In 2013, while His Holiness the Dalai Lama was in Gaden Monastery, he summoned the abbots of Gaden Shartse and Gaden Jangtse Monasteries. Dalai Lama instructed the abbots to make a trip to the USA and seek audience with Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche’s current incarnation. The abbots of Gaden Shartse Monastery and Gaden Jangtse Monastery’s aim is to request Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche to return to Gaden for a visit. Also His Holiness the Dalai Lama wanted to pass back all the teachings to the young Trijang Rinpoche he received from his predecessor. This is what the Dalai Lama told the abbots was the purpose of their mission. The abbots being frightened to oppose the Dalai Lama have set off on their trip.
The interesting point is Trijang Rinpoche is still practicing Dorje Shugden openly and giving Dorje Shugden initiations to vast amounts of students in Asia, Europe and the USA. So why would the Dalai Lama or the abbots want a Dorje Shugden practitioner in their midst? These are the same abbots who expelled the Dorje Shugden practitioners from their monasteries hoping to be ‘clean’. Why are they inviting the biggest Shugden practitioner of all time to Gaden or to receive teachings from Dalai Lama? All Dorje Shugden practitioners are not supposed to return to Gaden, Sera or Drepung nor participate in the teachings or events of the Dalai Lama. So why are they inviting Trijang Rinpoche at all? It contradicts everything. Does this mean other Dorje Shugden lamas, practitioners and monks are allowed back to Gaden, Sera and Drepung also?
The private office (Kukey Yiktsang) of the Dalai Lama paid for the full expenditure of these two abbots’ trip to the USA. This shows how important their mission is. The abbots are currently still in the USA with their purpose unfulfilled.
Gen Chunzey-lah, the personal assistant of Trijang Rinpoche, called Trijang Rinpoche directly. Trijang Rinpoche said he will definitely not meet with the two abbots because their motivation is not pure. He is too busy to make time to see them.
Trijang Rinpoche is now becoming stronger and travelling to China as well as Tibet this year. Trijang Rinpoche’s followers are growing and He is teaching much more. Once the current Trijang Rinpoche travels to Tibet and China, the followers will grow into the hundreds of thousands in those regions. Many with abated breaths await this visit we are informed. Therefore as a result, Dorje Shugden’s practice will increase exponentially The Tibetan Govt-in-exile is finding this a threat perhaps? The Tibetan Govt-in-exile (CTA) cannot get much of a foothold with the Chinese government or Tibet. The practice of Dorje Shugden is growing yearly in Tibet without the CTA being able to curb it at all. The CTA perhaps is feeling threatened?
Whatever the outcome is, the abbots are still in the USA now awaiting for an audience with Trijang Rinpoche with their mission unfulfilled. Will this incur the wrath of CTA or displeasure of His Holiness the Dalai Lama? If this fails, what will be their next move is anyone’s guess.

That the two Abbots of the Ganden colleges of Shartse and Jangtse have been sent by HHDL, is in principal, like the Dalai Lama himself seeking to meet with Trijang Rinpoche. It is important to remember that it is not Trijang Rinpoche who is shunning the Dalai Lama, but His Holiness himself said very clearly that all who practice Dorje Shugden should not have any relationship with him and should indeed stay away from His Holiness. In fact, Trijang Rinpoche is only respecting the Dalai Lama wishes and therefore no one should feel slighted that the Abbots have yet to be able to meet with Trijang Rinpoche.
This post raises a lot of questions namely, why ask for Trijang Rinpoche, a well known Dorje Shugden practitioner, to pass on the lineage to if:
1. DS practitioners are demon worshippers;
2. Therefore will take rebirth in the lower realms;
3. And would't that kill the lineage for sure?
4. Unless the accusations leveled against Dorje Shugden have been lies.
There is one possibility that Trijang Rinpoche may acquiesce to the Dalai Lama's wishes that is if the Dalai Lama were to bring the ban down instantly. If not, then in fact the pure Gelug lineage is already in the hands of Trijang Rinpoche and the other great Shugden Lamas. What is there to pass but an unholy corruption?

