:) This is good news and a great example of a famous personality who is using their popularity to champion a cause to bring positive changes to the world. Perhaps it is their karma that they are able to be a Hollywood star. The question remains that over and above their "bling bling" career, what would they do to give back to society?

Truly a good example of using one's fame for a good cause. Thinking beyond one's own selfish mind is fundamental in our spiritual growth. I salute the Leonardo DiCaprio in his exemplary actions, and joining the list of celebrities who now are championing many different causes for humanity and the animal kingdom!

Here is an example of such wonderful work:

The documentary film The Cove notably captured the confrontation scene she had between Japanese fishermen and five surfers from the U.S. and Australia. Other than fighting for animal rights, Panettiere is an ambassador for the Candie’s Foundation whose mission is to stop teen pregnancy.

It is great that celebrities "lend" themselves to such efforts and these organisations ride on their popularity to garner support from many angles.

Yes, Positive Change, these celebrities use their fame for a good cause.

Recognition must also go to people whose great effort are not highlighted. A notable mention should go to these people - they should be made celebrities for their contribution.

Without doubt this is great news. I noticed many celebrity also support various causes from supporting animal rights, disaster relief, humanitarian work, disease research...etc etc. While these a very admirable and is a great inspiration to the world at large, what I think would be the greatest act in the history of the world is for any of these famous celebrity to openly support the Shugden practice. That will be most inspirational and beneficial to the human race.

Any idea any one?

This is a celebration in itself to all the celebrities mentioned above. Their good deeds exemplified good examples of what people can do with their effort and resources. These celebrities champion their efforts to raise awareness on certain issues they feel or can relate to in the focus of the world media, set up foundations to protect their organization, made trips or concerts to raise funds, etc. There effort paid off through the many lives they can save and protect for the benefit of our mother earth.

This is very true yontenjamyang... in fact, supporting Dorje Shugden inherently counters the ban directly via celebrity clout and that is what is needed for us practitioners. An openly practising celebrity/celebrities (non spitirual of course) would certainly give the ban its final shove into oblivion.

Many of these clelebrities were born with good karma to be beautiful(BODY), to be articulate(SPEECH) and have great charisma. Its GREAT too that they developed a great MIND to think of others and use their satus and network to help those in need.

I completely agree with Yontenjamyang and Positive Change on this issue. There needs to be a celebrity who comes out to support the practice of the protector. Now that would be something! Anyone know somebody famous?

Celebrities who spend their time and money earned trying to make the world a better place are admirable to say the least. They are using their social status and wealth to try and educate their fans on the miseries in the world and some quite actively at that. It's inspiring that you cannot always cast celebrities in the same light. You hear about celebrities going off the railings and here are exceptions to the stereotype.

Whatever your religion we choose to take on, we should be kind to all beings, and any kind person will not want to see other beings suffer. After all, don't we all want happiness and less suffering?

I admire famous people who do not just focus on making money, instead, also use their fame to contribute to a good cause. Being kind to animals is very special, because animals cannot pay back and say thank you to you even if you are kind to them.

I do hope to see more people to be kind to all animals. Good job all who are kind to animals!!!

Kindness transcend religions. Even those who claimed to be free-thinkers or atheists can do acts of kindness. Celebrities are people with fame and fortune. But fame and fortune do not guarantee happiness and satisfaction in life. Many celebrities live distraught and unhappy lives. It is encouraging and inspiring to see some of these celebrities speaking out and using their fame and fortune for humanitarian causes. I applaud Leonardo Di Caprio for his initiative to save animals. Regardless of his religious beliefs his act of kindness towards animals will definitely gain him much good karma and merit even. We may not be in the position to do what Leonardo can do but we can support him through social media and this does not cost anything except a bit of time to click away the keyboard and mouse.

It's great news that most Celebrities supports various causes for animal rights. They are the person who can inspire the world to help them support such causes
All religion teaches us to be kind to animals and human beings. By doing this it can create the cause of good karma and gain merits too!

Its really great to know that the famous people are putting their celebrity status towards a good cause. Just one person can do so much in bringing awareness to people around the world. Yes, many people and animals are also benefitting from this awareness...
1 thing though... Why are there no celebrities talking about a greater cause? Bringing the ban down!!  :-[  So much more that can benefit from it! I really do hope that one day I get to read and rejoice at that GREAT news!

REjoice to all who are doing something so meaningful in this lifetime.
Buddhism aims at the demolition of the self, the creation of subtle mindfulness, bliss, great compassion and moderation and gentleness. These must be cultivated within a general atmosphere of subduing the passions, subduing the desires and aversions and of cultivating reflection and a caring attitude to all life
Buddhism emphasises the attainment not just of enlightenment, but also of full Buddhahood. This subtle difference means training not just to gain insights and personal release from Samsara, but also to actually become a Buddha, a fully enlightened being who compassionately helps others through their lives to attain wisdom and realisation

It's really great that Celebrities these days are getting more involved in making the world a better place. I guess being rich and famous and intelligent, has made them realize that happiness is not obtained only by having money and fame.

Thanks for sharing this news, I have also heard many businessmen/women that are more involved in philanthropic activities these days. Wonderful that there are many people trying to end suffering in any way they can.

It is nice to know so many celebrities got themselves involved in many kinds of noble activities. So, we shall follow their footsteps to do our small part starting from our everyday life.

"Therefore in the modern world, petitions are becoming one of the easiest methods to excerpt pressure on the respective organizations." ----- I think, we should use this method to exert pressure on CTA to lift the BAN !!!

Having the celebrity status lends a bigger statement in humanitarian work. Knowing you can make a difference makes the difference. It is good that some celebrities know that took the opportunity to make their stands and give their support because they can. If everyone do their part of what they can offer, everyone can make that difference too.

Celebrity hood is just one of the many ways we can lend our support to any cause. It is through our own honest actions that will inspire others like falling dominoes. And even if our one action does not inspire others, we inspire ourselves to have made that all important first step towards compassion!

WOW! I am so happy to hear that Leonardo DiCaprio had done so much for the animals and for mother earth. I am a big fan of Leonardo, he’s such an inspiration. An inspiration for everyone on earth to be kind, have love and compassion towards sentient beings. He have done something really meaningful with his fame and wealth. Will you do the same as Leonardo DiCaprio if you have the condition like him ?
Many species on earth have been endangered because of human ignorance, selfishness, self centeredness. Animals cannot speak for themselves, we must be sensitive enough to know that they are suffering, they are in pain. Have love and compassion towards every sentient being, create a better, peaceful world!
