These are very good thoughts. Yes it is important to ask both teachers how to reconcile. Because if you give up your practice, the negative energies daily from having given up would damage the teacher who gave you the practice. Because you doubt your teacher so you gave up. Or you believed in another teacher more. It goes both ways. Either way, you damage a teacher. So better there is no ban. Mana

Practicing in secret, without the Dalai Lama’s permission, would NOT be a good solution if one is the Dalai Lama’s student. Even if one does the practice in secret, the ENERGY of the practice and the connection with the guru would affect the Dalai Lama, EVEN IF THE STUDENT DOESN’T TELL HIM. This isn’t just about *offending* someone. This has to do with the very subtle energy link between student and teacher. If the student does the practice secretly, fully knowing that His Holiness doesn’t want them to, this is not only breaking samaya vows, but it’s also hurting His Holiness energetically. A lot of people have trouble understanding this, but this is not just political rhetoric. This is an energy thing and it’s very important. If people are torn between loyalty between two teachers, the best thing to do is either choose which teacher to follow, or ask both teachers how to reconcile the situation.

The Dalai Lama gave a public talk to 6,000 devotees from Bhutan, Nepal and Himalayan region and to give blessings to the people. During his talk Dalai Lama says he knows the Shugden Society has been recruiting children from the Schools. But Dalai Lama did not comment that they should not send their children. But caution and advise that if the devotees send their children to these schools without any knowledge there would be trouble for them in the future. These devotees is split between loyalty to Dalai Lama their God King and Guru devotion to their gurus who has given them the Dorje Shugden practice. So the best thing is to practice in secret until the Ban is lifted. In this way both sides will not be offended.
