You know how holy texts are supposed to be treated with respect, and kept in high places, wrapped up nicely, free from dust etc? Well what does this photo say about what the monks think of the CTAs latest literary offering?

You got that right...the book that our dear Shartse Abbot offered to the Dalai Lama during the Lamrim teachings at Sera were found discarded all over the monastery. Even in the rubbish bins at times ::) maybe the Shartse Khenpo and CTA may find their books are more popular when the text is actually a Dharma text of some sort, instead of criticisms of a religious practice...
Anyway DorjeShugden.com has just published a new article on the Dalai Lamas 27-minute speech on Shugden given during the teachings. I thought he werent going to talk about it anymore? :o :o :o :o :o guess keeping :-X isnt as easy as putting your mind to it and getting it done!

This is the best way to response to acts that is meant to cause schism among the Sangha. Throw it into the rubbish. Because that is what it is.
How dare the Abbot of the Holy Gaden Shartse that was founded by Lama Tsongkhapa presents a schismatic book to His Holiness?!! I wonder what karma was created? No wonder many of the book was thrown away as rubbish. I rejoice for that.
-
The Dalai Lama's speech is unbelievable rubbish. It's Trijang Rinpoche who said that Tulku Dragpa Gyaltsen was asked by Nechung to become a Dharma Protector, so again he's saying that his Guru is wrong!
His extensive investigation consisted of selectively reading the 5th Dalai Lama's biography, some dreams and throwing dough balls? The Gelugpa tradition is famed for its incisive use of logic - obviously not in this case! Why is the Dalai Lama telling these lies? There are also stories that he was the one who was wrongly selected to be the Fourteenth Dalai Lama so he should be careful whose reputation he tries to denigrate.
-
Well the Gaden Shartse Abbott should be grateful that his text is not tied to the tail of the dog. I suppose it is good they have spent their money on something so useless that the text is discarded just like that. It was bad in the beginning, bad in the middle and bad at the end this was the action of the Abbott who tried to defame Dorje Shugden once more.
I just feel there is such a huge difference in the way the Shartse Abott conducts his campaign against Dorje Shugden and how this website comes up with its content. One is so sloppy and just get the job done, and www.dorjeshugden.com (http://www.dorjeshugden.com) is about coming with something beneficial for the people there is pride in what the website produces.
-
Yes, many monks think such political rhetoric and that this anti-shugden book is just rubbish. The monks at large are really fed up and they have even lesser regard for the Shartse Abbot for producing such a book. He must be out of his scholarly mind. Perhaps, in favour of political favor, he would gladly renounce his beliefs and years of scholar learning. This is very sad for him and his teachers. So much has been invested in him and this is what he produced.
In the old tradition of Nalanda and the other great indian monastic universities, texts that were less than perfect in terms of content or grammar are tied to a dogs tail and allowed the text and the author to be disgraced in this manner. All texts must go through yogis and scholars to check through its content before it is hailed to be a worthy text to be relied on.
-
His extensive investigation consisted of selectively reading the 5th Dalai Lama's biography, some dreams and throwing dough balls? The Gelugpa tradition is famed for its incisive use of logic - obviously not in this case!
Extremely pertinent point. Je Tsongkhapa is known for having dismissed even his repeated pure visions of Manjushri, until they were endorsed by his holy guru. Now comes this charlatan and dismisses the instructions of his holy guru just because of alleged ”dreams” and ”dough balls”!
Therefore, time is long overdue for Gelugpas to get rid of this corrupt and illegitimate leadership and reassert their faithfulness to the pure tradition of Je Tsongkhapa, based as it is in pure guru devotion.
Exactly as Kagyupas, Sakyapas and Nyingmapas choose their leadership without owing explanations to the evil dalai, so should do the Gelugpas, unless they want to put their precious tradition at the service of the dirtiest politics. In such case, Gelugpas themselves, not the evil dalai, will be responsible for the destruction of their own tradition.
-
How dare the Abbot of the Holy Gaden Shartse that was founded by Lama Tsongkhapa presents a schismatic book to His Holiness?!!
