are able to maintain their No. 1 position. Not nice at all! Why don't US look inward and eliminate discrimination within US?

I think Tantric scriptures for someone who knows little about Buddhism will not mean much to them. All they see is that the title Dalai Lama is a powerful and influential title and anyone who has control over it will be at a tremendous advantage. That is why China has been plotting to take charge of the title when the current Dalai Lama passes.

For years, China has been preparing to gain control of the Dalai Lama and their effort includes getting their own Panchen Lama who traditionally the one person who has authority to recognise the next Dalai Lama. During one of the occasions where His Holiness is saying that he is the last Dalai Lama and there will be no next Dalai Lama, China retorted saying that he does not respect the fundamental of Buddhism which is reincarnation.

With that, we can see that China is set out to get their own Dalai Lama regardless of what the current Dalai Lama says. However, there are efforts from Dalai Lama trying to get back to China recently and he had mentioned about wanted to go for pilgrimages and go back to Lhasa. I wonder why China is delaying their response to them.

Well, for one, China still have no real control over Tibet and the Tibetans. If the Dalai Lama were to return then naturally their loyalty will be with the Dalai Lama and China wouldn't like that as it means the current "peace" may turn to more exposure of a whole lot more of rights' issues or even an uprising. Where the Dalai Lama goes, there will be a lot of attention and China will have a difficult time keeping the press at bay. So what little advantage they had gained from their investment will come to naught.

Currently, the Dalai Lama is a loose cannon and you don't know what he will say to create upsets, so I think China is very wary of how things will become unbalanced with his presence in China. Better to be the bad guy with a somewhat peaceful country than a country embroiled in turmoil and end up still the bad guy. China will always be viewed as a bad guy no matter the good that they do.

With the recent tailspin between the Dalai Lama and Lobsang Sangay, we know things are not well within the CTA and Sangay attempted to get the Dalai Lama back to China so he can have the CTA ALL BY HIMSELF. It is also very clear that the successor of the Dalai Lama and his reincarnation are the least important topics to Sangay. He would rather not have the Dalai Lama then he can be the boss and corrupt all money away!

Throughout the history of Tibet, there is no ONE occasion where another lineage has any say to the reincarnation of the Dalai Lama. It has always been a closed-door Gelug business with little support from the Sakya. The Nyingma couldn't care much about the Gelug, in fact, most Nyingmapas hate the Gelugpas. The Kagyu used to resist the Gelug power and cursed the 5th Dalai Lama (if I am not mistaken) by putting his hair under the staircase of their monastery.

Nothing will really happen in the meeting that was cancelled in November 2018 that is conveniently cancelled indefinitely due to the death of an insignificant Nyingma lama that no one is interested in. I am just wondering how the CTA will end finally.

These days, the Dalai Lama is showing more and more signs of sickness and deterioration of his health condition. Just last month, he couldn't perform the Kalachakra initiation that is a yearly big event for the CTA. It looks like he might not live as long as he has promised. See the relevant news here http://www.dorjeshugden.com/forum/index.php?topic=6238.0 (http://www.dorjeshugden.com/forum/index.php?topic=6238.0)

If you all remember, the Dalai Lama said he would live till 113. Later, it was reduced to 100. He is 84 this year, there is not much time left. The CTA has not done anything else to make sure the Dalai Lama remains and they are constantly doing the opposite which creates even more demerit for themselves.

Personally, I hope the Dalai Lama will live long because I believe he is the emanation of Avalokiteshvara but I don't think the CTA and Tibetans have the necessary merits to keep the Dalai Lama remain.

For a high lama like His Holiness the Dalai Lama to remain, there are alot of factors. His Holiness the Dalai Lama will stay longer if he is able to benefit alot of sentient beings in his current form. If he is not able to do what he wanted to do which is to benefit sentient beings, he might choose to manifest death to leave the current situation so that he can move on to another place or plane of existence to benefit the beings there.

Many high lamas who are unable to perform their duties properly will manifest death prematurely to move on to another new life so that they won't waste their time being stuck in the situation. CTA has not been diligently in assisting His Holiness in his effort of achieving Umaylam for Tibet. They have been very selfish and reaping benefit for themselves while forsaking Tibetans in exile.

It is obvious that CTA is not really going to fight for Tibet and all the talk about getting back Tibet is just empty talks and to make themselves look good on International platforms. It is also the best way for them to get free sympathetic money from Western countries. If they really had put in the effort, why is there no progress on them getting back Tibet for 60 years now? They have not even initiated dialogue with China. Hence, His Holiness the Dalai Lama is manifesting displease and cutting short his life since CTA is not cooperating with him.