Why, indeed! I wonder aloud why would HHDL invite Kyabje Trijang Choktrul Rinpoche back to Gaden monastery for a visit and to pass back to Kyabje Trijang Choktrul Rinpoche all the teaching HHDL received from Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche because that would also mean HHDL would also have to pass back the practice of Dorje Shugden. That would be interesting!

This news is extremely fishy. There are 2 ways of viewing the possibilities to the reason the Dalai Lama wanting Trijang Rinpoche to return to Gaden Monastery and passing back the lineage teaching. Firstly it could be the Dalai Lama is getting old and tired of continuing the DS ban as He is faced with so much opposition and challenges so has decided to call it quit. Therefore by making amend the Dalai Lama is requesting the DS lineage holder and master, Trijang Rinpoche to return to Gaden and allow the continuation of DS practice. However, it could be the Dalai Lama wanting to pass on all the lineage teachings to Trijang Rinpoche and by doing so the Dalai Lama will naturally be Trijang Rinpoche's guru and he has to adhere to the Dalai Lama instructuon to stop DS practice hence to further enforce the ban of DS practice.
If the 2 abbots fail in their mission to bring Trijang Rinpoche back to Gaden, my guess would be the Dalai Lama would have to travel to meet Trijang Rinpoche but this is unlikely as it is against the protocol. On this point, Trijang Rinpoche could have the upper hand to negotiate for the uplifting of the ban on DS before he would return to Gaden with the 2 abbots.

Why would HH Dalai Lama ask Trijang Rinpoche to go back to Gaden, knowing that Trijang Rinpoche will not give up Shugden practice? Also, Trijang Rinpoche does not need to receive the lineage teachings from Dalai Lama, as he has received them all from the great Lamas abroad, who had themselves received their teachings from his previous incarnation, directly or indirectly.
Yes, Trijang Rinpoche is already spreading the teachings of Je Tsongkhapa and making huge inroads everywhere he goes, principally in China and Mongolia. When the ban is lifted, there will be nothing to stop Trijang Rinpoche and other great lamas, Shugden practitioners, from spreading in all directions , Je Tsongkhapa's teachings and the Shugden practice, for the benefit of all.

If all DS practitioners are not allowed to have any relationship with HHDL, why is HHDL asking the two abbots to meet Trijang Rinpoche who is a DS practitioner? It is right that Trijang Rinpoche turned down the meeting of being invited back to Gaden Monastery as it would not be right for a DS practitioner to be associated with HHDL.
Why HHDL can’t choose another candidate to pass down the lineage? Why chose Trijang Rinpoche unless HHDL has come to accept that Dorje Shugden is not a demon and will not shorten his live and that all allegations about Dorje Shugden are lies. It would be interesting to see the outcome of this invitation. May the ban be lifted soon!

How strange it looks that the Dalai Lama wishes to pass back all the teachings that he received from the previous Trijang Rinpoche (the Dalai Lama’s tutor) to the young Trijang Rinpoche.
Strange indeed, and this is why:
1.
The teachings in this matter were received from the previous Trijang Rinpoche, who was a Dorje Shugden practitioner and promoter.
So, how could these teachings be reliable when the lama that taught them worshipped a demon?
2.
The current Trijang Rinpoche also practices Dorje Shugden (and WITH the approval of the Dalai Lama), promotes DS and propitiates DS.
So why would the Dalai Lama pass on precious teachings to a lama that worships a demon?
How could a demon worshipper be reliable to be a link in the lineage of teaching’s oral transmission?
3.
The Dalai Lama summoned the abbots of Gaden Shartse and Gaden Jangtse Monasteries, none the less!
He did not write a letter or sent a messenger or an attendant, he sent such high ranking lamas.
How could the Dalai Lama give a propitiator of a demon such importance?
4.
Why does Trijang Rinpoche refuse to meet with the two envoys, questioning their motivation?
How? Why?
Surely, the Chinese Government would not see positively that Trijang Rinpoche – who is to travel to China and Tibet - gets in “good terms” with the very symbol of the Tibetan cause for autonomy.
We can imagine the pictures of these two lamas together and how they could be easily displayed on the internet.
Could it be that the Dalai Lama wished to compromise Trijang Rinpoche’s trips to China and Tibet by inviting him to meet?
Could it be that Trijang Rinpoche prefers not to compromise his coming trips to China and thus has decided to keep a distance with the Dalai Lama?