How could the ridiculous abbot ever ”present” the schismatic book, if the schismatic book had not been ordered by the evil dalai in the first place?

The dirty deed in its illogic attempt of rewriting an authentic lineage absolutely did not garner much support from the monks and the assembly. Hence, the rewritten garbage ended up as rubbish littering the compound at the end of the talk. This strongly indicates the sentiments of the assembly of sanghas. They are unreluctantly dominated by a strong dictatorship to become anti-Shugden by no choice of their own. As it is apparent, most of the sanghas are undercover Shugden practitioners. Externally they have to put up with an appearance of supporting the ban but internally they are quietly practising Shugden. The Dalai Lama and the CTA are certainly fooled by external appearance! What a waste of money and time invested in this dirty deed.
-
The way the texts were thrown everywhere and was untidy reflects the true sentiments of the sangha who attended the particular teaching on that day. I agreed with Icy what many of the sangha are actually "undercover" Shugden practitioners all along never forsaking the preciousness of the teachings and practice of Lama Tsongkhapa, to preserve it especially during this degenerate age. We need this teaching the most for everyone who is lost in this world to save our being and not be suck under the wave of "superficial ism".
-
Dear JSPITANGA,
You are free to speak as you will, and considering the circumstances I understand how the actions of others can bend us out of shape, but I would like to comment on your continual reference - here and elsewhere - to the Dalai Lama with derogatory terms such as "evil dalai".
If we are genuinely interested in accomplishing realizations, we should know that the only appropriate minds to generate towards others are those contained in Sutra or Tantra. Seriously, this is no laughing matter to be brushed aside. If a supposed "practitioner" of the holy Dharma does not have respect for the Dalai Lama as a holy being, then what is the next option? He is our kind Mother unceasingly tormented by the three sufferings, and we should have love and compassion for him, especially for the heavy negative karma he is creating if he isn't in fact an emanation of Dorje Shugden himself. There are a vast number of realizations that the ban and the Dalai Lama and his supporters should be causing to arise within our minds. If it is not, if you do not feel fierce renunciation, love, patience, compassion, bodhichitta, strong effort to concentrate on emptiness and the two tantric stages, my gosh, we have certainly missed the point entirely!
Our speech is mind and inner wind. It has power. In fact, if you examine closely over time after reflecting on teachings about the two truths, you will understand how our speech is creating our reality.
Bottom line, if the Dalai Lama is not a holy being for you, then understand how living beings are not their delusions, but are being tormented by their inner enemies. Everyone has a heart of gold and is worthy of our respect, and that includes not speaking in a slanderous manner, name calling, or belittling the beautiful being that they are, our precious kind mother giving us fuel for realization. Such kindness is begging you to deepen your inner experience!
The meaning of life is realization. Please be careful about the reality you create for yourself.
-
JSPITANGA,
Don't get me wrong, if people are lying or being hypocritical with the words and actions, sometimes we have to call them out on being a liar or hypocrite so they will see the error in their ways, but to call someone evil will become a huge obstacle in our ability to generate the realizations of the path.
If we are contradicting the Dharma, we are encouraged to generate a sense of shame and change our actions through moral discipline. If we consider ourselves a "practitioner" or a "Buddhist", we should feel ashamed of ourselves if we are contributing in any way to the increase of suffering, the degeneration of BuddhaDharma, and littering our path to enlightenment with obstacles. These are two mental factors that everyone need: sense of shame & sense of consideration.
This is the Kali Yuga. Dorje Shugden is turning up the flames. Now is the time to burn up wrong inner paths, Now! Seriously, we're all almost dead!
-
Dear psylotripitaka, thanks for having taken the time to read my posts.
In my dictionary, ”evil” means that which ”impairs the happiness of a being or deprives a being of any good; anything which causes suffering of any kind to sentient beings.”
I find it a suitable description for the evil dalai.
Otherwise, I agree with your point that the evil dalai deserves compassion, just like any evil person.

The 27 minute speech of HH Dalai Lama seemed to be incendiary enough to have led to the violence inflicted on an elderly attendant of the previous incarnation of Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche at Trijang Ladrang in the dead of night.More such actions may follow.
