They will only allow things which they perceive to be in their interests and presumably against the interests of the Tibetan population at large if the deaths of the 30 plus people who have self-immolated are anything to go by. Why would the ex-head of the Gelugpa school of Buddhism want to visit a Lama appointed as a reincarnate Lama by a government that doesn't itself believe in reincarnation? Does nayone really believe that this Chinese Panchen Lama was appointed by due and correct process, adn if not why rejoice at the Ganden Tripa visiting him with the sanction of the CHinese government.
