Post by: thaimonk on January 19, 2012, 11:25:31 PM
Beautiful statue of Dorje Shugden in Thailand completely covered in flowers offered by many devotees. Many drinks are offered up also. What a spectacular sight. Nice to see Dorje Shugden taking off in Thailand.

It is so wonderful to see Dorje Shugden chapel set up so beautifully, freely and so openly in Thailand. The Thai's must have great merit for this DS chapel to manifest. The people who created this chapel I salute you. Definitely a must visit place when we're in Bangkok now. May there be more of such chapels around the world.

The freedom of religion and spiritual practice is human rights and no one can/should force anyone in to a religious practice or not. May the ban on Dorje Shugden be lifted soon.

Thanks for sharing this fantastic photo. It’s lovely to see Dorje Shugden swathed in garlands of flowers! I know it’s great to have this in Thailand but since I’m so far away, I was wondering if there were chapels like this in Europe or USA. There is freedom of religion in the West so people CAN practice freely. We can have chapels in England definitely. Although perhaps the culture in the West is not as open to making offerings as in the East. It’s probably more acceptable in Italy as a Catholic country. Can you imagine a Dorje Shugden chapel on Oxford Street!

Perhaps the only deterrent would be licensing. I have no clue about the laws regarding setting up of chapels but it would be really nice to have some here.

Sawadeeeeeeekrub. The flowers are nice, kind of Hindu mebbe. Nicer still to see that it's so open? Must be a relief not to live in a culture of fear of being persecuted for their beliefs. Not only do they have great merit for the chapel but for the creators, must be like a merit-generating battery. May Vajrayana Buddhism take root and spread in Thailand...

WB, in one of those small kiosks? To rival the Big Bus Tour ones... thats a nice thought although I do wonder about health and safety regulations... you know, incense smoke, food safety regulations to do with the open offerings, unlawful gathering of people, etc. Although if it took off, maybe it could usurp the Jesus-preaching fella that plonks himself up on Regent St sometimes...

OH MY BUDDHA! I am so overwhelming! It's so good that Tibetan Buddhism and the Thai Buddhism blend together where Dorje Shugden's statue placed freely and nicely in Thailand! Thai people are so spiritual.
No matter what people request to Dorje Shugden, it's good to make offerings to the Buddha.

Btw, any of u know where this statue actually located at??  ???

OMG

this is such a neat offering to Dorje Shugden! The people who are making this offering sure will be piling merits high into the sky! I hope their wishes and prayers come to fruition soon and may by whomever setting up the chapel there we will create causes together to LIFT THE BAN!

Good work folks!

This is the map to the chapel I believe.

Buddhism is one and all from Shakyamuni, just that there are various types of practitioners and with varying degrees of motivation hence the different traditions have sprouted up. Buddhism is likened to a coconut tree all its parts can be used for benefit.

So joyous to see people having faith in Dorje Shugden, they must have felt the peace that Dorje Shugden one of the many benefits of relying on the protector HWOSE time is NOW. Nice to see Dorje Shugden has many entourages of animals and etc, more entourage for DS to send all over the universe to help sentient beings.

Wow! This chapel was set up not too long ago and now has so many offerings to Dorje Shugden from the locals. The locals must have benefited a lot for the chapel to be there and also Dorje Shugden would have helped many in such a short time.

The Thais are truly fortunate to have a chapel there for themselves. Thais are very spiritual and could accept any Buddhist teachings. Great to see that Dorje Shugden has been accepted into the Thai community. May the ban be lifted sooner with this great news from Thailand.

Thank you TK for sharing this picture.

It is always heart warming to see people taking refuge in the buddha, after all even we are in samsara and we make mistakes and have our obstacles to overcome, it is always good to rely on the wisdom buddha like Dorje Shugden. Making connection by offering flowers, food and drinks on a regular basis, is a great way to accumulate merits that can help us to soften obstacles should they ripen.

If you look closely, besides the beautiful garlands of flowers, there are lots of animal figurines offered at the bottom of the statue. They are socute and beautiful!!

