Absolutely amazing videos and pictures which prove that Dorje Shugden has been strongly and successfully propitiated by the highest lamas in Mongolia since the early days of the Great King's arising.

I note that the great Zanabazar (1635-1723) was responsible for advancing the Gelug school of Buddhism among the Mongols, supplanting or synthesizing Sakya or "Red Hat" Buddhist traditions that had prevailed. The different or varied forms/traditions of Dorje Shugden in the videos and pictures clearly show this legacy.

Zanabazar also had close ties with both Khalka Mongol leaders and the devout Kangxi Emperor facilitated the Khalkha's submission to Qing rule in 1691.

Wow, there are so very many great master from Mongolia. and, very interesting too that a lot of the history and works of Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen is to be found in Mongolia as well. Looks like the link for the Gelugs are still very strong in Mongolia. May the Buddhists in Mongolia stay true to their roots and not be divided as the rest of the Tibetan Buddhist are in various parts of the world.

Thank you to the team for a very comprehensive and informative article.

While Dorje Shugden is a Tibetan Buddhist protector, what most people forget about that practice is that there are many other peoples and countries in which Dorje Shugden is practiced apart from Tibet or amongst the Tibetan people in exile. Mongolia, having such a long and varied history with Tibet is just one such example, but one with a rich culture of the practice of Dorje Shugden.

As Dorje Shugden practitioners, who are somewhat ostracized, our Tibetan brothers and sisters are actively persecuted by their own Administration, which must stop.

This article is very informative on the contribution from the Dharma practitioners of Mongol. Very interesting indeed. They also seem to hold on very well to their samaya and hence the Dharma is maintained and growing well in their nation. Rejoice for them.

It is interesting to read about the relationship between the Tibetan leader Sonam Gyatso (3rd Dalai Lama) & Mongol leader Altan Khan & how their collaboration had benefitted the people of both countries & further spread the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. One of the very significant contributions by the Mongols towards the growth & preservation of Tibetan Buddhism is from Guru Deva Rinpoche. He is known for his efforts in helping the H.H.14th Dalai Lama to re-establish the 3 great monastic universities - Ganden, Sera & Drepung in India after the Dalai Lama was exodus from Tibet. However, in the later part of his life, it is sad that the very same person that he had helped was the “reason” that had caused him to be out casted from the Tibetan community, living in isolation until his death. Because of the kindness & compassion of Guru Deva Rinpoche, many great lamas had graduated from these 3 great monasteries these days and continue to spread the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism all over the world.

I rejoice that the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism is well preserved in Mongolia, their steadfastness in their practices & reliance on the great protector Dorje Shugden who will continue to help spread the teaching further. If Dorje Shugden is a spirit & threaten the life of Dalai Lama, Why would Guru Deva Rinpoche help the Dalai Lama while he escaped to India & even contributed to rebuilding the 3 great monasteries & the welfare of the Tibetan community in exile? The Dalai Lama always stressed on kindness & compassion in his practice, but it is certainly not demonstrated by the CTA & their followers, as seen in the case of what happened to Guru Deva Rinpoche.

This article was well researched and provides many information and education of Tibetan tradition Buddhism in Mongolia. It is so good to hear that the Dalai Lama has no influence over the ban for the practice of Dorje Shugden over there. And the abbots and high lamas of Mongolian monasteries allowing for and continuing with Shugden practice shows that Dorje Shugden is not what the Dalai Lama claims to be, spirit worshiping.

Sad to hear about Guru Deva Rinpoche, he supported the formation of Gaden, Sera and Drepung in india and countless Gelug teachers and students. Only to be subjected to scorn by the CTA and people who supported the ban to Dorje Shugden.

Monks of Gaden Sera and Drepung they should give up their monasteries, as the money originated from Dorje Shugden source. Lamas like Guru Deva Rinpoche, Geshe Lobsang Tharchin raised millions and passed it to pay for it. Sad....

Well done to the people who wrote about this association between the Mongolians, Dorje Shugden and also the Tsongkhapa tradition. it is the blessings of Manjushri and Avalokiteshvara that the 3rd Dalai lama was able to bring the buddha dharma to Mongolians and helped them make the transition from being a fierce warriors to a race who had buddha dharma and hence the world did not had to contend with blood thirsty Mongolians sweeping across much of Asia and Europe then.

Mongolians I was told are very devoted to the Lama Tsongkhapa tradition, and when the Gelug Lama like Geshe Thupten Thrinley came to Mongolia many people turned up to listen to this immaculate lama. May the buddha once again grow strong again in Mongolia through the efforts of Zava Tamdin Rinpoche and other gelug lamas in Mongolia.