The circumstances seem to come together in a conspiracy to support the continuation of the ban. Only a while ago, the Dalai Lama had publicly stated that he was going not say anything re Dorje Shugden in public. And now this...
Why was a book against Dorje Shugden being launched by the Dalai Lama as well, during the same teachings at Sera Mey to which He had earlier sent the abbots to invite Trijang Rinpoche? On the surface it might seem like a retaliation. However, to me , this goes deeper.
Why this renewed vigor in the criticism and attack on Shugden supporters and practitioners? Again why this tirade against Shugden by Dalai Lama and the Chairman of the Geluk International Foundation?
Are we to just sit and watch things happen? No, it just must means that we have to do more , via, this website, to bring the ban down.
-
I guess a lot of people saw it as RUBBISH!!!
This book is pure evidence for us to show the world that the Dorje Shugden ban is pure discrimination and is against religious freedom of all human! If a Tibetan Buddhist society can do, if their spiritual leader can do this, someone who is well known for peace speeches can do this, then who else can we really trust really? This book that the silly Gaden Shartse Abbot has published may just be our ticket to proving to the world the hypocrisy of it all.
No other religion or leaders of a country has ever created a book that talks openly why another faith or belief is deemed wrong? It is WRONG to begin with to do that... ethically, politically, spiritually on all grounds WRONG!
-
This picture clearly tells us the reactions of the participants of the Lamrim teaching! The newly launched book is considered nothing sacred or valuable but a mere rubbish!
The anti-shugden camp had ended up with such a pathetic state. It is beyond foolish to come up with another attempt to stop Shugdenpas from their practice.
Shugdenpas have been able to refute without any doubt point by point of what the anti-shugden camp had said wrongly about Dorje Shugden! What else do you need before you concede that you were completely wrong?
The anti-Shugden camp had made a huge mockery of the Tibetan Buddhism for many years already through this ban! What more damage or disrepute do you want to bring to Tibetan Buddhism in general and the incomparable teaching of Lama Tsongkhapa and Dorje Shugden?
The effort and kindness of so many buddhas, bodhisattvas, lineage lamas, Dharma protectors, practitioners and even HH Dalai Lama who had worked tirelessly to spread the Virtuous Tradition will be wasted if the hypocrisy and idiosyncrasy surrounding this ban continue.
If the anti-Shugden camp chose to continue with their ban on Dorje Shugden, go form your own lineage that has nothing to do with Dorje Shugden.
Let the Shugdenpas continue to preserve their pure Dorje Shugden lineage. Stop harassing the Shugdenpas! Stop creating disharmony! Stop confusing the public and damaging the Dharma!
Let the ban on Dorje Shugden end now.

First, CTA should not even spend time and the money to research and produce the book, then they should not even bother to print the books, because it is full of lies.. and now the books are just dumped to the rubbish bin and may be just waiting for recycling.
Dear CTA, if you have money, why not spend the money to buy more medicines, or books for children? If you have time, why not think about how to unite all Tibetans to gain your independence (if that is so important to you)?
-
I am very happy to see this picture as this has shown that the monks are intelligent and able to distinguish what is truth and what is false. Obviously they know that what has been written in the new books is all rubbish and they are able to see the truth of Dorje Shugden’s enlightened nature.
There are several prayers and text for Dorje Shugden that have composed by the great lamas such as the 5th Dalai Lama, Trijang Rinpoche as well as the 10th Panchen Lama (In his collected works (sungbum), the 10th Panchen Lama wrote a praise to Dorje Shugden http://www.dorjeshugden.com/introduction/history/10th-panchen-lama-writes-prayer-to-dorje-shugden/ (http://www.dorjeshugden.com/introduction/history/10th-panchen-lama-writes-prayer-to-dorje-shugden/)) Would the high lamas wrong about Dorje Shugden? I’m sure all of us have the answers.