This chapel is located very close to the red light district of Bangkok, near Patpong as you can see. The people who set this chapel up have really thought of who would need Shugden's help most. I pray more of the lost souls could find solace and  peace when they make the connection with Dorje Shugen and that their wishes be all fullfilled quickly.

WOW!! Lovely! The thais are exemplary in that religious practise is out of freewill and not biased towards the lineage, the school, etc. It tells me that to them, a Buddha is a Buddha regardless of how he looks like, and hence, respect will be shown. The Thais will show that they respect a holy image/Buddha through making offerings, and for them to have this much of offerings to Dorje Shugden, shows that they have accepted Dorje Shugden, eventhough this chapel has been set up not long ago. I can see also that someone has offered candles! Offering of candles ignite wisdom within one's mind, dispelling ignorance. How apt for Dorje Shugden, who is Manjushri himself.

I am really happy to see religious freedom epitomised in Thailand, and am positive that the king DS has helped the very people around this area in Bangkok, who have made a connection and received his blessings.

Oh by the way, I just thought about this...

I am sure that opening a chapel that will be of so much benefit to the people of Thailand would have brought a great amount of obstacles to the very people who initiated and built this chapel. How could one minimize these obstacles from happening, for both the citizens and those who's intention was to build the chapel to benefit others?

I rejoice by this news.  How wonderful Thai people are getting alot of blessing from DS, a new protector for them.  I also rejoice that the sponsors and the people who are involved in spreading DS to Thailand are collecting vast amount of merits to support further spreading of DS to the whole wide world.  I am certain that in a short time DS will be a global phenomena.  How exciting.

That is just so beautiful. I hope it will inspire people to make such chapels in their own country and spread DS all over and bless people. It could just be a group of practitioners who group together and raise funds for it. They could also do their practices there and such. There are always zealous people tho, but not all of them will dare to tresspass a properly secured area unless they want to risk legal action, because technically they cant storm the place on the grounds of whatever they want to believe. imagine if this shows up in italy amongst the churches there!! so beautiful :)

Yeah the people behind the Dorje Shugden chapel in Thailand are really resourceful and have foresight. They have built in a place where CTA has no influence at all. And I am sure the people around the chapel area have felt and seen the benefits of Dorje Shugden otherwise, the offerings to Dorje Shugden will not increase like it is now. I wonder how the people figured out to offer animals?

Dont forget there are other places where Dorje Shugden has been showing up for example Singapore. I took this picture off a thread thats since been pushed down http://www.dorjeshugden.com/forum/index.php?topic=1521.0 (http://www.dorjeshugden.com/forum/index.php?topic=1521.0)

Hahaha I think its creativity and a little bit of tradition anyway. If you take a VERY close look some of the animals come from the zodiac. Think it was a bit of Thai creativity offering the zodiac signs on the zodiac new year. Anywya Ive seen people offering animal figurines, usually snakes, sows and chickens. Students offer that to their lamas as a symbolic offering of their hatred (snake), ignorance (sow) and greed (chicken).

I am so happy and excited to see all the flowers offered to the King Dorje Shugden.

As you might already know, Thailand is mostly Theravadan Buddhism. To the Thai people, they grow up with only one Buddha, i.e. the Buddha Sykamuni, and they don't know much about other Buddhas (probably except Guan Yin). They also don't have the concept of Dharma protector. Moreover, most of the Buddha images in Thailand are very peaceful.

When I see a lot of flowers being offer to Dorje Shugden who is fierce looking, it means they really accept who He is, and they really know His power.

p/s: It is said that when Dorje Shugden is first installed in this chapel, a local gangster is so afraid of Him because of this wrathful look :)

What you said makes a lot of sense yes for the people engaging in Buddha dharma Dorje Shugden shows a smiling face, to the people who oppose dharma and create more delusions he shows a fierce demeanour.

So strange huh? When you consider that outwardly the statue is the same - the smile you and I both see which was painted by the artist is exactly the same. But how we view it and what it means to us, is entirely dependent on our merit. Some people will see the wrathful smile as comforting and other people will view it as threatening. And yet the physical outlook is entirely the same...