Personally I would say that the main reason why the Dalai Lama wants Trijang Rinpoche to return to Gaden is to stop Trijang Rinpoche from spreading Dorje Shugden practice. For the Dalai Lama to have connections with Trijang Rinpoche it would mean that Trijang Rinpoche is on Dalai Lama's side, opposing the practice of DS and supporting the CTA to be fighting the rights to get back their land.
Hence, this would actually jeopardise Trijang Rinpoche's visit to China and Tibet this year. When this happens, Trijang Rinpoche will not be able to spread Dorje Shugden practices to more people. Hence, after a while, the Dalai Lama supporters would get what they want of having no one practising Dorje Shugden at all.

This is very strange.
Why would HH Dalai Lama want to pass back all the teachings to the young Trijang Rinpoche he received from his predecessor since HH Dalai Lama is putting a ban on Dorje Shugden, a teaching that the previous incarnation Trijang Rinpoche practicing and promoting on?
Why would HH Dalai Lama treat this invitation so important that he sent both the abbots of Gaden Shartse and Gaden Jangtse Monasteries that expelled the Dorje Shugden practitioners from their monasteries?
Is HH Dalai Lama trying to stop HH Trijang Rinpoche from going to China and Tibet to promote Dorje Shugden or HH Dalai Lama would like to lift the ban, together with HH Trijang Rinpoche? Or HH Dalai Lama is trying to create more confusing and contradicting situations for others to questions the ban, to check out who is Dorje Shudgen and to promote Dorje Shugden?
I can’t wait to hear more breaking news and hope the ban will be lifted soonest!

It's interesting to read everyone's hypothesis on why HH Dalai Lama wants to invite HH Trijang Chocktrul Rinpoche back to Ganden. I am dubious of the reason given - that the Dalai Lama wishes to confer the practices the previous Trijang Rinpoche gave him.
Firstly, I am wondering if the bounty on Trijang Rinpoche's life has been lifted yet. Security is tight around Trijang Rinpoche for a reason and the reason is that there are Tibetans who think that Trijang Rinpoche is bad. So what is the Dalai Lama doing about that view? Is he going to condemn the death threats against Trijang Rinpoche? Perhaps that might be a good start to even raising the possibility of a dialogue with Trijang Rinpoche.
Secondly, lift the ban on Dorje Shugden. How can the Dalai Lama wish to mend relationships with Trijang Rinpoche if he condemns the very Protector who Trijang Rinpoche holds dear?
Whatever purposes the Dalai Lama wishes to achieve with Trijang Rinpoche, the Dalai Lama has to lift these two illogical injunctions first to set a platform for any possible healing of the bond between guru and disciple from life to life.

The Website has been consistently sharing and giving information about the inconsistent nature of the ban and Dalai Lama's stance, all the signs were there. From the Dalai Lama allowing Trijang Rinpoche to practice Dorje Shugden, allowing for the throne of Trijang RInpoche to remain at the Gaden hall, The Dalai Lama knows fully well that it was Dorje Shugden who protected the young dalai lama to escape into India.
The time of reckoning is at hand, the CTA and the anti shugden people have ignored the signs for far too long and now why would the Dalai Lama who apparently wanted to stamp down on Dorje Shugden practice send Gaden abbotts to meet Trijang Rinpoche. And we all know what Trijang Dorje Chang stands for and supports. CTA and anti shugden people will have no where to run or hide, the lies and deception they have created and believed will come crashing down on them.

I don't quite understand why HH Dalai Lama would put the 2 abbots into such difficult situation...