Personally, I like this article that use logical way to laying out all the facts about Dorje Shugden and why the basis for the Dorje Shugden ban was proven false: http://www.dorjeshugden.com/all-articles/features/basis-for-the-dorje-shugden-ban-proven-false/ (http://www.dorjeshugden.com/all-articles/features/basis-for-the-dorje-shugden-ban-proven-false/)
-
One of the part i find it very amazing is that if you notice the Nobel Prize winner said he only brief saw the Table of Contents of this book as a Nobel Prize winner or as a normal Nobel Prize winner would you simply launched or endorsed a book without even know the details of a book? For sure I won’t do that…and with all this happening one of the old monks who is in Trijang Rinpoche's Ladrang being attacked by unknown men without even saying a word. How cruel it is for you to hurt someone just because he chose to follow the instruction of his Guru and sticked to it.
-
Most people are thought to treat religion with respect regardless of one beliefs. If someone give me a bible as a gift, I would not dump it in the rubbish bin because it is disrespect to someone's belief. Correct me if I'm wrong but fundamentally buddhist teachings are about respect for all beliefs. The Dalai Lama is all about inter-faith harmony and I doubt he would treat a bible in such disrespect.
So how is it that books with content of Buddha and Buddha images are treated as such? Just because it's about Dorje Shugden? So if I put the name of Dorje Shugden among other gods and Buddhas, all the other gods and Buddhas will also be defiled? Hmm...that makes DS extremely powerful, doesn't it?
Banning the DS practice from all aspect no matter how you look at it doesn't make sense. It is perhaps the fact that it doesn't make sense brings one attention as to what is the true reason/goal behind this ban being imposed by one of the wisest Lama of our time.
Down with the ban I say because when the ban is lifted I'm hopeful that the true reason will also be unveiled.
-
Obviously many of the sanghas are under cover Shugden practitioners by the sight of the discarded books thrown in the most inappropriate way. They saw it as rubbish!
There is so much hatred and violence which is not what Buddhist practiced.May tolerance, compassion and the ban be lifted ,so all Buddhist can practice as they wish without fear of persecution.
-
It reminds me of the days during the old days in Nalanda, how the dharma texts would be scrutinised. The Dharma texts would be debated and checked by scholars and the high lamas. And if the text was deemed not up to par or quality, then the text would be dragged all over town tied to the tail of a dog.
In this case the monks dumped the text directly into the rubbish bin which shows how disgusted they are with the text produced by Gaden Shartse. Remember when we take refuge vows, we must treat even a scrap of paper with dharma on it as the holy words of the buddha, in addition to that I think there was a reference in the lamrim whereby a high lama picked up a piece of paper with the dharma from the floor.
-
DharmaDefender, of course the monks knew very well the difference between a dharma text and one that is full of false allegations. So naturally, the ones with contents that is amounting to garbage for the minds is put where it belonged-the rubbish heap. It is very obvious that many people are well informed and they must have been disgusted with the false information in this book. Such a waste of funds that went into printing of this illogical book.
-
It was sad to see what CTA offering to Dalai Lama ended up this way after the event in Sera BUT I am happy to know those monk in Sera know what they are doing.
Dear CTA, please stop using your poor tax payers money to publish this kind of material anymore, even I am not one of your tax payer, I really having a hard time to convince myself with what you guys are telling. This is really sad.
-
They not only not respected human rights, but Dharma text....
-
Well said Psylotripitaka.
That being said, although I really respect the Dalai Lama, and will never breath a world of negativity about HH, but the recent news about the release of the anti-ds book really upsets me (and everyone I know!)
I wish I can truly call the Dalai Lama 'evil' but no matter what, when I view at things objectively and not place my own personal agenda like being oppressed for practicing DS, HHDL truly has done many wondrous things that none of us can possibly achieve.
Unfortunately, endorsing this anti-ds book is really a bad move, for the Dalai Lama that is... maybe now we have the chance to use this as prove on the religious discrimination happening to us.
-
Psyllotripitaka says
You are free to speak as you will, and considering the circumstances I understand how the actions of others can bend us out of shape,
Actions of others never bend one out of shape. What bends one out of shape, from an ethical viewpoint, are only one's own unskilful minds, such as one's own hypocrisy (concealment), lack of compassion, and lack of self-respect (sense of shame).