If people can look at a statue and have such different responses, then the same thing can happen with anything else, for example how we receive DS teachings is different to how others will receive it, but yet they are the same teachings. It reminds me of stories Ive heard re people attending the Dalai Lamas discourses. Some people who have no merit will not see anyone on the throne, those who have some merit might see a foot, etc.

I have to confess that before I knew why statues have a wrathful look, I myself was scared also. This is because I do not know the meaning behind it. Now, that I know, I smile and rejoice because the wrathfulness is there to cut away my ego and also to clear my obstacles.

Does anyone know whether the gangster has realised how beneficial DS is to be located near him? Hope he has changed his mind and learn more since there is so much offering by the public. Maybe some of the flower offerings are from him. Hehe....

Wow it’s wonderful to see that the Thais are making beautiful offerings to Dorje Shugden in this chapel that was set up not too long ago. It is rejoicing news that the Thais are receptive of Dorje Shugden and are receiving a lot of blessings and help from the King.

How wonderful if more chapels can be set up openly all over the world for people to get connected to Dorje Shugden and receive His blessings.

There is a method to putting the Dorje Shugden in the sleaziest part of town in Bangkok, the Thais do not want to be associated with that area at all, it is considered a red light district and a haven for foreigners looking for fun and pleasure, hedonistic pleasures. I remember this Taiwanese Nun Cheng Yen who founded Tzu Chi, she had one of her book cafe smack in the heart of the red light district and she wanted to transform the place from a place of vice to a place of learning, she does great works.

I think theres a tradition like this across religions. True practitioners and believers of the faith never discriminate against who can receive the practice. Most prominent example I figure is Mother Teresa who founded her missions in the most rundown slum areas. I read a story about her once somewhere saying that someone had gifted her acres of prime land with the best intentions for her to move her mission there so she would be more comfy, have better premises etc. Instead she sold the land, took the money and donated it back to their current works 8)

As they say, if God created everything and evil exists, did God create evil? Then why pray to someone who created evil, and reject all the evil people that was created by the guy your praying to?Ive always figured people who discriminate against others are practicing their religion under false pretences because they dont really understand the fundamental core of all religion which is compassion and equality to all.

I totally agree with DharmaDefender.
We should help and give hope to those people that are away from the opportunity of meeting the dharma. I like this idea of of Tzu Chi appearance in the heart of the red light district. The motivation is so clear and these are the people we should look for.

For them to be at this part of area is their Karma of course but for us to be able to be there will give a chance to change their future. At least some imprint planted for their future.
For Lord Shugden to be at these place is a blessing and a great practice for them as a protection and create a conducive condition for them learn and understand more the true meaning of dharma.

It's so wonderful to see the flowers offered to Lord Shugden in Thailand and Singapore. Hope to see more and more offering to Lord Shugden statues everywhere in the world.

It's very great to see Dorje Shugden has so much offerings in thai style.

Thai believes that offering flowers will bring luck and prosperity, thanks for the people who contribute the statue and let people from Bangkok to collect merits.

Chok Dee ka (Good luck) to Thai!!  ::)

Wow!! This is such a nice picture, I am glad to know that people in Thailand are so devoted to Lord Dorje Shugden and this shows that by praying to Lord Dorje Shugden, wishes can be fulfilled ( depends on intentions ). I rejoice for the residents around the area, may they always be blessed and protected by Lord Dorje Shugden.

It is such a nice sight to see Dorje Shugden covered with beautiful flowers offerings. The people in around this location in Thailand is so fortunate to have a nice chapel set up for them to do their prayers and make offerings of flowers, lights and food and beverages. On my visit to Bangkok, I noticed the Thais are very spiritual people and it is no wonder that flower garlands are easily available as they are being sold along the streets.
I pray more chapels like this would be made available to the masses, especially in the red lights districts, so that Dorje Shugden can be the guide to those 'lost souls' .