I heard some reports saying that Trijang Choktrul Rinpoche's office notified the Abbot's (not sure if both Abbots eventually made the trip) assistants that he will not be able to accommodate their request to have an audience with him, due to previous engagements. As the result the Abbot(s) changed their plans and were rerouted to another destination so as not to embarrass themselves. Regardless of outcome, all Tibetan government officials and people who supported the Dorje Shugden ban should now be asking the Dalai Lama and the CTA for an explanation. By inviting the most influential Dorje Shugden lama to return to the monastery in India, the Dalai Lama defies the reasons/justifications for the ban that he imposed. Does this invitation to Trijang Rinpoche mean that the ban is over? Does it mean that the [baseless] reasons given for the ban no longer applies? What does it mean?
If the Tibetan people are serious about securing their independence from China, then it is imperative that they behave like they are capable of independent thought, especially when the actions of their government contradict their own policies and decrees.
As for the CTA, their enforcement of an illegal and oppressive ban has put them in such a bad light internationally and it could not happen at a worse time, when world support for the cause seem to be waning. The CTA in support of the Dalai Lama made an official decree to persecute their own citizens who worship Dorje Shugden. But now this latest move by the Dalai Lama makes a mockery out of the official government stance and undermines their already poor credibility even further. Shouldn't some in the government push for the ban to be removed already?

Of all the possibilities on why the Dalai Lama invited HH Kyabje Trijang Choktrul Rinpoche back to Gaden; I like this one by Samayakeeper the best. I think it is not possible to persuade Trijang Rinpoche to give up the practice. I think the Dalai Lama wants reconciliation with Trijang Rinpoche and this is exciting for me as it may be the first step to lifting the ban. It is not possible to lift the ban just like that without any dialog with the highest authority of the Protector practice; which is HH Trijang Rinpoche.
On why HH Kyabje Trijang Choktrul Rinpoche refuse to meet the abbots, I think, they need to try 3 times. Hehe. Well....2 to go!

Just received news posted on the chinese DS.Com (www.xiongdeng.com (http://www.xiongdeng.com)) by Dorje Chonpel (Mr Hwang). Dorje Chonpel who is the translator whenever the Taiwan Dorje Shugden oracle takes trance, confirmed that three representatives of the Dalai Lama sent to convince Trijang Choktrul Rinpoche to return to India, did after all make the the trip to meet Trijang Rinpoche. Out of courtesy Rinpoche did meet with them but personally and conclusively rejected the Dalai Lama's request.
It appears that these representatives which include the Abbot of Ganden Shartse were quite desperate having being told by the Dalai Lama to get Trijang Rinpoche to go back to India, that they made the trip even though Trijang Rinpoche had told them before hand that he would acquiesce to the Dalai Lama's request for him to return. It is quite unfortunate the Shugden ban continues to place even senior monks in impossible situations. In the earlier years of the ban, the Dalai Lama tried to coerce a young Trijang Choktrul Rinpoche to break his vows and loyalty to the Protector. When Trijang Rinpoche refused to be arm-twisted to break make a break with a practice that he trusted completely even in his previous incarnation as the erudite Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang, he was issued with many death threats and Rinpoche had to leave his monastery in India. That was a time when the Tibetan government in exile were actively encouraging violence to be inflicted on all Shugden monks and lay practitioners. And now, the Dalai Lama wants Trijang Rinpoche to return as if nothing had happened.
As for the non-Shugden monks, first they were literally forced to comply with the Dalai Lama's instructions to abandon Dorje Shugden and expel monks who refuse to give up the practice. And now they are being forced to take actions to bring a Shugden lama back to Ganden Shartse to give and receive teachings, which runs contrary to their position on Dorje Shugden and every accusation they themselves made against the Protector. In fact Trijang Choktrul Rinpoche has received the complete lineage teachings from his own Gurus and he, like all Shugden monks have been practicing the pure lineage in spite of the ban. The wrongful, illegal and unholy ban has done nothing to diminish faith in Dorje Shugden who for centuries has been acknowledged as an enlightened Protector, and a wrathful emanation of Manjushri. Instead it has severely damaged the credibility of those who decided to be on the right side of politics and the wrong side of the pure Dharma and real guru devotion.
This desperate move by the Dalai Lama proves how baseless the ban is. All those who previously supported the Shugden ban should take note.