For instance, one shows hypocrisy, lack of self-respect, and lack of compassion, when, out of subservience to common opinion, of religious preconceptions, or even of self-identification with evil, one calls “holy” that which even oneself recognize as evil, thus endorsing, supporting, and sanctifying such evil.
This is the non-Buddhistic, Abrahamic (Jewish, Christian and Islamic) way. No matter how evil, envious, bloodthirsty, and callous their “god“ may be (according to their own scriptures), and no matter how much the victims of their “god” (or of the belief in such a “god”) may suffer, they (the Abrahamic followers) still call it “good”, and venerate it, just because it is “their god” -- and, not satisfied with that, self-righteously try to enforce this veneration on others, calling them “blasphemous”, killing them, and so forth.
Now, in a similar way, and no matter how perverse, envious, deceitful, and callous the evil dalai may be (to the point that even you agree that he deserves compassion), you have rather self-righteously reacted, ruffling your feathers just because someone called the “dalai” by his suitable epithet, that is, “evil“ -- defined as “that which brings suffering to sentient beings” --, and even want to enforce veneration of your “holy” entity on others, thus following the non-Buddhistic, Abrahamic violent pattern.
Even if the evil dalai does not bring suffering to you personally (as he does not bring to me), he still brings suffering to many others who are under his power. Therefore, calling “holy“ the evil being who brings so much suffering to others, thus endorsing, supporting, and sanctifying his violence, and, what is worse, attempting at enforcing such debased veneration on others, is tantamount to a gruesome show of lack of compassion and connivance with violence -- besides the cheap, hypocritical exercise of lojong with the suffering of others.
Therefore, may I politely suggest that, rather than pompously setting dubious rules for others, you keep venerating as “holy” your evil entity as much as you want, and take care first and foremost of your own mind and motivations.
-
HHDL truly has done many wondrous things that none of us can possibly achieve
Which wondrous things? Defaming and humiliating his holy root guru and other hard-working lineage lamas? Winning the Nobel Peace Prize together with other war criminals? Inciting, supporting, and justifying gruesome self-immolations, bloody racist riots, and medieval witch-hunts? Receiving monthly allowances from a convicted criminal hell bent on bringing the chaos to other countries under the pretext of “democracy“? Supporting the division of his country and the delivery of a huge chunk of Tibet to bloodsucking colonialists? Ruthlessly attempting the destruction of a holy Buddhist lineage? Uttering blatant lies and misusing Buddhadharma in order to assert his own despotic power? Supporting the murdering of holy lamas?
If you find these obnoxious actions “wondrous things“, support them, connive with them, then may I politely ask, what in Buddhism attracts you?
-
Yes it is true that holy texts are supposed to be treated with respect, and kept in high places, wrapped up nicely, free from dust etc. Even if you need to discard it for whatever good reasons, you have to visualize the text dissolving into the syllable AH, and then dissolve into your speech aggregate.
I am sure the monks who discarded those books know their vows and what needs to be done. So when the books are just discarded in this manner, it is a clear sign that it is not a dharma text but tabloid quality filled with thrash. And so thrash is where it should belong!
-
The only positive thing I can think to say about the Dalai Lama is that as a result of his teachings and books, many people have taken an interest in Buddhism, however on another level we can see how much harm he has done by mixing Dharma and politics and through his hypocritical sectarian agenda. It's very sad. We need to have compassion for him whilst completely opposing the political and selfish agenda seems to be following. I don't like his tacit support for the self immolations. The Dalai Lama is supporting violence while at the same time verbally disassociating himself from it. It's such hypocrisy.
-
CTA made Gaden Shartse Abot and senior sanghas who conspired in the publishing of the anti-Shugden dharma text absolute fools. Gaden Shartse Abot prefers to remain politically correct and be CTA's puppet by manipulating and twisting a true authentic history and lineage of Dorje Shugden. This is an acute attack on his scholarly logic which Gaden Monastery is world renown. What a shame Gaden Monastery is down-graded through his act and leadership. This is certainly the first ever happening in the history of Gaden.