Kyabje Trijang Choktrul Rinpoche receives quite a bit of teachings from Kyabje Yongyal Rinpoche. Yongyal Rinpoche is a lineage holder and received his transmissions from the previous Kyabje Trijang Dorjechang, Zong Rinpoche, Zemey Rinpoche, etc. There is really no need for Trijang Choktrul Rinpoche to go back to India to receive the teachings from the Dalai Lama.

I think it seems like if the Dalai lama were to re-transmit Trijang Rinpoche back the transmissions that he received from him, like Karmapa does to Shamar Rinpoche and vice versa, then I guess it would make it seem that Trijang Rinpoche would accept that the Dalai lama hadn't given the appearance of breaking samaya with him for abandoning the Dorje Shugden practice.
I think this is an important teaching; even if the Dalai Lama is a Buddha, he can still teach in reverse psychology; so he can give the appearance of breaking root guru samaya; so how could he transmit something purely if he really broke root guru commitments? (I am not saying he did or didn't as I am an ordinary sentient being and can't tell for sure who is a Buddha. But the Buddhas can manifest emanations that show incorrect behavior to help us learn, so that is possible that that is what the Dalai lama would be doing). So in other words, if a government (like China or any other government) were to pick a candidate for any tulku at all and he didn't even keep samaya with his root guru, then we wouldn't really consider that he could give the transmissions purely to the next incarnation. (Hopefully all tulkus will be Buddhas even if they are recognized by China, but I am just saying, right activity is to keep religion and politics separate).
So in other words, Trijang Rinpoche might be looking for someone who showed keeping root guru samaya.
I understand we are from different cultures who post here, and I honestly do not know who is a Buddha or not, but I am not sure why I am supposed to believe without investigation that a political leader is a complete Buddha.
I am from the west, okay, and if you tell me 'that guy is a Buddha,' well, you need to prove it. I notice though, that the Penor Rinpoche Nyinmgas and the Shamar Rinpoche Kagyus have never claimed that we had to accept without question that the teachers were Buddhas or that we couldn't question what they say. Actually, I have never seen any Kagyu do that, on either half of the lineage. As for the Nyingmas, the only ones I have studied with were Penor Rinpoche's ones.
I guess it is like when Christains tell me that I have to believe in Jesus or I am going to hell; I just don't buy things because someone says so.
I am praying that Trijang Rinpoche will help us get the ban lifted. If not, maybe it is so China will let us practice Dorje Shugden because the Dalai Lama is pretending he dislikes Manjushri when he takes this particular form.

It's rather absurd to expect Kyabje Trijang Choktrul Rinpoche to accept the invitation by HH Dalai Lama , requesting him to return to Gaden Monastery. Kyabje Choktrul Rinpoche's life is constantly under threat. He had to flee his ladrang in the night, and escape to safety far away, years ago. So he isn't likely to rush in "where angels fear to thread".
It also begs the question. With the ban on Shugden practice, and knowing Trijang Rinpoche as a fervent practitioner, how is CTA expecting Trijang Rinpoche to react to this invitation? Accept the invitation and be told in the face that he has to stop practicing Shugden? Or close an eye to his practice of Shugden. If that's the case, it's the greatest inconsistency of all - to allow Trijang Rinpoche to worship Shugden in the face of the prosecution of all other Shugden worshippers? The grossest inconsistency is their going down hard on Trijang Rinpoche for worshipping Shugden not so long ago, and now possibly allowing it or closing an eye to it,knowing for a fact that Trijang Rinpoche would never ever give up his practice.

Yes I would very much like to know how a government can tell anyone what to practice, especially while they are in exile in India, where freedom of religion is held very sacred.
